Is Summer 2023 any different from any other years though? Toys of different franchises always compete for shelve space between toylines & other (seasonal) stuff for retail floor space. TF haven't been the behemoth that it was for years, but ROTB should help see its space expand for a few weeks, before the retailers make space for the next hot cakes in its rotation. But looking at the IMAX charts, it's Indiana Jones, The Marvels and some other Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks properties after ROTB. Should be fine… besides, it always happens season-to-season.

The toys can literally be right next to eachother depending on how that specific Walmart/Target is set up. Also Spidey is like Batman in that both will perform well independent of how the rest of Marvel/DC.
Either way, I don't think it is a good idea for anyone looking to sell toys to release anything near a Spidey movie.

I'm keeping my hopes up. Somehow, I don't see SV & ROTB the direct competition like the MCU vs. DC rivalries. If you ask me, I love Spiderverse more than the last 5 TF movies. But I still went to see them all and I will for SV2 & ROTB.

I expected competition, however what wasn’t expected was one of the most hyped up movies of the year being placed 1 week before ROTB. That’s very strong competition that starts negatively in no acting the less popular film. Again only 1 week apart from a very hyped up film, that hype won’t be dying down by ROTB’s release unless the film is horrible.

Good point on Marvel, but MCU Phase 4/5 got nowhere the captive audience size as before. Some people got tired on MCU, while it's been years since a new TF movie (that's on the back of a generally well received Bumblebee). I think ROTB got some fight against the competition to make a good showing on ticket sales.
Expecting no blockbuster competitions in the summer is just unrealistic. My thinking is, Sony's Spiderverse will likely have a 2 weeks opening window before ROTB opens, should be enough for SV's hype to die down and people are ready to see another Blockbuster. If they premiere on the same week or just 7 days apart, I'd worry more. It's doubtful it'll be another case of Topgun: Maverick that just rolls over everything for months.

I was talking more about the kind of people who will scream that the Lion King remake from a few years ago is a live action movie despite only one shot being real, and watch something from TF, Star Wars, or Marvel without issue with their abundance of CGI *shrug*

Christopher Nolan film on the scientist that played a major role in developing the nuclear bomb. It looks good

What's Oppenheimer
octobotimus
Yeah….. no. You definitely haven't seen the massive hype built around that film.
As to people who wouldn't watch animation thinking its for kids… they'd also not watch transformers for the same reason so they aren't exactly worth mentioning.
JS_Prime
ROTB will do just fine with Spiderverse out. We still have people here in 2022 who think animation is just for kids and will therefore wait for the cool live action movie to release, even after the reception of the first SV.
Marvel only has one movie in July with The Marvels. Oppenheimer is a Universal flick.
Electro Rush
I won't lie, I'd rather go see Spiderverse.
octobotimus
Marvel has a connected universe making people Feel obligated to watch both movies. Transformers and spider verse release within a WEEK of each other, they are very much competing.
Bumblebee probably would have made more money if it wasn’t competing with aquaman and (funny enough) spiderverse back in 2018. Going to the movies is expensive, and casual movie goers will have to chose 1 over the other.

So what? I mean, Marvel got 2 movies in the same month of July. Is Marvel fighting itself? So I think there's a 2 week window separating Spiderman & TF, just normal summber blockbuster competition.

I forgot Spiderverse comes out right before Transformers. This movie is so screwed

Well I know where I’ll be the night of June 22nd
Bayverse4ever
I hope it comes out in Imax 3d

Good point.
Godzilla Vs. Kong went through a similar scenario of delayed releases and I love that movie so hopefully Rise of the Beasts will be excellent as well.

Luckily for me I work at a cinema that has IMAX and it isn\'t far from where I live
Thundershot
Too bad I don't have one within 50 miles of me, much less one that's local.
