For a while now, we’ve been hearing bits of info here and there about Transformers Rise, a video game that was being developed by Certain Affinity. Unfortunately though, over time it had become clear that there was turmoil behind the scenes, with some rumors even suggesting it had been outright cancelled.
However, we now have a new report which may provide some renewed hope. Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, who is regarded as one of the top gaming insiders, has posted an article suggesting the game may in fact still be in development, but was handed off to developer Splash Damage instead. The article also provides some other details about the game:
“The supposed free-to-play third-person MMO is expected to release in 2023 and has taken inspiration from games like Destiny, it was said.
In this team-based experience, fan-favorite characters like Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, and Megatron will be making their way to the game, with transformers being placed under different category types.
Somewhat similar to Destiny’s Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans, the Transformers title will have similar roles currently under the named Tank, Damage, and Support.
It’s believed the game has seen a few changes since it was under Certain Affinity under the name “Transformers Rise”, with the codename for the project apparently now being “Fortress”, one source said.
As for the game’s plot, it’s understood that the Transformers will be fighting a new enemy (on Earth) under the name of “The Legion”. The Legion are new enemies in the Transformers universe that consist of organic and non-organic matter that can corrupt transformers that turn them into bigger and badder versions of themselves.
Developed on Unreal Engine 4, it was said that the game felt “very outdated but has potential”.
With an apparent 2023 release, we should be hearing more about the game in the near future. No details were shared on which platforms the game will release.”
With The Game Awards coming up next week on December 8th, it may be a good event to keep an eye on due to it being a primary place for yearly video game reveals.

The only, ONLY saving grace is that the Warframe devs are helping, so I pray they chimed in enough to say hey that's a bad idea and do it more like Warframe.
Nem
Pretty much this, yeah. I am deeply concerned that in a market with games like Avengers, Gotham Knights, Anthem and now probably Suicide Squad, TFR is just going to be another notch on the failed licensed live service game counter… but hopefully this game can succeed. I think the mere "live service" branding is going to scare a lot of people away, but I think a saving grace of TFR that puts it above those other games is well… all of those games were $60. I believe that's what pissed a lot of people off the most, that they paid full price for a game and still got the live service bullshit. I think, hopefully, the fact that TFR is free (we know it was free during CA's tenure, and everything I've found while sleuthing Splash Damage employees on Linkedin leads me to believe they kept that.) will hopefully give it some leeway in the eyes of the public.

Best it prospers, worst it bombs because of stupid shit like being heavily monetized or purposely time gating stuff to make you wanna buy stuff.
Optimuscan12
What do you guys think is the best and worst outcome for TFR when it releases
Soundlips
Yep, now you are getting the gist of it and why I and others try to warn people months ago that when content is scare, people will make shit up. But hell there is literally no need because Splash Damage is finally making reveals themselves, I mean they finally came out and said what engine it will be in.
Dirge121
Anyone who genuinely thinks this will be a ‘X-killer’ title is deluding themselves. As long as it has the Transformers branding attached it will appeal almost exclusive to people who are already fans.
Besides that, all the ‘news and updates/leaks’ accounts for this game are bullshit, they have nothing to discuss other than information about a build of the game that could have been entirely scrapped years ago. I get it though, there is nothing else to talk about and likely won’t be anything to talk about for months. Splash Damage showed the reveal trailer way too early to then just go completely silent, should’ve kept it hidden until they actually had something to show off.

Everyone is coming out of the woodwork to call Luna out on his crap. I found out a while ago that this was the account that posted those screenshots initially and forced Luna's hand when he had initially intended to dripfeed them out, I kept an eye on him ever since to see if he'd post more but seems he ran out pretty quickly. He's pretty inactive (probably because besides "leaks" there's hardly been any news) but even he came out to clown on him, lol. I think the way they articulate their points is pretty close to my own sentiment. Shitting on other people's games is just going to make them hate us.
Optimuscan12
I do wonder if it will be next gen only since it’s on UE5
Nem
Well shit, it actually is in UE5. https://twitter.com/splashdamage/status/1638589439650799619?s=20

I don't have the words to articulate just how much I agree with you, so I'll just say I agree with you.

Yeah he's a hack. And HOLY shit, this fucking guy man, I just saw those tweets, he straight up went out and attacked Destiny and proclaimed everything wrong with it, then proceeded to flaunt Reactivate without seeing or knowing just about anything about it. He doesn't have bragging rights when literally no one has seen recent footage of it. I'm glad people are tearing him to shreds because every since he found the leaks, he developed an ego thinking he's the hottest shit in town but he's not.
Not to mention, what the hell is this so called development progress or whatever the hell he keeps posting old screenshots like it's new shit. He's so desperate for content, it's not even funny. I am honestly surprised Splash Damage haven't distance themselves more if they haven't already from him for both leaking the info, straight up making false claims, and recycling content for views.
I'm all for nerds sharing what they love and trying to find more about what they love, but for fucks sake, don't be a prick about. There's no discussion, no fun back and forth banter, no reason beyond getting more views; it's just an echo chamber of how great he and Reactivate is.
That's why I like this site, and created multiple threads for Reactivate cause I don't know everything about it, but I want to chat, discuss, argue and engage with people who truly love and care about this beyond just getting views and want to do it for the hell of it cause they genuinely enjoy it. I'm here for the fans/die hards, not the views.
Nem
It seems the general public are finally wising up to the fact that Luna is, and always has been a hack. Most of the replies on twitter are flaming him. He's a content farmer that had his hand not been forced would've dripfed those screenshots for months.
Optimuscan12
I remember when people will call Anthem and outriders "Destiny killer" and look how both turned out when the launched. I hope TFR doesn't suffer the same fate.
octobotimus
He said that!?
View attachment 29874200
that is single handedly the dumbest thing I’ve heard all month. I’m genuinely impressed someone could think this after warframe celebrating 10 years. Hahahahaha
Hey remember when people said Battlefield 2042 would kill Call of duty?
GamingDotCom
I think he needs to shut the fuck up ngl
Soundlips
Thanks, did not know that and yeah, that could 100% be in the realm of possibility, especially if he is a transformers fan. I don't really keep up a ton with content creators but he is definitely big enough that if they could get him and a few others to strongly support the game, then this game could live long enough to do it the justice it deserves.
Optimuscan12
Well Splash damage could ask Shroud to promote the game. And incase you don't know, Splash Damage and Shroud are working on a game together and Shroud is a big content creator. So Splash damage could ask him to promote TFR since they're working together.
Soundlips
Yeah, so Luna… isn't the best source no more. He's kinda gone off the deep end with the just trust me bro stuff and is most likely making stuff up for views or greatly exagerating stuff to get views and new content when there is none. I personally woulnd't trust what he says without seeing it being backed by official sources as he has already shown a few times he will just make up content for views without any actual sources. Predictions are fine, but when you blatantly say it will be this or that with zero sources is a whole other thing.
Personally, I don't think it will come close to killing Warframe as they have a very dedicated playerbase with a very good sized playerbase. Destiny is 50/50 but that really depends if the devs can get back on the right track, but that's more the devs fault for putting out questionable content than anything, but even so Destiny still has a huge playerbase. It will not be a Halo killer game, as those game typically fail, but I think it will do decent. It really depends how fun the game will be, how predatory the mircotransactions are, but most importantly, if we can somehow get the big YouTubers/Streamers to support this game. I have seen big games flop because a big personality didn't back it or properly get the word out there and share/support the game, and small games that shouldn't have seen the light of day become more popular than AAA games.
In this day and age, Media Personalities are everything, and I fucking hate it. Hell, if you get one of their armies backing it like Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, or Pewdiepie, ect then there will literally be millions of fans who will back literally whatever the hell they say. It's annoying, but true. If we truly want this game to suceeed, as much I hate to admit, we need to get some of these big personalities to back this game because sadly, I don't think the Transformers name is strong enough on its own to really make this game succeed. Plus a lot of good reception will depend if people like RoTB. If they do, then they will want to try this game and more TF media, and if the don't they won't want anything to do with TF media.
Frosty Coffee
The problem with that line of thinking is, it's a false premise. Without seeing official gameplay presented by the developers. How can one call a game a killer or exceptional game? Plus that is one person's opinion not a fact. We haven't even entered Closed Beta Testing. No reviews are out. While even I myself like to hype up this game. It comes from my own personal excitement not a fact of the final product. Everyone can have their opinions. But when it provides false info with no base/grounds then how can that be trusted?
Optimuscan12
https://twitter.com/dpzluna/status/1637490749586415618?s=46&t=0DfZdRaZQq-o-td0rG2_3w So dpz luna is saying that TFR will kill destiny 2 and warframe but I don’t believe that. Destiny 2 and warframe has a huge playerbase. It’s going to be hard for tfr to take those players from those games and i hate it when games are called killers. Like “halo killers” and then when those games release, it’s usually a failure. I don’t want that to happen to TFR
