Magic Square Toys have shared, via their Weibo account, images of the color prototype of their new MS-B21G Golden Intelligence Officer (“Golden Lagoon” Bumblebee).
This is a shiny “Golden Lagoon” redeco of Magic Square MS-B21 Intelligence Officer/G1 Bumblebee. This a pretty chubby cartoon-accurate representation of the small Autobot scout.

Crap seeing the difference, I might bite and pick it up too.

Right this little guy is really cute, I would DEFINITELY buy a Masterpiece sized upscale of him, anyone else?

I'll echo the compliments on the new Bee shared by @magicube and @ManelFigures since I recieved my copy this week, ordered from Magic Square direct. I love the new yellow color for Bee but would have preferred the gun remain the original grey color or maybe be painted silver like some of the other "A" releases from MS. I think his new paint job makes him look more at home with my Newage offerings like Powerglide and Beachcomber but he still looks great with my other MS minibots – Huffer, Gears and Windcharger. I compared him with some of my other MS "A" releases like Hound and Huffer but I think he reminds me most of their Sideswipe rerelease with the cherry red paint job and the silver accents. I see the silver MS uses catch the occasional slam from some users here but I actually like when they use it. Maybe it doesn't photograph as well as it looks in person?

I wish someone made a toy-style head for this figure— or even a Goldbug sculpt so I could stick it on the Lagoon version. I’ve always hated Bee’s derpy Sunbow face, and unfortunately (from my perspective) Magic Square has accurately replicated it.

Looks much better but won't upgrade since they didn't update the design.

They also got the windows colour wrong again for my tastes.
I'd prefer something like this

Glad you like the figure better in hand than expected. I think the lighting I use brought out the glossiness of the paint.
ManelFigures
I was concerned but in hand is much better than I thought. The glossy paint is very subtle but it helps to make the details deep and better. Not a big fan of the silver face or the yellow gun but I'm gonna keep it as my main Bumblebee. It's time to add an emblem!.

Thank you

I’ve only transformed him once but from all of my handling of him, I’ve experienced no paint chipping. However, I could also say the same from my entire experience with exquisite Megatron. I think it’s likely that after some wear, there will be some paint chipping but so far I have been free of those issues.
The joints are much tighter so they are a bit harder to move but as I noted in the initial post, BB actually tabs together much better than the original does so I consider this version to be a considerable improvement.

How is the paint chipping from transformation? Some forum users complained for latest MS Megatron that it is well painted, but it is a pain to transform and paint chipping is present from transformation.

After seeing your pictures I instantly regret of buying him. I didn't know that it was glossy, the descriptions didn't mention that (ShowZ for example). And the face is silver… I always prefer cartoon colors, in the TV Show you there's no silver or glossy colors.
I'll sell him after a comparison photoshoot.

Got my copy of EX / exquisite Bumblebee. I always liked the mold but it certainly doesn’t match up to Magic Square’s recent offerings. However, I think this version is a big improvement over the original.
In hand the yellow looks fantastic – perfect for Bumblebee. Textually, the figure feels great; the glossy paint is heavily applied and creates a smooth touch. I think without prior knowledge, most would assume that it was not made of nylon. The joints are very tight and tabs actually seem to peg together. On first attempt, I got his alt mode to stick together better than the original could ever do (still not ideal however).
He’s not perfect though. Some of the paint isn’t applied well, most notably his elbows. There are also some flaking but mostly around his grey painted areas. His pistol is bizarrely painted in the same yellow as his body and you can see a relatively large flake at the end. It’s cast in the same unpainted yellow plastic as some of the joints. Not sure why they didn’t opt for the grey plastic used for his rims or atleast paint it in the same silver. Clearly its not an gang mold issue as the original was grey.
I do like these “exquisite” releases that Magic Square has been putting out recently. The paint helps solve some of the most common complaints that Magic Square receives, soft dull looking plastic, without jeopardizing their engineering. I am almost certain that Optimus will get one in the near future as well.

I’ll compare the original and exquisite releases soon. I don’t have my copy of NA Bumblebee with me at the moment, otherwise I would share some comparisons of the two as well.
