VELOCITRON SPEEDIA 500 Collection Wave 2
I love to follow Formula 1, so when the opportunity arose to help tackle some race car deco schemes to support wave 2 of the Velocitron Speedia 500 collection, I was eager to help out. It’s only fitting that I would write this up while watching qualifying for the São Paulo GP.
Check out Crasher and Shadowstrip here together and be sure to check them out individually in each of their respective post.
It’s race weekend, will you be watching? LET’S GO!!!
Legacy Velocitron Speedia 500 Collection Shadowstrip
Okay, let’s talk G2 Shadowstrip! If this character doesn’t look or sound familiar, it is likely due to the fact that he is based on an unreleased G2 toy redeco of Dragstrip. He’s an amazing livery to revisit, and he fits in right at home for this Speedia 500 collection.
With Dragstrip being able to throw off some classic Tyrrell P34 inspired vibes with its six wheeled Formula 1 design, a black and gold heritage colored livery is very at home on this redeco.
Knowing the color separation of the molded parts were established for Dragstrip, I wanted to get some sort of checkerboard striping to the side of the vehicle that wouldn’t too disrupted by the split chassis acting as a seam down the side. I ended up with a waving checkered flag design that accentuates the gold used through out the rest of the vehicle.
The robot mode brings forth some of the tertiary blue color used on the blasters and the windscreen, and is finished off with a bright red visor and some bright gold accents to the chest and knees.
What do you think of Shadowstrip? Do you enjoy his as an entirely new character? Or do you just think of him as being G2 Dragstrip?
Legacy Velocitron Speedia 500 Collection Crasher
Time to talk Deception Crasher after months of images of this character popping up at retailers all around the world, it was great to see her show up on Hasbro Pulse for an official release.
Crasher has some obscure transformers history, spawning from her comic debut in the early 2000s but more importantly in her inception as a GoBot where she was depicted as a Porsche 956. But something that never changed for her was the black, red and white color scheme.
This depiction of Crasher utilizes the kingdom Mirage tooling and features and alternate head that was already a part of the molds. It makes for a distinct look and helps to capture some of Crashers unique attributes. The heavy black eye-line also really help to highlight her yellow eyes.
Overall its a very fun vehicle livery that had to work with in the constraints of the original mirage mold layouts. Crashers design allow for the red accent colors to accentuate the stark contrast of the white and black, and uses more subtle gray metallics to deliver a refreshing new Decepticon race car.
How do you feel about this design? Have you been waiting for a new Crasher figure? Let me know in the comments!

The Menasor limbs are too specialized to be used for another combiner. If you want scramble compatibility, look for CW / UW limbs

if there gonna repaint dragstrip they better repaint some other combiner limbs. I\'m predicting that later in the toy line there gonna make superion and repaint some of those and make a new combiner character. but knowing Hasbro they\'re gonna repaint and retool when they can. and they better sell a legacy mirage that is just the kingdom mirage but NOT in a duo pack seeing as the mirage mold was being used for crash who was by the looks of it sold separately. So Hasbro better get to explaining themselves

I really dig both of these decos. I'm all for more G2 and more GoBots. I think I might like Shadowstrip on Menasor even more than Dragstrip, heretical as that may be.
marvel b
fun fact: Crasher's head is casted in the same mold as her waist/crotch, so underneath all the pink and black paint is red plastic
Jeddostotle7
Man, I know they kinda couldn't cuz Shadowstrip was already being not only a reuse of Drag Strip but a primarily-black one as well in the same wave… but I do really still wish they'd made Crasher on the Drag Strip mold, I think Drag Strips proportions and body shaping are a much better match for Crasher's than Kingdom Mirage is.
Rodimus Prime
I made a custom out of it.
Quippy
They couldve been sued and I dont think they are willing to take that chance. Besides, the POTP jazz mold is a bit outdated compared wfc deluxes. And the
p rasher being a mirage repaint already exists.
Rodimus Prime
I prefer the original colors but I already have plans for the g2 versions

IMO the G2 colors are way better, they give a lot more personality to the limb bots.
Burnout
Hence the retooling.
Rakzo
The vehicle would have been more fitting but POTP Jazz is the weakest mould from the weakest line in recent years.
Burnout
I think they shoulda retooled the combiner wars jazz to use for crasher.

I love new characters. I loved Alpha Bravo and Off-Road and Rook. I’d love to see them updated in Legacy. All it takes is one writer to do something with these characters.
Yes, there are a lot of older characters that need updates, but we need new characters to help the franchise grow as well.
RodimusRex
I love the colors on G2 Menasor so I hope this isn't it. But I'll take whatever they produce and be happy with it even if we don't get a full combiner anytime soon. Waiting will make it that much sweeter when assembled.
Siberian Prime
"new character", huh?
Well, I care for him as a character as much as I care for, let's say, DK-3. If they really cared they probably wouldn't copied Dragstrip's bio and used it as Shadowstrip's

It's a toy…it exists in the physical state that it is. The name they attach to it is irrelevant.
HeavyArms
I dig em. If I see them in retail I’ll pick up.

Not really. They have a ton of existing characters that are going neglected already. Throw Shadowstrip onto the pile of new characters that will be neglected and forgotten about that don’t add anything to the mythos.
I’m not going to support a trend where existing G2 color schemes are being turned into new characters. Just keep them the character they’re supposed to be.
