Does G2 Megatron's arm cannon plug securely to his shoulder? I thought I read somewhere that it doesn't, unlike what the promotional photos show.

I've never agreed with a post on this forum more
G2 is the reason I'm here talking to y'all right now*, and I'll always love it
*(well, okay, that and Car Robots)

In terms of the future, upcoming Ultimates waves are redeco heavy and most S7 employees working on TFs were laid off months ago. And it doesn't exactly feel like they found the same groove or success with ReAction OR Ultimates with TFs that they have with Joe.
But with o-ring G.I. Joe coming (at ReAction price point) and S7 looking at possibly other O-ring figures, I wonder if we could get ACTUAL Action Masters in the style of the original at the $20 price or maybe $25 with accessories?
In some ways, I think THAT would be more exciting to TF collectors.

Probably because, IMO, both those alt heads are weak in their own right. The sculpts are off, the pink face being oversized for the helmet, whilst the blue face is a pretty weak sculpt all around. It's soft and the expression doesn't look that great.
This is the exact alt head I would've wanted. G2's comic is remembered for its extreme style, so much so that even MP G2 Sideswipe got a new head sculpted in that style. The G1 cartoon head is a pointless accessory IMO, and the blue faced one just doesn't emulate the comic at all.
All of G2 Megatron's heads encapsulates how the S7 figure just doesn't "get" it. They neither embrace the source material or stand on their own as worthwhile headsculpts.

Given the ridiculous/appreciated/period-accurate amount of weapon accessories, I am a bit bummed he didn't get the face from that iconic cover. Otherwise can't complain.

I don't know, but I'm sure glad you did.
That's the good stuff!

Without engaging with any of your other points, I'm also a bit confused why nobody else has posted photos of swapping out the "toy" head that Megs comes with by default for one of the more comic accurate heads.View attachment 30182864 View attachment 30182865

i'll also argue that RED has gotten a lot better; the last few waves have much better feeling plastic and articulation and sculpt. Shockwave, Galvatron, Prime Optimus and Megatron feel GREAT in-hand and have a ton of joints that do not feel limited at all.

My scale (with Wheelie+Fish accessories) reads out 26 ounces//1.625 pounds.

Alright, you've convinced me to buy him.

Okay since someone said it, I've been thinking exactly this sentence every time I see one of these figures. I know you're not referring to the S7 line overall, but IMO this does feel like it's making a lot of the same mistakes that line made. They even have that same, slightly gummy look to the plastic on some characters.
I will say S7 at least keeps a consistent aesthetic, which is a huge boon, but these things are expensive for what they are. The materials and paint jobs aren't anything special, and there's lots of documented cases of poor QC, and there's a lot of rather blatant scale and sculpt discrepancies. The articulation is also such a huge letdown to me because it feels limited even beyond what the style would allow. The posability makes no efforts to work around the sculpt, it just stops at the instant it meets even the smallest hurdle. No hidden joints, extending joints, or anything to work past the sculpt limits.
I've said it before, but when you're a non-transforming Transformer, there's not a lot you have to offer over the transforming ones given what they're capable of these days. Aesthetics and articulation matter a lot without transformation, and while the aesthetics are admittedly inconsistent, the articulation is almost universally weak on these figures. I was really excited for G2 Megs because it's actually G2 Megs and not just a random Generations tank Megatron in G2 colours, but boy am I let down by that face and posability.
I'm not trying to brainlessly shit on these figures but I can't help but wonder about what this line could have been.

Goddammit! How much does the S7 figure weigh? Lol…

Mine has the same mark on teh snout, must be a sprue mark thing? But that is a weird place to have one?
I decided not to mess with it to make it worse.

Any chance we can get more comparisons of S7 vs regular Transformers going? Really would like to see how Grimlock and Wreck-Gar compare to their SS86 versions at least.
Girl Pants
I knew Grimlock was going to be big, but I was still really shocked when I saw them side by side in person. It's insane that they cost the same, lol.
