Hasbro designer Evan Brooks have just updated his Instagram account with images and comments about the new Transformers Legacy Core Dinobots & Volcanicus.
“Hi Transformer fans! Playing a bit of catch up since I forgot we were revealing Core Class Swoop and Skarr so soon!
These guys form the arms of Volcanicus that you can see in the first few photos. This gives the combined form pretty standard DLX articulation. He has shoulder rotation and raising, Bicep swivels and his hands can accept 5mm port weapons.
You can see that the waist and leg joints of Swoop and Scarr give Volcanicus the arm articulation similar to how Combiner Wars figures worked a few years ago. I just think the combined form is pretty neat. We’ve just got Snarl left! Hopefully we’ll be showing off the last foot soon.
Swoop compacts nicely into his Pterodactyl form and his wings give the combined form a nice spiky arm detail. We were able to give him ball joint elbows since he’s not as bulky as the other dinosaur forms.
Attached at the end is my concept drawing for Skarr. I based my drawing off the Comic appearance drawn by Livio Ramondelli from the Monstrosity arc of the IDW continuity. I was afraid (loaded with anxiety) that he wouldn’t stand out/look like he belonged with the other Dinobots but I think we got there. He turned into quite a beefy tank by the end. He gives Volcanicus a mean left hook!
Hope you all are enjoying what we’ve shown so far and look forward to the last reveal for these Core Class Dinbots!”

I'm a little over a month too late, but…

The second pair are made specifically to fit in the other legs so make sure you get those instead of another set of the original kit.

Dang I’ll go order up 2 more arms.

My only gripe with the DNA kit is the release date.

I really like this DNA upgrade kit, even more with the translucent swords, my only complaint is that it has only 3 styles of swords and guns, not even the original 5 weapons from G1. Sword we have Swoop, Grimlock and Slag. Guns we have Swoop, Snarl, the other one I dont recognize. The Matrix Workshop upgrade kits have distinct individual weapons, but is more expensive if you buy all the upgrades

Another 3D printed kit to try before the DNA set releases. Would’ve waited straight for the DNA ones but these shipped a day before DNA announced.

Still prefer the first set. The feet are on a stiffer ball joint so posing is easier. Also prefer the 5mm slots the previous fists have. More weapons options for sure.

That's true, Grimmy's robot arms would need to work correctly as robot arms, color match the existing figure, and then also support the weight and tab tolerances in combined mode. For whatever (probably valid) reasons, I notice DNA has done very few load-bearing parts, the Siege Magnus et al kits being some of the exceptions. I haven't broken any of my Seige Magnus legs or Black Zarak leg extensions, but I will say the plastic doesn't give me the confidence the Hasbro plastics do.

DNA looks nice. Now if only I could have found a single one of these dinos locally, but no, my Walmarts would rather only stock more SS86 Exosuits Spikes.

I'm okay with them leaving those joints mostly alone. I get tired of add-on kits that require outright replacing parts. And in this case doing so would create a cascading affect that would impact other components within the combiner.

I’m glad they listened to the community and found a way to add articulation to Grimlock’s arms, I only regret that we apparently didn’t specify his robot mode arms
T-Hybrid
It accomplished everything it set out to do because the goal was to create an all Core combiner.

I believe if they had all been voyagers, this set would've been perfect.
The engineering is there, it just needs that final push.
At voyager, they all could have had good articulation, and more ratchets could have been used.
Best of all, the group would've made even better dinoking members at voyager.
I understand why its only core, but still. Sooo close
LaShomb
Guess they couldn't find any way to fix that Sludge figure.
I almost wish that they made it a deluxe so that it could properly do everything it was trying to do. As a Brontosaurus it wouldn't be a problem for him to be a bit bigger than the rest, and the current figure seems undersized in the group shots.
T-Hybrid
Indeed. Who ever heard of such a thing?

Call me crazy, but I don't like this kit. What's the point of a combiner if they need outside parts to work? If the parts integrated with the single figures that would be great.
but I will say, I do love the smaller boosts for the figures. I wiah I could buy the new chest and swords for Grimlock separately just to have those.

The DNA kit looks SO good, but definitely curious/worried about the price. Personally, I’d trade the Grimlock arms and extra guns for better legs on Sludge’s bot mode. The orange swords do look rad, though.
Depending on price I may grab this.
