Hasbro designer Mark Maher is coming to us once again on his Instagram tonight with another behind the scenes look at a new Transformers figure. This time he’s offering some details on the recently-revealed Holiday Optimus Prime!
“Holiday Optimus Prime is going to light up your holiday season with a plethora of goodies for all sentient beings!! He comes equipped with his candy cane ion blaster, his matrix of holiday spirit, a candy striped trailer with his auto-launcher robot on the gift giving deck and he transforms into a snow covered licensed Volvo truck that will make anyone smile when dashing through the ❄️!
.
Optimus is an all new mold, all the parts are unique and stylized to really make this Volvo VNR 300 look spectacular. The trailer is the same mold as the Leader Earthrise Optimus Prime but its redeco’d in white to evoke a snowy fortress appeal, sorry Superman, but this gift giving deck is far superior! The robot (auto-launcher) has alot of cool abilities and articulation, it can even come off and attach as an extra accessory to Optimus (forgot to show that here! Sorry!) the trailer door also comes off and can act as a frosty shield to block all types of snowballs!
.
As most of you can tell, his look is based on a holiday appearance in the comics and I never dreamed Optimus would look so good in shiny black boots. I was able to do the deco for him but I was not involved in the upfront design.
.
The transformation sequence will most definitely leave you merry because its the gift that keeps on giving. Takara Tomy has truly been making my holidays a magical experience since I was a kid. I am truly honored and amazed daily at what they’re able to accomplish with the brand we all know and obsess about. The leg transformation is very astonishing and so satisfying. The head sculpt colored in a metallic blue and has holiday green cheer light piping. Made sure his face was painted the silver metallic but his battlemask is frosted with a snowy white. I really love the back mudflap design, the whole back end is really appealing as I just love the exposed thick truck snow tires. His chest does open up to store his Matrix, I apologize on the blurred areas, stamped sample numbers are all over this guy.
.
Pop-O the Clown and Yule B. Bored made an appearance from the Botbots universe but unfortunately they will not be included in the set.”

And… Mohawk from Legacy Iguanus!

Honestly, it's a good way to get out all the released G2 Dinobots or at least Snarl and Slug/Slag.

Yes please, I'd buy this and any G1-ified-styled movie design like Ironhide out of Scraphook maybe.

Matrix of Holiday Cheer.

Undoubtedly yes.

CW Devastator scales well with SS86 the uncombined Constructicons should be medium sized deluxes and even the UW versions have clunky individual articulation.
I want to display them individually so CW/UW is a weak offering compared to modern toys. They're oversized and not terribly articulated.
I have a downsized KO but I'd take something official to display individual Constructicons.

It's the "EVERGREEN MATRIX".
Actually, this Matrix is simply jealous of other Matrices. Why does the blue Matrix get all the love? And the red Matrix? There's a Nemesis Prime repaint nearly every year. But does the green Matrix get any love? No. It's just the stupid Creation matrix form the old Marvel Comics. Nothing to see here. Secretly, the Green Matrix waits for its moment to strike…stalking its prey…biding its time…

You know I gotta asked, is his matrix is called the Matrix of Festiveness?

The CW Constructicons scale well with the SS86 Dinobots, so I'm unsure if Hasbro would do an all-new mold. I could see them taking the Unite Warriors edition with the extra articulation and weapons and doing a special SS86 release with it, though.
Otherwise, I think the Constructicons will go Core Class in SS86 and give us a 10" tall Devy. 12×6 is $72. And Hasbro has shown they're willing to release six individual Core Class gestalt figures. Alternately, he could be a Core-Class COMMANDER release.
G1 ain't done until the Omnibots show up.
It is G1, more or less. But the confusion you feel is why we need to stop labeling "continuity families" and think more in terms of "eras". 1984-90 is "G1 Era". 1991-1995 is "G2 Era". 1996-2000 is "Beast Era". Etc.

That blast effect is from Tricranius
Stryker055
That one is from the Tricranius pack, I believe.

There's no indication that he comes with effect parts, going by the product info on store pages.

can anyone tell me that that Green blast effect is include with him or did they just put that in there.

A bit more expensive than I'd like but I pre-ordered. He can go at bottom of my little (I'll likely have the other Optimus is ape form at the top of the tree doing his best King Kong impression, like last time*)
Generally a nice looking Optimus and truck. I wish the truck windows were the same as the chest windows. I accepted it with Laser Prime since his grey chest wasn't even trying to be the black top of the cab. I wouldn't mind the snow white on the top of his chest as well since this is a Christmassy figure anyway.
But to end on a positive note, overall looks good. Glad to order.
*Actually two Christmases ago. I didn't put up the tree last year. Have the Kingdom Beast wars figures really been out that long?

there was nothing aggressive in my post, so there's no need to tell me to chill.
