Transformers Masterpiece MPG-02 Getsuei Official Transformation & CGI Promotional Videos

The official Takara Tomy Hobby Channel YouTube account have just treated us with two new promotional videos of Transformers Masterpiece MPG-02 Getsuei.

First we have a very detailed step-by-step transformation video. From his realistic  EF65-1000 Electric Locomotive alt mode to robot mode and combiner leg mode. We can see this is a very clever and original transformation sequence. We also have a look at the way you can use the extra railway pieces and flying stand.

Then we have a very nice promotional CGI animated video showing off Getsuei coming down from the skies at night under a full moon, then transform into robot mode to finish in an anime-style pose with the moon as background.

Not much left to say, so watch the videos after the jump and then sound off on the 2005 Boards!

Personally, I'm just willing to wait for a ko if there'll be any. I don't do this very often but I'm not going to stress out over a fact that I invested 700 bucks in a set that may be broken out of the box. At least 4P companies are providing replacement parts…

That is the way I am rapidly leaning. I may just enjoy shouki as a one off and get kos if they make them or a mainline one

Its a weird design, the inner side of the leg is a kind of ratchet, so when it bends it feel ratcheted, the actual part rotating is a friction joint.

Dang. I’m deciding whether to pull the trigger on this for 140 USD or not , but all these issues are making me question whether or not I will even continue down the mpg line.

Personally, I'm just willing to wait for a ko if there'll be any. I don't do this very often but I'm not going to stress out over a fact that I invested 700 bucks in a set that may be broken out of the box. At least 4P companies are providing replacement parts…

Have the ratchets in Getsuei's knees worn down a lot on anyone else's copy? mine have become pretty loose and there's visible powdery debris around the joints which I assume is plastic dust

mine is still fine but the knee ratchet was never that great to begin with on mine but have not gotten worse

I got the Bishoujo Optimus Prime from them the other day, and I have Masterpiece Skyfire ordered, even though I'm not actually expecting that one to be filled.

Also the product listing for getsuei no longer appears on their site so I guess that's that.

I greased mine and the stuff on the bottom of the faux ratchet is what ever is attaching itself to it, maybe rub from the black base, but even then the actual hole on the slider is clean so like you mentioned that's not what's happening. The detailing is designed to look like a ratchet but there is nothing it’s actually ratcheting with. I would say it’s like Getsuei's leg part, just dont try to slide it over without bracing it.

The little molded bumps on the knee joint are interfering with the black plastic to make it feel like it’s clicking. That’s how it’s designed. You should be feeling little bumps as you bend the lower leg. It’s not just a friction joint.

This is not true at all. There is no ratchet in the knee. It’s a friction type “soft ratchet”. Meaning there’s no actual gear or spring. It just works by interference. And the knee breaks we are seeing are definitely being caused by the factory assembly and are there out of the box. Bending the knee might make it worse over time if it’s already broken. But bending the knee is not the cause.

I think the black post that's part of the lower leg that the knee pivots on is breaking because of the ratchet (or at least constantly sliding the knee on the post for transformation) so the knee loosening up is just a tell, try some lube or other compounds on the joint

Edit: I would recommend not moving the knee more than you have to to avoid it getting worse. That’s why I’m doing. Both knees are cracked on mine.
