Would you like to own a piece of history of the original G1 cartoon? Heritage Auctions website have updated auctions for some animation cels used for the classic G1 episode “A Prime Problem”.
We learned about these auctions thanks to Peter Chung (via his Instagram account), one of the animators who worked on the G1 cartoon back in the day. As stated in the Instagram post, he can be messaged for details. We have 5 active auctions which will end in about 14-16 days. You can find them on this link. and if you have a bit of luck (and the money, of course), you may be the owner of these original G1 animation cels.

Combining these three with all the Aeon Flux material Peter has consigned to this auction: currently stands at over $112,000 in sales.

Three have sold:
Spike/Starscream/Jazz: $11,400.00
Prime/Jazz: $8,400.00
Starscream: $4,080.00
plus auction premium.
The other two are still on sale – currently at about $1,000 each.
That feels crazy money.

This is pretty neat, it also reminds me how easily you can find animation cels from Neo and BWII on various sites.

What would be a reasonable price for each of these?

Heritiage Auctions… too bad they couldn\'t go with a more reputable auction house. (For those not in the know, Heritage Auctions and Wata Games have a rather buddy-buddy relationship. You may recall several \"record breaking amounts\" for videogames in 2021, which on closer examination appears to hae been a wash where one director of the two companies \"sold\" it to another director just to inflate prices. This was done as Wata was getting into the video game grading business – so it\'s in their best interest to have \"record breaking\" auction sales to promote the business).
I have no doubt the items are real, but I have real doubts if they get sold to real collectors or just someone internal just to boost their sales.

“Jazz, hit the deck! I want a clean shot at Starscream!”
I know the clone said this, but it’s still a great line.

Peter hasn't specifically said so, but as it's part of the same lot, I'm assuming this cel from Powerglide's PSA is from him too.

Some of these would be perfect for pics on the wall behind my MP collection…
…but some are already pretty pricey…
…guess I'll have to settle for screenshots!!!

Me after seeing that it's an auction and not a thing that can be instantly ordered/bought:

Dammit I really like that Starscream one, but it’s already almost $300…
C.W. McConvoy
I wonder if he knows what studio animated that episode. I think it\'s one of the debated ones.

Just a note – Peter Chung was a storyboard artist, not animator
