Time for another look at an upcoming Threezero piece – Transformers the Last Knight DLX Optimus Prime. Coming in at about 11 inches tall, the DLX line is mid range from Threezero, giving folks a sweet spot between their MDLX / standard Hasbro figures and the super big (and pricey) Premium scale. Prime is of course taller given his size on screen, so he rightfully stands well above the recent DLX TLK Bumblebee, though exact scale is not 100% here. The figure features 73 points of articulation, multiple accessory swaps for the hands, face, and weapons, plus lights in the eyes. Paint is top notch as usual, the movie toys really shine when Threezero does it right, and this version of Prime does. The fine folks over there sent us a copy a little early to take a look at, so read on to check out over 70 HD images and some additional thoughts. He hasn’t shipped in full yet, so if you dig him hit Threezero direct or our sponsors below to snag your copy!

Threezero DLX Transformers The Last Knight Optimus Prime
Overall Thoughts:
PURDY. I prefer the pre AOE/TLK version of Prime in the movies, but in physical form in front of you the Western Star Optimus is a beast. Lots of metal, red/blue popping off it, very crisp helmet and mask. It’s just sharp. If the design had a little more visible alt mode parts showing it would be perfect IMO. Toy wise, this thing is well engineered. Stiff firm joints, everything felt high end, tight while handling. Nothing broke during handling (and I ran it well), and not much popped off from pressure during posing. The lights in the eyes are good, but not as stark bright as some previous models. Articulation range is top notch, it’s like posing out a Marvel Legends figure, but 11 inches tall with diecast and automotive paint. Bottom line, if you dig the look from the movies and have the space/coin to do so, it’s worth a pick up. Check out some shots below and then head over to the 2005 Boards to see what the fans are saying!

I was today years old when I found out that Ironhide had cannons and was a black truck in 2007.

Don't feel so bad, I didn't even notice he had a sword in AoE. How do you think I feel?
VVa
I mean I obsess over Bay Prime and I didn't notice. I only noticed the truck parts in his AOE robot mode but didn't analyze his sword. Ha.
Shmoptimus Prime
I meant "we" as in us nerds who obsess over these things haha
Well it's easy to notice in TLK but if you didn't obsess over the design from the aoe days then you could be forgiven for not knowing that it was a change from one movie to the next.

how the hell did i not notice this
its right infront of the camera

I mean, most people didn't.

Yes they added the stupid circular talisman knight thing like we wouldn't fucking notice. The first time you see Optimus it has a huge closeup of the sword handle.

the sword design changed between films????

I wish those Knight Optimus would be as good as their rotb one. That figure actually had an excess of accessories, it only needed to have an orange ax but instead they gave two which are the modes on and off, they didn't need to give two canons but they did so you could display him with the weapon in any side/angle, still with this one you can't even display the shield or knife in both arms, and it'd be ridiculously easy to make. And those figures aren't 2 years apart, I don't know why Threezero lacked so much effort with tlk Optimus specifically

Had to do a double take to see if this was a rerelease. The lack of additional techy details for the red sore spot from Quintessa's bitch slap of mind control (patent pending) is just rubbish for a line that prides itself on accuracy to the film models. As had already been said, the evil heads and new accessories seen here should have came with the first release, and this or that should have been more AOE based with different forearms and accessories from that film. The sword still being the AOE design and not the TLK one with the Talisman detail is another particularly lazy aspect of this release.
As it stands all of these issues just made me not bother with the first release, and I'm much the same for this one, it sucks since I really like the design and this is probaby the best figure that will ever exist for it but I have to also consider if I really want to spend this much on a half assed double dip release from a film that I hated. Everything is tilting towards these TLK optimus figures just not being for me, perhaps they'll triple dip and make a theoretical AOE version, as redundant as that would be now.

This figure has one of the nicest headsculpts I’ve seen.

Oh well.

Not good enough. It's a high end figure bruh

Would be weird if it was exclusive. Actually with this, I wonder if they're going to do a modified DOTM version of their ROTF Prime. They went as far as to make new weapons for Knight Prime, wondering if they'd make the proper mods and include Mega Striker cannon, Shield and Axe for Prime…

Standard release.

The stock head still looks good though.

Is this gonna be an exclusive or an original release ? I don't see anything on 3Z website…

The upgrade head you got from dino / capkomkai actually has all the intricate lines / markings compared to threezero's which is literally just some red added on the original headsculpt. Lazy work considering the head is literally the only "Nemesis" part about that look. And they are releasing this whole new figure just for that look so.. Guess we gotta go 3rd party once again for an accurate headsculpt lol
