With all the snippets of footage floating about, I feel like I've seen the movie, bar the 13 minutes of credits.

I get that, but I wonder what qualifies this as a reboot as opposed to just a solo Bayverse film unconnected to the others. I'd imagine people wanting a reboot would want something definite and clear rather than just a Bayverse film that doesn't have solid connections to previous (or future) events.
Rumblestorm
Even with the inconsistencies, each Bayverse film has major connections from one film to the other.
2007->ROTF: Autobots and military formed an alliance, Sam and Bumblebee living together, Sam and Mikaela in a relationship, Sam moving to college, Megatron being dead in the sea, Allspark, Sector 7 disbanded.
ROTF->DOTM: Sam looking for work after graduating college, Sam wanting to be a hero again as he was in the Egypt battle, references to Sam and Mikaelas breakup, Matrix of Leadership, Autobot and Military alliance, humans aware of the Transformers since the Fallen"s broadcast, etc.
DOTM->AOE: A big part of the plot is of direct consequences of the Chicago battle.
AOE->TLK: Prime in space looking for his creator(s), Cade living in exhile with the Autobots while his daughter is in college. The ark on the moon. Lockdown's ship, Sam reference.
BB->2007: S7 exists. Bumblebee is a camaro. Nothing else, really. Could be easily dismissed as shared concepts, not continuity.
Point is, despite retcons and continuity issues, the first 5 films are still directly connected to each other with clear bridges in continuity between them. Meanwhile, there is no real continuity between BB/ROTB and the other 5 films. If anything, the disconnects are far more deliberate.

And both did nothing with it.

Wow I wouldn't have guessed that

We slowly see a new fresh chance at bringing our favorites to life regress into the caricatures we grew to hate. All potential stories point back to Unicron being the Earth, but hey, at least Devcon might show up as another grey genericon again.

Question to those seeing this film as a reboot, how would that be different than a Bayverse film which doesn't care about continuity issues?
Purple Heart
Thats a butchering of the new spot.

Cause someone is telling him to not flat out state bumblebee was a reboot

Noah\'s ex-military? Interesting. I thought he was gonna be high school/early college. Unless I\'m misinterpreting Anthony Ramos\' line, this guy might be my new favorite protagonist in the movieverse.
Then again it\'s a low bar when Shia and Marky Mark are duking it out for last place, and Hailee\'s just okay.
Also, I know I\'m late to complaining about this, but that\'s Peter Dinklage? He sounds nothing like himself in this movie. They used WAY too many filters on him.
Rumblestorm
If that's the case, whats the point of the transwarp key?
Frontier4
Having an ex-soldier makes him probably the most qualified of the human protagonists in a Transformers film (well, I guess Cade was a mechanic so technically not out of place with mechanical robots, and I guess there was Lennox…).
Feels kind of weird seeing Mirage in the Bumblebee role.

According to the director they are trying to protect the Bayverse, or that side of the universe.

It's hard to say for sure, really.
I think the simplest answer is that the Bayverse made a lot of money for a time so they're reluctant to let it go, evidently the quality of the content doesn't matter as long as it keeps the cash flowing.
SunSwipe5
In my humble opinion, they seem unwilling to commit to confirming one way or the other. Maybe afraid of pissing off fans who fall on opposite sides of the proverbial fence.
I don't know why. I mean, we are a very calm, jovial and understanding fandom that holds no grudges at all.
Novaburnhilde
Honestly I don't think any of it making sense or connecting properly matters to them in the slightest.
Clearly their desired audience is a person who just blankly accepts whatever they throw out, even if it presents information that directly goes against a previous movie, which is a pretty genius marketing strategy when you think about it: you can do literally whatever stupid shit comes to mind and the audience will eat it up.
JRX
Actually in the 86 movie, prime's charge was right to left as well, but the heroic character is on the left an awful lot in movie framing.
SunSwipe5
If this was in any way, shape, or form part of Bayverse, then Unicron would be described as a celestial sized, planet eating rectum with a really bad case of hemorrhoids.
So with a very badly injured Bee being left behind in NY, who the hell fixes him?

The Battle of Geonosis has the clones coming from the right to foreshadow Order 66. 2003 Clone Wars did the same thing.
