Painfully accurate. Still holding out hope that MPM-04 will see a re-release or update at that point, seeing as the 15-year mark is quickly coming and going…

You want better paint job for MV1 Autobot set? Just wait 5 more years for the 20th anniversary version to be released in Summer 2027.

agreed completely, there are definitely cheap sacrifices made in the paint apps across the board which are a little frustrating, but I do feel this displayed as a team works more than the original releases, and it makes me feel a little better seeing that Takara didn't give ratchet his gun either haha. I don't know of a cheap way to get that gun, but I think there is a cheap way to get optimus' gun, some upgrade kit on ebay that's been selling for a few years has his blaster in an arguably better paintjob than the toy.

There are areas that could do with more paint, but there already were on the originals, so they're no worse. Just a shame they couldn't harken back to the days of the AOE Platinum Edition sets, which did have a better deco across the board. My only issue with the set is Optimus should have one blaster and one sword, but they're probably gated off in pairs so I get why they didn't do that, and Ratchet's blaster would be a better inclusion than the saw.

I understand folk's issues with the paint, I'm right there with ya. But I don't think hasbro is going to compete with Premium Finish so I'm trying to see the bright side on this team as a whole and judge them less as individual figures.
The more I look at this lineup the more I find things I like more than the original releases. The price can't be beat on this, and I think overall that the paint apps have been re-balanced across the team to create a more cohesive look. The original release SS49 bee was a mess of plastic color IMO between dark grey and black and optimus was in that strange space where he had enough paint to look messy but not enough to get past the mess and reach that screen accurate look, which requires gold and flame accents IMO. Also ironhide looked really flat compared to the rest of the team. This isn't premium deco but its cohesive IMO. I love this optimus' chest more than the original, those tinted windows pop, same with Bee's tinted windows.
There is no denying that the premium finish bots will look amazing but the overall price will be substantially more than this and it might take a few years before we have this same lineup in Premium Finish form. By that time the ROTB autobot lineup will probably be my favorite lineup anyways, depends on whether they retool bees 90s camaro look (god it would be so great if they could get the wheels behind the shoulders) and if they refine the BB optimus mold (primarily fixing the lower legs and feet so it's not based on the concept art), if they do some retooling to those figures they will be perfection for me.

No doubt the Takara Premium deco is amazing, just keep in mind that only Prime is around 55$ and Bumblebee around 35$ (Or more). Only these 2 characters are more than 60% of the final price that amazon is asking for its set.
Actually is very understandable that Amazon is not offering Takara premium deco, final price will be really high.

I managed to get a knockoff BB prime with some nice deco. If it wasn’t for the fact he’s loose I wouldn’t have bought the ss Optimus’ (apart from the dotm one). He’s just perfect in both robot and vehicle
troglodyteman217
the existence of ss05 is always something ill question. while all ss primes are good figures, never got why they had to like reinvent the wheel when they had already struck gold with both the rotf leader and the voyager battle blades prime who scales just as well as the current one
Luke Hostad
Yeah it still does seem like a weird figure to go for but this goes down to both companies… why wasn’t ss32 the original figure? How can you plan a studio series with the quote “film accuracy” and not have ROFT Optimus combine with jetfire…
f-primusunicron
he meant the premium finish version which indeed uses the ss05, many people commented already about that and how disappointed they were with takara for using it, while having the best paintjob of all of the studio series bay optimus
Luke Hostad
Is it too late for them to remove the left handed sword and replace it with a blaster? Or a left handed one.. seeing as we could have two symmetrical ion blasters.
Luke Hostad
Sorry for potentially misunderstanding but are you saying that isn’t ss32? Because it is, it has the more compact chest and holes for Jetfire to combine
JonzyYT
Ironhide's battle damaged eye looks better this way imo. Something about the original made it look weird, as if he had no eyelids. Only a little bit of paint will make it look 100% accurate though.
Jazz of Staniz
That new Jazz paintjob alone is worth buying the whole set for me
geekatron prime
Whole lot of "meh" for this.
troglodyteman217
thats a rough prime. still dont like ironhides missing paint apps on the face. the eye not being painted is dumb
Timothy.R
I’m still so bummed.. this would’ve been such an awesome opportunity to give them all premium/accurate paint jobs and make it THEE ultimate non masterpiece movie set.
JS_Prime
TBF, that specific Prime is takara’s premium finish version with way more detail than the original release. Still a shame they used the SS05 tooling there instead of the improved SS32 changes
AutobotJazz1
Yea I'm gonna have to agree about the paint. I don't give e a shot about Bee since heaven knows I have a crap ton of figures by him but there's absolutely no excuse Optimus why Optimus didn't receive a top notch paint deco. This is just another annoying g ass game Hasbro keeps playing. I'm pretty sure down the line when they milk SS32 to its last teeth they'll release it in the deco we truly want. I hope that I'm wro g though and that these pics we're seeing are just tacky stock figs
