Tonight Nickelodeon held the Kids Choice Awards, and cast members from the upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Beasts presented Optimus Prime with a lifetime achievement award. The cast hyped up the new movie a bit then flipped it over to a highlight reel of Optimus from the movie era. It ended with a recorded message from Op himself featuring an alternate look from his Bee / ROTB era bot mode. We’ll update with video if/when it becomes available. You can check the youtube shorts of it here now

WTF an imaginary character receives the award???
Why didn't Pater Cullen and Frank Welker receive them instead? That just depressing.
NemesisJazz
To me this is a special moment and the vfx company could have made Prime move a bit more and be more dynamic. To me it looks like they did not spend much time on it at all.

People went on Peter Cullen deathwatch over this clip, when they weren't busy freaking out over AI. Having an opinion is one thing, but that's not what this thread turned in to.

My first thought: Money well spent? Another corp. buys their franchise an award!
2nd thought: Wait, fictional characters get recognized while true heroes are never mentioned??? Oh wait… this is an "award". For the upcoming RotB movie!
Riiiiight.
3rd thought: Huh. What the hell is everyone arguing about? And does the community REALLY need self-deprecating comments about the community? If you want to badmouth TFW, for God's sake do it in person! I'd love to meet the idiot walking up to people to b*tch about TF fans … at a con. If u don't picture yourself doing that? Yeah, stop being a douche on the forums and just let people vent or complain as they will. No need to judge them?

That comparison shot makes him look bad as well. When you put those two designs side by side (BB Movie vs ROTB), the ROTB counterpart is worse in every way. Looks like a poor fan made adaptation.

This was supposed to be a fun little promotional thing. Can we please treat it like a fun little promotional thing?
I can’t imagine how some of you would have reacted in 2009 when Optimus Prime read the Top 10 list on Letterman.

TFW complains more about TFW complaining than it actually complains.

“I don’t like this.”
“What do you mean you don’t like it?! GROW UP! You’re not supposed to have an opinion on this!!! God, what a meltdown this forum is having!”
Reactions to opinions on this forum always feel so disproportionately annoyed compared to the original opinions.

It was last awarded in 2014. Most of Nick's audience now would have still been in diapers if they were even born at that point.
It's fine. You're thinking way too hard about this.
GokaigerSamurai7
I mean they should have renamed the award to something else to differentiate it from the one that Dan Schneider won.
If there was someone else winning the award then it's fine lol
Can't stay on this board without a snarky reply directed at me, oh well.

They really screwed him up. Everything’s just kind of… off. Arms too thin, head too small, pieces missing from his abdomen, thighs enlarged and clipping into his hips…
It’s just weird.

MTV used to give out Lifetime Awards for Movies and did stuff like Godzilla, Freddie Krueger, etc.
It's a fun show for kids, stop overthinking it.
Oh my god. Some of you need to go outside. Cullen's been voicing movie Prime since 2007. Over 15 years.
There are people *on this forum* who first learned about Transformers through those films and have grown up with those as their version of G1.
I'm aware of how the 24/7 news cycle works, yes.

I feel like this might just be me thinking on the matter only, but I dunno… Is it me, or does Optimus' body just really look disproportionate comparatively? He looks like he has less material from chest to waist compared to Earthrise Optimus?

He looks fine in comparison shots like this, but I dunno? (From Movie Optimus Prime comparison | Transformers | Know Your Meme)

“Multi page meltdown” is certainly a way to describe 2 pages, with about half the posts being just concern over Peter Cullen’s voice.
It’s TF related content at a big event, TFW will obviously report on it. It being reported on means people will post about it. Welcome to how the site works.
T-Hybrid
Yeah it's kinda dumb to be like "OH MAN WHAT BAD COMPANY!" when there's only one other person.
It's more the multipage meltdown over a voice clip from a guy who likely recorded it in his living room between lunch and his afternoon s**t break.
It's the thing where TFW, being a 24/7 Transformers conversation, decided it needed something to fill the silence between reveals with a combination freakout over AI and the elderly.

Yeah and thanks

Optimus Prime Receives Life Time Achievement at Kids Choice Awards 23
Little late but good for you.

I would guess maybe they wanted to stay away from the award after him. Now they've just btought it back for promotional purposes.
octobotimus
Can’t people have concern for the guy? He’s old, it’s always worrying.
SPLIT LIP
Is it really bad timing considering Dan licks-the-frying-pan-because-he-can Schneider got his years ago?
