Time for another look at an upcoming Threezero piece – Transformers the Last Knight DLX Optimus Prime. Coming in at about 11 inches tall, the DLX line is mid range from Threezero, giving folks a sweet spot between their MDLX / standard Hasbro figures and the super big (and pricey) Premium scale. Prime is of course taller given his size on screen, so he rightfully stands well above the recent DLX TLK Bumblebee, though exact scale is not 100% here. The figure features 73 points of articulation, multiple accessory swaps for the hands, face, and weapons, plus lights in the eyes. Paint is top notch as usual, the movie toys really shine when Threezero does it right, and this version of Prime does. The fine folks over there sent us a copy a little early to take a look at, so read on to check out over 70 HD images and some additional thoughts. He hasn’t shipped in full yet, so if you dig him hit Threezero direct or our sponsors below to snag your copy!

Threezero DLX Transformers The Last Knight Optimus Prime
Overall Thoughts:
PURDY. I prefer the pre AOE/TLK version of Prime in the movies, but in physical form in front of you the Western Star Optimus is a beast. Lots of metal, red/blue popping off it, very crisp helmet and mask. It’s just sharp. If the design had a little more visible alt mode parts showing it would be perfect IMO. Toy wise, this thing is well engineered. Stiff firm joints, everything felt high end, tight while handling. Nothing broke during handling (and I ran it well), and not much popped off from pressure during posing. The lights in the eyes are good, but not as stark bright as some previous models. Articulation range is top notch, it’s like posing out a Marvel Legends figure, but 11 inches tall with diecast and automotive paint. Bottom line, if you dig the look from the movies and have the space/coin to do so, it’s worth a pick up. Check out some shots below and then head over to the 2005 Boards to see what the fans are saying!

Ah that's good!
They shipped my replacement part today and should arrive within the next week or 2, while they originally said it may take 8 weeks.

I'm gonna try. When my premium OP lost a finger they sent me a new one free of charge.
EDIT: Wow they responded quickly! The good news is they are going to ship me the replacement part! The bad news is they said it will probably take two months or more… So for now it will stay on with sticky tack.
VVa
I thought it only covers it when your item is defective out of the box? Would be nice of them to send another part, but who knows if that's likely given all their Primes are out of stock.
XaxisGuy
Oh no, hope you can glue it without any problems, otherwise asking ThreeZero for a replacement piece might be good? I'm not sure if it falls under the repair services.

I wonder if this is the kind of thing the warranty would cover?
VVa
Damn.
Hopefully you got some really good glue and it actually sticks. Because my TLK Bee broke off his left foot tube also due to my own carelessness. And glueing it back on hasn't exactly made sure it stuck…
Shmoptimus Prime
I wasn't being careful while posing. It's a tiny hinge, and probably should have been metal. Right now I have the part staying on with sticky tack. Might just glue it, TBH.
VVa
How did this happen??
Shmoptimus Prime
Well fuck me. This tiny hinge finally broke. Fuck!

Fucking sick of these gauntlets coming off! It’s the one flaw with the figure. One literally fell off and fell down from my balcony today and I had to call my downstairs neighbor to go get it for me. So embarrassing haha! But seriously, those cheap fucks should have just molded the armor pad into each hand, which would also make swapping the hands way less of a pain. SMH.

Aside from the broken light for the eyes, everything is perfect!
Looks dead without eyes lighting up but he has a presence for sure

Thank the lord for their good customer service.
XaxisGuy
Ah I see, it appears to be completely broken on my copy.
Fortunately ThreeZero responded within a few hours and is going to send me a replacement for the light

I found that the placement of the batteries in my TLK Prime's head had to be specific to be able to lit.
XaxisGuy
Ye, I think so too. The rest of the figure is perfect so I guess I'll try and contact for a replacement piece.
Shmoptimus Prime
Damn that sucks. Maybe a wiring problem then.
XaxisGuy
Yeah and I tried using few different pairs of LR44 batteries but to no avail.
Shmoptimus Prime
Did you put them in facing the correct direction?
GokaigerSamurai7
I'd like to see ThreeZero do their take on ROTB Primal- I'm sure he'll turn out pretty good.
XaxisGuy
I put the batteries in, it does not light up
Everything else is solid though. And the same batteries work on the DLX Soundwave.
