Via Twitter user @Prime0318 we have our first in-hand images of the new Takara Tomy Transformers Premium Finish PF SS-05 Optimus Prime.
This is a improved movie-accurate redeco of the Studio Series SS-05 Voyager Revenge Of The Fallen Optimus Prime mold. The figure includes the two blades of the original release plus 2 ion blasters which came originally with SS-32 and SS-44 Optimus Prime toys. As we can see from the images, this a very nice deco improvement with shiny paint apps and several additional details compared to the original release. We have images in both modes and a side-by-side comparison with the firsr SS-05 Optimus Prime mold.
See all the images after the jump and then let us know your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

I like it. I got all of them except Bayverse OP (because it doesn't combine with Jetfire) and Ratchet.

Yeah the only one I could kinda get was the prime but you could get basically identical megatron and ultra Magnus from the Netflix line for way cheaper
I think the Netflix spoiler UM and megatron are both still available across different sites lmao
Pcsolyar
Seems to have been replaced by the BWVS line

To be fair, the PF Siege line was pretty pointless.

I think so, the wfc siege ones which are like half of them are still in stock at bbts so ig that wasn’t good enough for takara which is a shame imo
I have the ss bayverse prime and megatron and love them

I can't find any at a reasonable price so I assume it's selling.

So what has become of Premium Finish line? Did it not sell well?

Ok so my brother and I traded Primes and I have to say this has become my favorite SS Optimus figure!!!!!

Now a fellow board member, @CamaroBee in fact, told me he used the clear caps from paint brushes as extensions for the smokestack and I have to say they work great!!! Found one that fits perfectly on the existing ones so no glue is needed!!(Robot pic was taken before adding the brush caps)

Not the best pics as I took these in a hurry but he is myain Prime now for sure!!!!

Really? Then that's not bad at all and I assume the same thing for Rotf Megs. Didn't Hasbro put this as the "Rotf" version since he came with a backdrop of the forest battle?? And I just looked up some scale charts and I see exactly what you're talking about on their height.
See I think he has a better truck mode as it's more solid and less gaps. Plus small straws cut to length help on the short smoke stacks! Lol the colors on him are really eye popping!! Thanks for the suggestions you guys!!!

SS05 is my favorite Bayverse Optimus figure. He's fun, solid and can pull off some pretty impressive poses. I really don't have any complaints.
John TheDestroyer
He shouldn't be. He's just a hair shorter than SS32 Optimus, like less than a millimeter. He's certainly shorter by an inch or so than Megatron, but he scales since the scale charts but him at 28' and Megs as 35'
smiller0570
See I've always preferred this chest on him as I loved it on the First edition Prime of TFP. I just hope he isn't too small against SS54 Megs in person
John TheDestroyer
He is pretty much better than SS32 in every way, other than his chest detailing. So if you prefer this look and can find him for a decent price, I would definitely recommend it. He's less fiddly, easier to transform, more solid in both modes. If you like the way he looks with the slightly less accurate chest then you can't go wrong with the figure
f-primusunicron
i also like the mold despite what most people think about it, so yeah, if you see it at a reasonable price, go for it
smiller0570
Thanks for all the suggestions!!! This helps a lot!!! I'll think for sure about it but he is very tempting if I could find him at a good price!!!

I won’t buy this. I’m waiting for the SS32/44 (if any), which I think is worth the price.
lil society vert
I think he’s def worth it if you can get him for retail, mold isn’t ideal but the paint is really good looking imo
Effigy
Insane, they couldn’t give him away a year ago.
VVa
He's good, looks great but not worth the prices he's going for on the aftermarket. Weird, I see 10th Anniversary SS-32/44 go for less on his own than PF SS-05.
smiller0570
Sorry for bumping this thread but I've been curious. Is this version of Optimus worth the buy??? I've always liked how this version's chest looks compared to SS32/44 and preferred his backpack too. No giant hole unlike the other one.
I've been thinking about him but his price has skyrocketed too insanely for my liking(and wallet lol) but thought I would ask you all here who may have him what your thoughts/ opinions are with him.
