Japanese store E-Hobby have updated their website with images and information of the fifth wave of their exclusive official super deformed Transformers cards.
These are prismatic cards featuring “chibi style” renditions of several Transformers characters. Wave 1, Wave 2, Wave 3 and Wave 4 featured G1, G2 and Beast Wars characters. Wave 4 brings us more Pretenders, G2 and our first RID 2001 character!
- Superion & Menasor
- Broadside & Astrotrain
- G2 Hero Optimus Prime & G2 Jhiaxus
- Iguanus & RID Bruticus
Additionally, E-Hobby is offering new G1 Transformers rubber keychains 3-packs, also in chibi style.:
- Starscream, Soundwave & Shockwave
- Bludgeon, Stranglehold & Octopunch
These products are available for pre-order only in Japan at the moment. The cards are sold in pairs for 980 Yen (about $7.37) and the keychain 3-packs are priced 2178 Yen (about $16.67). See all the mirrored images after the jump and then let us know your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

Really hope those G1 keychains somehow get released here.
Q Prime
Oh! Now I get what you mean. I don't recall Cerberus ever appearing in either of those.
NemiMonkey
Well shoot they didn't carry the card binder either. Hadn't realized that little tidbit, ergh I guess the only other option is a proxy service then. Or maybe e-mail BBTS to see if they are going to carry this wave. They did have the stands so maybe they'll do the keychains even if they don't import the cards.
ShockSound6
In the Godzilla franchise.
Iguanas is basically King Kong in an issue of Marvel, and looks a lot like Godzilla. So, if the Cerebrus was a villain for one of those two characters, that would explain why he was chosen.
Q Prime
Not that I’m aware of, but neither were most of the Pretenders and you see how many they’ve done.
Chadderbug
RID Bruticus is a pretty deep cut lol
Pteraxadon
Wait was jiaxaus even introduced in Japan?
Roadbuster25
I miss the exclusive eHobby colors and characters and backgrounds. They invented Sunstorm, Detritus, and so many more.
Bumblebee2000
HasTak just do that stuff globally now with stuff like Generations Selects and Walmart exclusives, what is there to miss?
Doubt I will be able to get this stuff in Australia which is a shame because I want that Starscream keychain
Roadbuster25
I miss the days the eHobby made transformer figures
THE-TRANSFORMER
Except BBTS hasn't carried any of the last wave, so I'm thinking they might no longer be carrying.
I'm now on the look out since I'm assuming eHobby doesn't ship internationally.
Vector Oracle
Nice to see Stranglehold get acknowledged nowadays. Now if only he’d get a Generations figure…
Cerberus is a three-headed dog belonging to Hades who lives in the underworld. He serves as a guard to prevent the dead from escaping back to the surface. RID Bruticus is a prison guard who prevents captured Autobots from escaping.
Q Prime
As in Transformers or IRL? And what’s that got to do with anything?
ShockSound6
Is Cerberus a Godzilla or King Kong villain or something?
Spyne98
I honestly had to look up who RID Bruticus was. I kept thinking Rumination haha.
NemiMonkey
WHAT THE FUDGE RID Bruticus!?!? The lineups so far have been kind of random but REALLY, kind of wonder what randomness the next wave(if there is one) will bring.
Only one I know of is BBTS. As far as I'm aware they've carried all of the other card releases as well as those acrylic stands, so it's a good shot they'll have the cards and keychains this time around as well.

Talk to me like I'm a total dingus – is there an easy way to get these in the States? I deffo want those Hero Optimus & Jhiaxus cards, and I wouldn't turn down that AM Shockwave keychain if given the chance.
MrLemming
I’m not much at all into the whole SD look, but those keychains are actually pretty nice. More so the G1 characters than the pretenders (Bludgeon is good, but Octo Punch and Stranglehold are a bit too generic looking IMO), but all six still retain their personality despite being deformed.
And let’s face it, about $17 per pack of three is a pretty dang good price.
Lockdown91
I'd be interested in the Soundwave, Bludgeon and Octopunch keyrings if they were easily obtainable to the UK.
Heck would get the other 3 too if it meant I could get those first 3 I'm interested in.

I just love how these cards are reminiscent of old school japanese prism cards. Quite pricy though
