Twitter user @HailKingCrimson has shared an image (originally found by Discord user Blaster Meister) revealing our first in-package look at the new Transformers Legacy Deluxe Minerva.
This figure is a white and red redeco of the Legacy Elita-1 mold with a new head inspired by Minerva from the G1 Japanese Masterforce cartoon and new siren lights for the vehicle mode roof. According to the information shared in the Twitter post it was found at a Walmart store in Colorado, but this figure was rumored to be a Walgreens exclusive. In any case we also have a clear pic of the code bar for those interested in tracking this figure.
Update: Blaster Mister 55 has just shared in our boards images of the assortment box plus one in-hand image of Minerva.
See the images after the break and then sound off on the 2005 Boards!

The entire Masterforce cast is awesome.
The usual dismissive attitude is just nonsense. Takara, a proper Buster & Hydra pls.

.
I actually did !
I had the Kabaya gum plastic model kits when I was a kid . Every summer my family ( we are from Florida ) would vacation in San Francisco for a month . In Chinatown ( yes China town , not Japan town ) there was this plastic model store full of gundam stuff , which I was not interested in . But one corner of the store had the kabaya model kits . It was here that I got star Saber , deahsaurus , metal hawk ect . I didn’t know they had larger toys or even a cartoon at that time but we played with them along our other transformers all the time like regular toys . I remembering being confused on the Cybertron and Destron thing . Thought that in Asia they had the Autobots on Cybertron and the Decepticons on another planet called Destron LOL

Yeah I grew up with TF1 and TFA (Prime I did watch after the other two Bay films tho, and some G1 episodes on demand) and yeah he doesn't look that much different than the US G1 stuff tbh and the animation model isn't that much off from post S1 G1 stuff.
Q Prime
I'm pretty sure we have several Japanese board members, so it's a possibility they might've had him. But yeah, not growing up with the design doesn't make the design any more weird than the western G1 designs. As someone who grew up with Prime, I think Metalhawk as a character model and toy doesn't look much different to the American stuff, just has an anime flair.
And @octobotimus have you seen the G1 Superion model? The wing position on it looks no less awkward than on Metalhawk.

I don’t think any of us here had Metalhawk in the 1980s, and few of us were aware of Masterforce until much later.

Nope. I'm a fan of Japanese G1, not IDW. I want this:

Yeah, just like how the animation models were all over the place with Sunbow, it was the same with Toei's animation models too. My preference is for the picture I posted above. The wings appear to be placed more on the upper arms than the elbows. And the wings appear to have flipped around, looking more like they are positioned on a Decepticon seeker.

Again, I didn’t grow up with it so saying that’s the way it was on some toy ages ago doesn’t do much to sway me on the design itself. The solid yellow torso and head with white on the sides and back looks weird to me, and the bend at the elbow still makes no sense with the wing just randomly bending, as if it’s made of rubber.

I don't think one should ever try to make sense of Transformers character designs…

That’s how the toy was though. The most notable difference was that the grey of the toy was changed to being white in the show. I’m not seeing any weird wackiness to the color scheme. I agree that his left arm in the picture does look off but his right arm shows how his arm bends at the elbow.

The weird arms that make no sense with wings as elbows and the color placement of the legs and torso are wacky. Just looks really weird.
Stepper
For this traditional 1980s Transformers anime design, this Minerva already look fantastic.
Bass X0
What doesn’t look good about the anime design? It’s just traditional 1980s Transformers.

Since they have release Minerva under Legacy, will hope for a headmaster Minerva in the future.
octobotimus
Idk, I didn’t read Idw and obviously didn’t grow up with G1, so both to me from just a design perspective look equally shit tbh.
Thundershot
That one looks a hell of a lot better than the IDW one..
octobotimus
Tbh neither look all that good.

Oh god, I hope the new Metalhawk isn’t based on the spindly abomination that is IDW Metalhawk… He might as well have been a whole new character as he shared no qualities from Masterforce Metalhawk.
Transform4Christ
Kinda like this?

Too bad we never got an updated figure of Fixit to go with that shot.
My preference would be for a straight up recreation of the inner robot, both modes based on the animation model, without trying to emulate the Pretender shell. Though, I wouldn't say no to a faithful recreation of the Pretender shell in the R.E.D. line.
