Thanks to our team at the San Diego Comic Con 2022 event we have a look at the Transformers Shattered Glass display. We have images of the following figures:
- SG Ultra Magnus
- SG Blaster
- SG Jetfire
- SG Ratchet
- SG Slicer & exo-suit
- SG Starscream
- SG Blurr
- SG Goldbug
- SG Optimus Prime
- SG Megatron

Would do buy all of them if they rereleased. I'm hunting for SG Megatron now
BrooklynBots
I mean, it's a double homage. If you want it to be SG Wheeljack, it's SG Wheeljack. If you want it to be G1 Slicer, tada!
Same deal with SG Ultra Magnus. Intended to be the SG version of the character, but with the option of Delta Magnus and Magna Convoy should you so choose.
Betting the last SG 2022 character is Soundwave. How do you release Blaster but not Soundwave?
BombSquad
I don't think they've ever publicly spoken about the process, but I would assume Hasbro commissioned the SG comic specifically to market the toys.
einhazard
Headband soundwave or bust
T-Hybrid
If it's anything like Power Rangers, IDW is given guiderails and *some* creative freedom, but ultimately Hasbro gets the final say.
Which is a lot of words to say: It's both. Hasbro has stuff they want IDW to include…but then if something IDW does clicks Hasbro will respond. That is, I assume, why you see a lot of original characters in the comics borrowing modern molds. It allows IDW to have some creative freedom while making it easy for Hasbro to respond with toys if those new characters click with fans.

I absolutely love the SG Universe.
To see the hero script flipped is intriguing. I just hope they release SG Decepticon Sideswipe soon. I have the actual Botcon version of SG Sideswipe, SG Drift and SG Ricochet but I'd love to see them all released in this current SG line.

Question: Did Hasbro make the figures to go with the IDW comics, or did IDW make the comics to go with the Hasbro figures? This is super cool. I still love Blur the most, mainly because how they turned a meh figure into a cool figure. Well, also because of the whole bounty hunter thing too. Pretty cool to see them all fight.

the "Reverse Counterpart" universe is something that has been in existence since the original Star Trek series. transformers didn't invent it or make it iconic. Fans love to see their favorite characters in an "Evil" universe. How they look, how they behave, whether or not they have a goatee? Star Trek, DC Comics, Marvel Comics. It is a very popular trope in a lot of franchises.

How can you be "so tired" of something that hasn't seen release outside of BotCon until now?
JS_Prime
Hasbro put them out just to taunt us with Starscream, of course
BombSquad
I wouldn't bet on it. I think they just want to have the whole SG collection on display to hype up the ones available for order. After all, they have Victory Saber out and that'll never be available again.

Love shattered glass designs! But at this point, this event has no sense, the yellow elephant is in the room.
Hasbro is showing Transformers that we all know are turning yellow even out of the box.
@l3x
I’m so tired of Shattered Glass, it confuses me that it became such an “iconic” theme. Most of the color schemes just don’t appeal to me at all (with the exception of Skyfire-colored Starscream).
doomtron
I would totally jump on that optimus if he got re released
Omegaclaw
I just noticed prime and magnus are facing off. That\'s pretty neat
DaveWire
I hope so. My brother’s preorder for Starscream got cancelled and I’d really like him to have another chance at it.
Ankle Tilt
Same. I'm SOOO hoping these are on display because there will be a rerelease.

I wouldn't mind having the Optimus re-released, but if SS86 will have a Voyager Ironhide mold, I'd want SG Ratchet from that instead of it being re-released from Selects.
I'm the type of guy that calls the red one and the blue one whatever Hasbro calls that specific incarnation. That wouldn't work on me.
But I'm a dork, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
IgnikaMarcus
Hell, the whole "double duty" aspect could've been achieved by something even simpler.
Leaving off the faction logos entirely.
Call it "Autobot Slicer with Exo-suit" on the box but on the toy, don't have any faction logos.
That way it can be either/or from the get go.
But no, they decided he needed an insignia and they chose the wrong one.
To remind the masses once again, Slicer in this version of SG is not a Decepticon.
