First Look At Build-A-Buddy Optimus Prime By Tomy

The Transformers licensing agreement between Hasbro and Tomy is trucking through (pun intended) very well and we have received word on a new product for little tikes.

Joining the Tomy Build-A-Buddy series is Optimus Prime.

While the toy does not transform, kids (or adults) can disassemble the figure and reassemble it as a robot or as a semi-truck.

Official Product Description:

“Hasbro’s famous Autobot leader comes to the preschool category with this push-along toy that kids can also build and rebuild as both a robot and a semi-truck, using the working drill and bit that has two AA batteries pre-installed.”

  • Available: July 2023
  • Product Dimensions (in): 13 L x 6.25 W x 7.5 H
  • Age grade: 18mos +

Along with Optimus Prime, the company plans to release other Build-A-Buddy toys in 2023; including the Batmobile, John Deere Dump Truck, and a John Deere Tractor.

Note: We only received two stamp-sized images of the toy but we upscaled it for our readers. Hence the potato-quality.

I'd have loved this when I was younger. Hell, it's still amusing now!
Now to sit back and see what people can build with it when they get a few dozen, since that always happens with construction toys, lol.

I think it is pretty cool. I would love is the screw size was the same as my son\'s other build toys so we can Frankenstein him.
