I personally don't have any strong feelings one way or another, I was just sharing the instructions. I think it's kind of silly as well. Whether it's called Legacy Evolution Wave 1 or Legacy Wave 4, we fans create our own confusion sometimes.
But for the gimmicks, let's not kid ourselves. I saw a great take by TF collector. The Energon weapon gimmick of last year, and "EvoFusion" for this year are just words someone on the development team made up to impress marketing ( or vice versa) to keep management happy "yeah we have a gimmick", even though it's not a line wide gimmick at all, it's just the weapons doing what they would normally do. But hey that font looks really cool on the package

It's Breakdown continuing to live up to his name!

Thanks, I had never seen the instructions before this. They went through the trouble of keeping the boxes the same for Menasor but didn't for the instructions.

After Siege everything* is a blur and has ended up mixed into shelves based on g1 season / g1 release year.
*The kingdom fossilizers are obvious, and are the only BW-style beast figures I've purchased.

With my memory man lol. That’s like saying if all of the MP44 boxes disappeared how would you prove it’s still a masterpiece?
OCDChad
The Pulse page for Breakdown is "Legacy Evolution Breakdown", but the box he comes in won't say that. How would you prove it's Evolution once all the Hasbro listings and product pages are gone?
Dann86
Its even come from Bmac the marketing guy its Evolution wave 1
Specter Sigma
What a ridiculously stupid hill everyone has chosen to die on. Were we calling Kingdom deluxes WFC wave 8? Does anyone announce toy lines based on Hasbro’s retail code? “Oh boy #F2990 is out in stores!!”
It’s a new year with new line with a new name and a new gimmick. To use Hasbro’s internal retailing product code instead of the nomenclature advertised to the consumer is a level of pedantry only possible on this site.

Again, it's a question of distribution versus marketing. Distribution-wise, Evolution is still Legacy.

Evolution Wave 1
Dann86
As Evolution wave 1. Just cause of packaging it makes no difference he is in the first wave of Evolution.
JazzAlert13
He is apart of L:E wave 1?

I never disputed that.
The question remains: How do you classify Breakdown?
Dann86
That was done on purpose so all inbox collectors could have the Stunticons in the same packaging. Its not an indication of overlapping lines etc. It was something the team had to fight for as it was using the previous line packaging whilst being part of the new Evo sub line under the Legacy banner

I think just calling it "The Wave With Soundblaster, Slug, and Sludge" is easier.
Either way, I guess this means they'll hit locally in a week or so – I'm hyped.

As I'm pretty sure I already explained to you the last time you brought this up:
The difference this time is that Hasbro is continuing the existing assortments, distribution-wise.
Combiner Wars was assortment # B0971 for Legends Class, # B0974 for Deluxe Class, # B0975 for Voyager Class, and # B0972 for Leader Class.
Titans Return was assortment # B4697 for Titan Masters, # B7771 for Legends Class, # B7762 for Deluxe Class, # B7769 for Voyager Class, and # B7997 for Leader Class.
Power of the Primes was assortment # E0566 for Prime Masters, # E0602 for Legends Class, E0595 for Deluxe Class, # E0598 for Voyager Class, and # E0601 for Leader Class.
(Hasbro's initial plan was to continue the existing Combiner Wars assortments for Titans Return, but then instead relaunched them under those aforementioned different assortment numbers.)
War for Cybertron: Siege was assortment # E3431 for Battle Masters, # E3420 for Micromasters, # E3432 for Deluxe Class, # E3418 for Voyager Class, and # E3419 for Leader Class.
War for Cybertron: Earthrise was assortment # E7124 for Battle Masters, # E7119 for Micromasters, # E7120 for Deluxe Class, # E7121 for Voyager Class, and # E7123 for Leader Class.
War for Cybertron: Kingdom was assortment # F0363 for Core Class, # F0364 for Deluxe Class, # F0365 for Voyager Class, and # F0366 for Leader Class.
Meanwhile, Legacy is assortment # F2998 for Core Class, # F2990 for Deluxe Class, # F2991 for Voyager Class and # F2989 for Leader Class. Those numbers remain unchanged for Evolution!
So this isn't entirely comparable to either the Prime Wars Trilogy or the War for Cybertron Trilogy.
A better comparison would be Fall of Cybertron and Thrilling 30, which kept the same assortment numbers between them (# A1421 for Legends Class, # 37986 for Deluxe Class, and # A1404 for Voyager Class).
Or, y'know, the "kids lines" and their subline imprints.
Robots in Disguise (2015) had assortment # B0065 for Legion Class, # B0068 for One-Step Changers, # B0070 for Warrior Class, # B0067 for Three-Step Changers, and # B0756 for Tiny Titans. Those remained unchanged for the "Mini-Con Weaponizers" and "Combiner Force" subline imprints.
Cyberverse had assortment # E4485 for Tiny Turbo Changers, # E3522 for One-Step Changers, # E1883 for Scout Class, # E1884 for Warrior Class, # E7053 for Deluxe Class, # E1886 for Ultra Class, and # E1885 for Ultimate Class. Those remained unchanged for the "Power of the Spark", "Battle for Cybertron"/"Bumblebee: Cyberverse Adventures" and "Dinobots Unite" subline imprints and rebrandings.
This is basically a variation of the old "is this wave 4 or 2023 wave 1?" debate, with the addition of a new sub-branding further fueling the flames.
Oh, and then there's Breakdown, who comes in original flavor, non-Evolution packaging. How do you classify him? Is he Evolution in all but packaging? Is the the only Legacy wave 4 figure that ships in the same case as Evolution wave 1 figures?
TFanPage101
I think they see it like a continuation of the waves just with a sub title, like Cyberverse had Dinobots Unite, or Robots in Disguise with Combiner Force
BB Shockwave
Pretty sure this is Evolution Wave 1, not 4. We never counted WFC Earthrise Wave 1 either as WFC Siege Wave 5 or something…
Rodimus Prime
I thought Doc Brown and Marty lived in America.
