Courtesy of vicegripx on Instagram, we now have an in-hand gallery of the upcoming and much-anticipated Legacy Evolution Deluxe Animated Prowl!
First seen a few weeks ago, it appears Hasbro did indeed listen to feedback on the initial Legacy TFP figures (as they mentioned in our SDCC Q&A) as Prowl retains more of his trademark features despite being G1ified – between this and Leader Skyquake it seems we can expect the updates to be more faithful going forward. Prowl is shown off here in his robot and vehicle modes along with his accessories and some poses.
Check it out after the jump and let us know your thoughts on the boards!

The Ironhide legs in the 2D art resemble Bayverse Ironhide's.

I'm sorry if this has already been posted, but does anyone have a comparison between Legacy and Earthrise Prowl?

Found Prowl today in Houston

And it’s also accurate to the show. So it’s would have been nice if they did that.

This is what a good kit does.
No real unnecessary features.

Disappointing that they didn't include the option to split the wheel in half. I always loved that on the prototype for the original toy and it would've been great to see that functionality restored (in a way).
Jazz of Staniz
This is actually pretty disappointing. I was hoping this would be an improvement over the original Samurai armor that hasn’t aged very well, but it looks like they just copied it and made it worse.
At the very least, I expected them to actually give us two wheels to place on the forearms, which would’ve been more accurate, but they didn’t even give us the option to put one on the arm without forcing us to have the blade out.

If they just could’ve made this partsform (which I think would’ve been easier and cost less), it would’ve been a lot better. Still wouldn’t fix the aesthetic issues, but at the very least it wouldn’t have the functional problems of the original.
When the silhouette was revealed, I thought this was going to be an instabuy, but now it looks like I’m going to be passing. I owned the original back when it first released and had gripes with it even as a kid, and seeing how this just copied that and made it even less aesthetically pleasing, I don’t see a point in paying DNA Design prices for that.

If you’re an incompetent engineer, and make the shoulder armor huge blocks which deliberately obstruct shoulder movement, then yes it would.
Otherwise, no. It’s not that hard to design something which fits into a peg and leaves room for the shoulder to rotate.

A mask would be fine, but it’s still a helmet built to fit over what is essentially a helmet. And given that the plastic can’t be made very thin, it makes for a giant bobble head. Either way, I think a slimmer, resculpted samurai head (with or without mask effect) would look better.

Everything looks too big
That may be good for compensating, but not esthetics. The Armor was very sleek in the cartoon
ScorponokIsHere
Wouldn't that mean his arms would be rendered 100% immobile? Like, if you plug those sidecar halves into his shoulders, there's no longer any room for them to move.
Blam320
I am disappointed they failed to realize they could have used the 5mm ports on the toy’s shoulders to hold those armor pieces.
In fact, I’m disappointed they just straight-up copied the design of the original Samurai armor, wholesale. They could have done a ton of clever things to improve the design, but chose not to.
TF Hot Rod
It doesn’t look that restrictive apart from the wheel on his arm. Hopefully the shoulder articulation isn’t terrible. Other than the shoulder pad and helmet being too big, I think it looks good.
Tetratron
hmm, maybe not a full on head but a mask on the Samurai-helmet, like how some real-life Samurai helmets had them, would have been neat.
ScorponokIsHere
is the "necessity to roll" really a "gimmick" that "hampered the original"?
because it is kind of a motorcycle
Trevor Belmont
What? Haha, they took the gimmicks, that hampered the original (the transformation gimmick and the necessity to roll) and translated it 1:1? Why? This isn't aimed at kids anymore. Make it partsform and look good, not this. This looks awful. I want a shield on either arm and not that whole bulky skeleton holding the pieces
Dear DNA, we are collectors, not Kids. This could've looked so much better
fartsniffer42
It looks nice, but DNA design has always been overpriced for me.
Zentropy
It’s a shame that the helmet didn’t come as a completely resculpted head— considering it looks huge when placed over the existing one— but I understand the reasons. Other than that, this looks like a fun upgrade to an already fun figure.
