Courtesy of Hasbro designer Mark “Markclonus” Maher, via his Instagram account, we have good quality and clear in-hand images of the new Transformers Legacy Deluxe Pointblank & Targetmaster Peacemaker plus some concept art images of the toy. As usual, Mark has also shared some comments about the development of this figure.
Deluxe Legacy Pointblank and his Targetmaster Peacemaker are finally here to hop into your collection! Had to break out my mint Crosshairs to showcase how both of these bots looked together. I had the pleasure of doing the deco for Crosshairs and I was kinda bummed I wasn’t able to get Pinpointer in there. This time around since I lead the design of this guy I thought it was essential to add in Peacemaker. I soon realized how cost challenging it was to include a target master at a Deluxe scale and pricepoint. The first image is my own redraw concept art of Pointblank and Peacemaker. Ive been really using alot of reference art that everyone already knows and loves, especially with tight schedules, they seem to be great for kicking off the project. You can see the reuse of the comics art alt mode here was perfect to use. I absolutely love this rendition of his cybertronian race car alt mode. Hasui san took the reigns and made the great suggestion of doing the fin styled head that was never made in toyform. Anything that is in the g1 cartoon is a go for me even if its from the later seasons.😜 You can see an additional weapon engine accessory was costed out along with a bunch of other comments made to fine tune this guy. Hasui really had so many tweaks in order to fix up this guy, I just couldn’t find a way to showcase them all here. I added my comments to ensure we were aligned on trying to make this the best version of Pointblank ever. You can see the targetmaster is blast effect compatible. There is elbow swivel on Pointblank for those that have been asking, but the articulation range on this guy really gives you a plethora of posing options and is really fun to tinker with. The arm transformation was a treat and I can’t wait for yall to get these guys! Have a great weekend and thank you all for bringing your passion and support to the Transformers universe!

It's a great example of a character whose animation model is in no way intended to be a physical, transforming toy

That's true but if you leave it on she has the most egregious backpack I've ever seen. It's a lose-lose.
She's the perfect example of Hasbro not really knowing how to integrate the alt mode into fembots.
Q Prime
She’s got a horrific backpack, but taking it off/partsforming is a choice on the user’s end.

Pointblank is disappointing for me only because of the standards and quality set since Siege (and the fact that we've been waiting for a new Pointblank since G1 certainly didn't help). But if I really look at all the list of overall Deluxes we have gotten since 2013…. Pointblank isn't really that bad in comparison, maybe just among mid tier or average. I wouldn't say Pointblank is less quality than, lets say, any of the Combiner Wars/POTP deluxes or some of the Thrilling 30 deluxes like Dreadwing or Trailcutter, let's not even get into the Fall of Cybertron deluxes. Even with all of this, discount sales exist. It's really not as bad a situation as some make it out here. Still many hits in the Deluxe range, though its not Pointblank. And even so, I'd rather a Legacy Pointblank than a Combiner Wars Sunstreaker if you catch my drift.

Agreed! The lifeline version was awesome! All she needed was an extra layer of paint details.

ER Arcee is a fine action figure, but she's one of the mist egregious parts formers in recent years. Literally half the alt mode.
Revan1307
what wrong with er arcee it a fun figure an i prefer it to the ss86 and the gen30 ones by far
BBJazz
Because he's missing a bicep swivel? Small gap in the back of the car? Fairly hollow shins?
I can't bring myself to care about any of those issues. It seems so petty to pretend the whole toy is trash because of nitpicks like that. He's a good size, his transformation is fun and feels great, he has no loose joints, he's pretty well-painted, nice little mini-figure, he's got a lot going for him.
Edit: ER Arcee is not fine. I refuse to believe you think this poorly about Point-blank but give a pass to Arcee.
Currywurst
What the fuck are talking about?!
Wildrider is fine. ER Arcee is fine. ER Prowl, Ironhide, and Ratchet are fine. Velocitron Cosmos is fine. Their exclusive nature is fine.
Every Optimus toy ever that people can't stop whining about one little detail is fine.
Pointblank is a hot mess and a disgrace on the part of the design team who should have stopped fighting for inclusion of a nebulan when it was clear the main figure was going to suffer for it.

The key difference is that the people who might be looking at our suggestions and taking them into account on this board aren't the same people setting the prices. Hasbro is in deep shit right now, as we all know. It doesn't matter if Mark or Evan go out of their way to try to convince the higher-ups at Hasbro to drop prices, it'll never happen.
Mark and Evan can push for a character we want, or a general design chance, or an aesthetic. They can't change the price. If by some magic chance the prices ever do go down, it won't be because of complaining on a message board.
I think criticism in a fandom is an important tool, one that needs to be directed at the right thing.
Sonic's movie design was improved based on fan feedback. But a ticket still cost the same.
See there's a difference between criticism and mindless negativity. Criticism of loose joints or crappy articulation can potentially lead to improvements in the future. Criticizing the price, won't.
If the thing you're criticizing can't be improved upon, then you're just filling the boards with mindless negativity. This isn't a rant thread. We're here because we're fans of this stuff, incoherent negativity will do nothing but drive people out of the fanbase and scare new people away from ever joining.

Pointblank was a chunky, slightly larger-than-average toy for the pricepoint which impacted his ultimate parts count, and his lacking arm articulation was more a factor of all the joints already crammed into that area that interfered with a "normal" articulation setup. Still feels really solid in-hand. Just a tiny bit more limited than usual. Doesn't prevent you from doing a lot with him, regardless.

I've seen you on here enough times to know that nothing can actually stop your complaining.
Point Blank is fine.
This is universally true for toys rn. SH Monsterarts have nearly doubled in price for less quality. That's just how it goes unfortunately.
GizmoTron
Some are worse products like Pointblank, others are not and are arguably better.
Not much different than any other era. I mean, it's easy to wax nostalgic about great toys like ROTF Leader Prime or Cybertron Prime while ignoring some of the absolute junk we got in that same timeframe, too.
Gepard
Which would be fine if we were paying more for the same quality. We're not. We're paying more – much more, more than official inflation – for less.
Jorts
ROTF prime is definitely the outlier. Most of the old movie leaders are pretty mid. There's a reason that mold got rereleased constantly and others didn't

Who are you to decide what is a valid opinion for discussion?
By that metric, do you honestly believe that there will never be negativity in discussion again? Aren't you complaining about something that won't change?
And yet I heard people much like yourself swear up and down that they wouldn't. "Gimmicks are what kids want, and kids are the main focus, they'll never leave the mainline." "G1 sells, they won't deviate from it in any meaningful capacity." "Scale is impossible due to size classes, we'll never have accurate scale."
Every thing you consider to have been a valid complaint was considered an invalid complaint by at least one person at one point. There is not quantifiable limit to "meaningful" negative discussion.
Prices can go up, but that doesn't mean quality of design or product has to go down. You never know what can and can not change, and it certainly won't change as long as people blindly accept it.
And whether or not an individual poster can affect change on the brand is immaterial. People are allowed to voice their grievances. They're allowed to be disappointed by a product.
Everything we discuss here is for the sake of it. Imagine, discussion of a discussion board.
I suppose this then begs the question: is anyone dwelling?
The problem here is you have one poster treating an entire perspective of an issue as one unified opinion as if it's a single entity making the multiple posts. If one hundred posts complaining are made by one hundred people, and fifty posts are made by one person praising it, that's just one post per person complaining but one guy who's super happy. It only looks like it's overwhelming negativity because of the number of people sharing a negative opinion, but is that really more emotional investment into one side over another?
And I reiterate, I've had plenty of people tell me the things that have changed wouldn't. I remember when Beast Wars just wasn't coming back. Nope, sorry, it's G1 all the way, no room for Beasties. It just wouldn't be profitable. Leader Blackout? A meme. Titan Tidal Wave? In your dreams. Imagine how far back we'd be if everyone who was told the thing they wanted was never going to happen because things, as they were, just weren't going to change.
Hell, remember 2012 and the horrid FOC line? Yeah, that was apparently the inescapable truth at one point.

I don’t think he’ll come to your house and take your keyboard away (and he shouldn’t!) but… good to know that you wouldn’t let him do that!
I would argue that’s also part of the price increase- cuts on parts count and paint apps. It’s like, you either get a compromised figure at current prices or it’s not happening.
We know how things work. Budgets are allocated to groups of figures. So some figs get slightly better paint, parts and size and other figs are smaller, less complex. The designers are juggling who benefits the most from more budget and who is “harmed” the least with a decreased budget.
I don’t think we should be playing “opinion police” but reality kinda sucks and some of us are choosing not to dwell on the sucky parts cause it’s not gonna change.
I’m still ride or die with mainline HasTak. I know I’m way too forgiving when Hasbro really cuts corners so I need to hear the critical messages. Simultaneously, I also tune out anything that comes off as entitled or bratty.
Regardless, YMMV.
Revan1307
Can't wait for sureshot to come out so I can displays him with crosshairs and pointblank
Rodimus Prime
It's not the price increase, per se, but the fact that many are worse products, like Point-blank.
