Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8 is a rare car. So rare that only 55 of them were produced and distributed worldwide. So, it was a daunting task when the producers of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts requested 5 of them to be used for filming and stunts.
Owen Shively, CEO of RTTM, which represents Porsche Cars North America in entertainment and product placement, took on this mammoth task to reproduce five Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8 cars using other existing Porsche chassis.
“I’ve never even seen one, but I had to go out and make five of them in a very short order,” he said. It helped that, while the 911 Carrera RS 3.8 is unique, it shares a chassis with 911s across more than three decades. “It has the same general shell. What allows us to do that is the 911 tub from 1965 to 1998. You can use that base and build it into a RS 3.8.”
Porsche owners came together to provide parts for the cars.
Thus, Mirage came to be.

That's awesome!

Oh that’s cool! To attempt to get the thread at least slightly back on track, while also fitting in with what you i just said, I actually made a custom paint job for the ‘95 GT2 to make it look like ROTB Mirage.

Returning to this at the risk of veering slightly off topic but, I just realized Forza Horizon 5 has a '95 911 (993) GT2 in it. So I'm having a good time with that currently and changed my license plate to say JAZZ.
AnonymousDwell
I'd prefer a '96 CTR2 personally, just because I loved the 90's 993-based chassis. And that way Jazz could jokingly say he was younger and newer than the chassis used for Mirage and they could have a funny rivalry. Plus, I mentioned Gran Turismo 2 earlier, and that RUF CTR2 in the game was my bread and butter in it lol. Dammit… now I want to dig my PSX out of the closet.

That’s definitely my hope. I’ve grown to like the ROTB style but it’s by no means my favorite. The Bumblebee Movie design might possibly be my favorite Wheeljack design (maybe second favorite, TFP Jacky is the only one that could surpass it,) and the studio series figure is one of my favorites I’ve gotten in a while, so hopefully that’s the way the movies will go, and he’ll somehow reformat into something similar again. And I’m pretty sure it’s been confirmed we’re getting at least two more movies set in this universe, so there’s definitely hope
Optimax Prime
That’s…….admittedly a good reason not to go for the Lambo Twins, but it’d still be pretty neat to see them together on screen in a bit of a Neo-Classic design (really wish that Wheeljack had a more G1-looking head, but if he survives the film and we get another one, he could reformat his head to a more traditional look for him
PrimusMaximus04
That would be awesome, but the only car Lamborghini would have been making at the time was the Diablo, and those, (in good condition,) run about $600,000, so from that standpoint I understand why Sideswipe and Sunstreaker aren’t here, though I wish they were
Optimax Prime
Honestly, Paramount could've easily seen if they could get one or two 90's Lamborghinis painted red and\or yelow and I'd be good
PrimusMaximus04
I mean seriously, imagine something like Jazz turning into a RUF yellow bird. That’d be epic. (Granted he’d have to be yellow but honestly I’d be okay with that if he just kept his personality from other universes)

Now in the future if they want to make a new movieverse Jazz, to avoid licensing entanglements, they can just pull a Gran Turismo 2 and use RUF instead of Porsche.
Mirage: "What are you supposed to be? We already have a car that looks like me."
Jazz: "I'm fully custom!"
Mirage: "So am I"
Jazz: "But I make it look good."
Mirage: "How dare you!?"

The Bumblebee movie did an excelent job with the cybertronian characters, why are they steering so far away from them in this movie? The animal bots look pretty good and of course Prime and Bee, but why would you steer so frar from wheeljack? I\'m fine with new car mode but why not pay trivute to the bot mode from G1? I feel that the Porche was a bad choice for Mirage. I can understand not using a formula 1 car for the street but they could have mad ehim choose one for a short period of time. For instance, he thinks it looks cool but nog functional for road so he changes cars by scanning an new one. Why not another sports car like bugatti or mazerati? Porsche shouls have stayed Jazz.
blaine71274
I agree. Why use such a rare version of the Porsche rather than a more common one of the same profile? Not many would have known the difference had it not been pointed out. As far as it not being Jazz, I think they just like to screw with us.

A Porsche is a Porsche

This live action nonsense can't get anything right. It's been a shitshow from the beginning and it continues to be over 15 years later.
PrimusMaximus04
I know right? I really hope this leads to future partnerships, imagine something like an updated jazz that turns into a 918!
Checksources84
Passing up on Jazz in a POC directed and starring film, with a 90's Hip-hop soundtrack is shockingly shortsighted.
It's a situation where the producers would be immune to woke criticisms of Race Bending, and be emphasizing Transformers's history of diversity.
Paramount and Hasbro would be cementing a positive "Black" robot character and fixing the damage of the twins.
Peaceful Soldier
Now that\'s interesting. Man, this movie is going to be amazing!!! Favourite car brand meets favourite franchise is an awesome feeling
