Seeing as that this thread has mostly gone off topic despite repeated attempts to prevent that, this thread is closed.

All I have been trying to say is one and yet nobody seems to want to listen….

It has been very, very tempting for me to jump into this hellscape of a thread with my own opinions, but I’m not gonna do that. Instead, I’m going to ask the big questions:
What is the point to all of this?
Why is there an argument about what will likely be a one-episode fictional character that no one’s going to care about once the show’s over?
How and why does a change to said fictional character affect your actual, real life?
And why do you care if someone does or doesn’t like said change to said fictional character? You’ve all said your opinions and it’s pretty clear none of you are planning on changing them anytime soon, so why bother? Can’t we all just, y’know, coexist on the same site while having different opinions?

Looks like you’re the one having a hissy fit that I’m not drinking the Kool-Aid. You were relentlessly attacking me last time I dared to voice my own views upon something too. You were slyly lying in wait for me to respond to this thread despite my response being the same as other people earlier in this thread.
Then someone will quote this post having their own hissy fit. Then I’ll say “See, told you.” and then someone will have a hissy fit over that.
And then the posts are going to get scrubbed. We’ve been here before.

Honestly while some of the Unicron Trilogy stuff was cool and I grew up with it alongside Animated and G1 in the late 2000s but the name slap stuff was a bit 50/50 to me. You had cool stuff like Jetfire, Scavenger and Thrust etc but some characters like Ironhide, Blurr or Sideswipe didn't entirely work for me.
Although in Ironhide and Blurrs case, they're cool, they just lacked what made the originals unique or distinct to me and should've been a different character.
I prefer the fact that more modern TF shows and media of the past 15 years are more consistent with certain design aspects and looks for characters throughout the franchise.
I'm all for reinvention and taking the franchise to new places but I still want some consistency when it comes to designs and how the characters look/act to an extent.
It's like other long running franchises and characters, you can do new stuff, styles and takes but at least keep recognisable aspects that make them iconic and who they are. But that's just me

I don't even mind reusing names, but then I got in to TF during BW so I was surprised how many BW guys I came to learn shared names with G1 guys even if they weren't the same guy. For me it was totally bizarre hearing various BW voices coming out of non-BW versions of the characters once the UT started.
Most notably was Optimus Prime and Primal having the same voice.

Y'know… I know it wasn't a popular decision with many folks back in the day, but now that we've had Animated, Prime, Cyberverse, and now Earthspark all basically "G1 characters, but with a few changes…", I miss how AEC had the characters as mostly new takes. Sure, a lot of nameslaps, but even then they were all different. If you had a listing for Ironhide, you had no idea what you were getting. RID01, too, but I couldn't stand that show enough to finish it.

we aren't losing anything. it's just another version of skywarp from another universe. you are the one continuing to throw a hissy fit over it
Bass X0
We wouldn’t be losing anything if the female grey and blue seeker was not called Skywarp and we had an actual black and purple Skywarp repaint of Starscream later.

Seekers invite to gender-swap. Let's face it.
Personally I don't like it (I am too much G1-centred for this), but I can image (and understand) the reasons of doing this: fresh new to the character, new series = new twists and storylines… I'd be the first to raise an eyebrow at gender swaps, but it is probably not fair to criticise a new series and the new interpretation of the characters simply because it doesn't match with previous series or version of the characters we are already fans of. I am the first to admit that if it were up to me, all the series would be based on G1 characters (as they were), and I can guarantee the entire fandom would then be complaining that it is always G1, G1, G1, G1… nothing fresh, nothing new… etc etc etc.
I bet the younger generations, without preconceived standards, will love the show and enjoy every minute of it. I probably will too after the first time I see the character . Even if my favourite version of Skywarp remains male…
Truth be told, the toy looks genderless/male, and without the black lipstick the actual character could have passed as either, male or female. I think excluding that would have been the best approach.. leave it to the fan's imagination
T-Hybrid
And I'm telling you some of the same people have complained about "all new" female characters.
I did like the Grandus vibe of the Cybertronian Seeker mold, though.
AlphaCentauri
As long as she has a bouncer bomb then all is forgiven. (Not like I am mad at the gender change anyway.)

A few of us are definitely bothered by the mold choice. I haven't liked that mold since it came out.
