Hot on the heels of the highly-anticipated first trailer for Transformers Rise of the Beasts, we have news of who all will be joining the film’s main voice cast alongside the previously announced Peter Cullen, Ron Perlman, Michelle Yeoh, and Pete Davidson, via Deadline. For this reveal, we learn that David Sobolov, known for his previous work as Depthcharge and Prime Shockwave, will be voicing Rhinox and Battletrap, Peter Dinklage will fill the main villain role of Scourge, Liza Koshy will be our newest voice for Arcee, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez voices Nightbird, Cristo Fernández as Wheeljack, Tobe Nwigwe as Reek, and John DiMaggio, known for movie Crosshairs, lends his voice to Stratosphere!
Stratosphere and Reek’s roles in the film are currently undisclosed, especially if the former’s appearance and/or personality will align with his previous toy and video game representations, but stay tuned to TFW for more Rise of the Beasts news as the marketing die has been officially cast.

I hope he's portrayed exactly the same as Mighty Eagle

Deep voice? A bit gravelly?

I'm watching videos of Peter Dinklage and thinking what kind of voice would he do for a menacing dark robot like Scourge?

"Current trend" bruh animated movies casting celebrities over voice actors has been a thing for many decades and is basically a transformers tradition. the 86 movie cast Nimoy, Wells, Robert Stack, Eric Idle and Judd Nelson, none of whom were voice actors.

Didn’t realize they’d cast Depth Charge as Rhinox. It’s cool that at least 1 OG voice actor found his way into this project!

Liza Koshy was Zipp in the recent MLP movie and I thought she was pretty good in it. And honestly, while Dinklage sounds big, I don't know how he'll translate into acting, I remember his performance in Destiny being so awful they basically replaced him in later updates. Ron Pearlman seems like he'll be fine as Primal. Most of the other names besides the obvious(Peter Cullen, David Sobolov, John DiMaggio) though I'm pretty unfamiliar with

Keep the dream alive, brother. Fuel the jet!

Sounds like a good way to introduce commander class into SS which means at long frickin last we could finally see the one and only DEVCON!

Bummer was really hoping for the voices from the bumblebee movie because they sounded perfect.

Im with you on this one, Bumblebee is the only on screen version of Jacky that makes any sense. Que was his own character and thats who this version should be…although that crappy old VW bus still sticks out like a sore thumb among a pack of Autobots who all have well kept car modes. And a VW bus is a pretty stupid choice for a vehicle mode to begin with, they drive HORRIBLY. If they want to make Wheeljack sound latino…cool. In the original cartoon he sounded vaguely like he was from the Northeast so he had some charisma that way. He was also portrayed as being a skilled racer in alt mode, rounding out his mad scientist bent. This version seems like he’s just gonna be a dork, and the weak link of the team which is a bummer. But we’ll see…

David Sobolov actually liked my tweet where I said how nice it is to see him play a Maximal again.
I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl.

So I guess this just leaves only Cheetor with a yet to be confirmed voice actor. I mean according to the leaks (Which by the way I still wonder how much of it will be in the final movie despite one or two things being outright confirmed) he does have speaking lines.
Shadow25
I'm not sure how seriously I'm supposed to take you, considering I'm sure you know that Jolt was not in DOTM and didn't have a voice actor in ROTF anyway.
But for argument's sake, yes, characters like Ironhide, Ratchet, Starscream, Soundwave, Wheelie had enough lines over the course of the films they appeared in to warrant professional voice casting. Megatron, Jetfire and Sentinel Prime even moreso.
And the AOE Autobots like Hound and Crosshairs had plenty of dialogue across their pair of films.
I'm not saying that they shouldn't all have more screentime and impact, which was improved in AOE and seems especially improved in ROTB, but I still hope for a quality voice performance whether they have 5 lines or 50.

How many Transformers in the first 5 movies
Like, did Jolt ever speak in Dark of the Moon?

I think the hesitation is regarding the fact that we have plenty of cases in the entertainment industry where they hire a 'name' for a voice role and that person, while possibly a very good screen actor, either just can't pull off a good voice acting performance or phones it in.
The Transformers movies up this point have largely avoided this by going with pro voice actors like Cullen, DiMaggio, Harnell, Adler, Kenny – and of the few 'names' they did cast most had lots of VO experience and/or were good fits for the roles (Weaving, Goodman, Nimoy, Bassett, etc.).
Now it's probably not fair to judge just yet considering we haven't actually heard any of them except for Cullen and Perlman (and Perlman fits right in with the category I described above), but it's definitely a consideration especially when the robots clearly seem to have larger roles this time.

Yeah but David Sobolov is also a voice actor and he most likely isn't as well known as the other celebrity cast members.
EDIT: Also I have no idea who the hell Liza Koshy is.
Novaburnhilde
I don't get why people lose their minds over a famous celebrity showing up in these casts, as if that means anything if the script they have to work with is ass. While it's true that a good actor can elevate shit with their performance … That's not a guarantee.
I'd rather have a cast list of nobodies / newbies to the industry get a shot and do a really good job than spend a chunk of the budget on famous people with star power and hope that's enough to get people interested in your movie.
Also lol Liza Koshy as Arcee.
RodimusZero
I guess I’ll hold my criticism until we see the film/hear these performances… but just looking at that cast list… I feel like the characters are all going to sound annoying & it’ll be distracting. Personally, I was kind of hoping that we’d finally get a “good” version of Wheeljack, aka his G1 self, and I was disappointed when he was made a beat-up van, and now I guess he’ll have a Mexican accent? I mean, if he’s still a scientist I guess that could be ok, but I feel like from the casting that doesn’t seem like the angle they’ll go for…
I don’t know. “Bumblebee” for me was the best Transformers film we’ve gotten so far, but seeing as it kind of underperformed compared to TF 1-4, I’m sure some exec at Hasbro or Paramount thought that was due to it not being “fun” or “zany” enough… I just hope that they haven’t 180’d to a bunch of obnoxious goofball Autobots in this one…
AspiringCreator
That's the official reason they gave I'm aware… but to be frank game devs and publishers will give out reasons like that for the sake of not killing any potential working relationship. Considering the criticism that performance received and everything surrounding Destiny? It seems way more plausible that they used Nolan North's hiring as an opportunity to wipe away the bad performance.
ZeroBG82
That's NOT AT ALL what happened with Destiny. Not saying the Dinkle-bot's performance was brilliant or anything, but the reason Dinklage was replaced by North in that game was simply because Dinklage was too big and too busy to come back and keep recording new lines for the Ghost. Bungie wanted the Ghost to be talkative, to be the player's link to the narrative and the game world, and so they went out and got somebody who could be counted on to return for lots and lots of new lines with each expansion.
