The cover is very cool, too bad I haven\'t had a chance to read it yet.

Crap. I know AEC hasn’t been covered yet… I think Animated and Prime, though, were covered as they came out. Maybe. The first book came out in 2009, so maybe Animated didn’t get covered. My books are stashed away right now awaiting my new bookshelves, so I can’t access them. I’m hoping though that we get an AEC book similar to the Beast Generation book.

Question for anyone who has bought these books. Which volumes feature Armada, Energon, Cybertronn, animated and Prime?
WinstoBot
That’s just too much teasing from Takara. I dare not dream of such magnificence.

Could you imagine the promo ads.

Yeah, I can't see then doing a clear Kaen at all. For Yukikaze I'd be fine with them using the Diaclone colors on the wrong train mode, but I'm sure train enthusiasts would feel differently.
WinstoBot
My heart just skipped a beat.

It seems difficult for various reasons. Doing a few of them seems possible but probably not the full set of recolors.
Two of the recolors use non-real world decos – Shouki in chrome and Kaen in crystal/clear plastic. There may be licencing issues with the rail companies. Also, a fully clear plastic Kaen holding up the combined weight of the three combined upper body Trainbots sounds problematic.
Yukikaze needs a complete reshell to turn the 200 series into a 0 series. Very extensive work for a very obscure recolor. The easy option is to make him the Dr Yellow 200 series but that would mean it won't be accurate to the original Diaclone recolor.
The other three are the most doable.

Well, this pretty much reinforce my speculation about using minifigure for "Giant" scale (Combiners, Omega Supreme, Sky-Lynx) transitions.
I image all the team with devastator sketch watching him with a straight face
BombSquad
Thanks, guys! I understand the hesitation and desire to be real world accurate, but I really hope they just go for it. They gotta make the tooling money back somehow, right?
lord ginrai
If they were to do it, they’d release (some of) them, for instance Doctor Yellow, separately, instead of as a set. The issues is that if they wanted to make them match real-world decos, they’d have to alter certain colors and details, which would be challenging.
The last part is hard to translate accurately, but basically it sounds like there are currently no plans and they seem hesitant to pursue the recolors.

You could probably cheat with silver for the chrome , in the style og mp-36+ 's legs, maybe a more metallic paint job to replace crystal? In the end final sales of the trains will ultimately decide if its something to pursue.
This interview wasn't as newsbreaking as last year, but it does seem Ono wants to push the envelope farther, even " what iffing" an Omega Supreme and Metalhawk. Wonder how much Skyfire sales will influence them in whether or not to give OS a try.

Ono says he's not sure if it's okay to release a chromed 0 Series Shinkansen or crystal DE-10 diesel locomotive. He'd like to do a one-off release like the Dr Yellow (0 series Shinkansen) but the train details are different* so it's not as simple as a color change.
*The Diaclone Dr Yellow recolor of "Diaclone Yukikaze" was of a 0 series Dr Yellow (yellow train with blue stripes). The Yukikaze mold however is a 200 series Shinkansen. They got away with it back then because the toys were not so detailed and the Diaclone 200 series could pass off as a 0 series.
There is a 200 series Dr Yellow (yellow body with green stripes) they could consider for MPG but it would not be accurate to the Diaclone recolor.

Now I would totally buy the alternate Diaclone colors or these toys for my Diaclone display! Oh man… I’d love it if they did their TT magic and made them all new characters with bios..

Skyfire mini fig.
Illiterate Scholar
Optimus based on a scaled down MP 44? Which Optimus is that?
jackisking
Ono has a whole MP Cliffjumper floating around and no Galvatron, wonder if he winked when he said its hard to figure out what character to do next.
In keeping with the the mention of Metalhawk, with the exception of Skyfire every MP release under Ono was something he worked on his G1 days dont forget he worked on
BombSquad
It looks like there's a question about the Diaclone alternate colors on the last page. Could you translate that?
lord ginrai
Thanks for the scans!
Few highlights:
Regarding the mini figs that come with Skyfire:
-briefly considered making them transformable but decided to stick to the mini action figure style.
-Optimus is based on a scaled down MP44 design.
-“If we have the chance to make a Giant character like Omega Supreme in the future, it’d be fun to make more of these mini figures”.
MPG:
-Currently working on Suiken. Next will be Seizan. So they’re sticking to the Diaclone number order as speculated by many.
-If they were to do the Diaclone repaints, they’d release (some of) them, for instance Dr. Yellow, separately, instead of as a set. The issues is that if they wanted to make them match real-world decos, they’d have to alter certain colors and details, which would be challenging. Saying there’s no straight forward way to do it.
MP General:
-With the train bots and so many of the car bots done, it’s always hard to decide on what character to tackle next.
-Ōno-san would love to try doing MP Pretenders, especially Metalhawk, of which he designed the original. Hard time convincing the whole team though.
