Reputed entertainment news leaker Daniel Richtman has revealed to his fans (via Patreon) that a live-action Transformers series is in the works for Paramount+ streaming service.
Not much is known about the series at the moment.
Despite the fact that Mr. Richtman is spot on with his entertainment news reveals, we would like to advise our readers to take this news with a grain of salt. Paramount’s last attempt to tackle a Hasbro property for a live-action TV series is currently in development hell.
Autobot Burnout
Given the complete absence of anything of ROTB from one of the biggest pop culture promotion events of the year; SDCC, when we already know a sizzle reel exists…and Paramount's track record with this property, I find it very hard to think they know what they're doing.
Rob
I can see a scenario where it ends up on Paramount+, but it may not indicate it being a 'punt'.
I do hope ROTB is a good qualitly movie AND a success. I do worry they shat away the good graces made by Bumblebee though. Of course, it's far too early to tell. It might be enough to just see more G1 bots in live action and tell a okay story. Afterall, after 6 movies the idea of G1 in live action is still new, amazingly enough.
And isn't that something?! It took 5 shitty Transformers movie to get to where the live action franchise Keepers, were like "what if we try sticking to the source material?". Kind of nuts.
Autobot Burnout
Assuming ROTB doesn't get punted to Paramount+ altogether.

Methinks if ROTB fails to make a profit suddenly all talk of this show is gonna mysteriously vanish, just like the aforementioned Lady Jaye Amazon Prime series.

There's a lot of material they can take from the movie comics too. For instance Soundwave and his whereabouts on earth before tf3.

It'd be great to see characters from the old toyline and other ancillary media such as comics and games reuse their old designs in Live Action such as HFTD Bludgeon, HFTD Mindwipe and Skystalker, ROTF Breakaway, ROTF Springer, DOTM Silverbolt, DOTM Warpath, DOTM Air Raid, ROTF Stratosphere. Maybe an episode depicting the origins of Jetfire and The Fallen and expanding on the fallout of the Dynasty of Primes like in the Tales of the Fallen comic. How Arcee went from one body to three. Maybe Charlie reunites with Bumblebee. Though I wonder if certain actors not returning, they might recast some of the human characters like Sam and Mikaela, like the recent Doctor Sleep film when they recasted young Danny Torrance, Wendy Torrance, Jack Torrance, Dick Hollarann and how some Television continuations have worked in the past. Though I'd hope they get back Hailee Steinfeld, John Turturro Josh Duhamel, and Tyrese Gibson

I'd love to add to my current chronological watch list of G.I. Joe and Transformers in Google Docs similar to my Star Wars and Marvel ones of the some of the episodes of the show spaced between the movies.

That would be a dream to see. So many lose ends in the Bayverse.

There was a time when I looked forward to something like this. But after years of Bayverse movies, and the fact that the only good live action movie, Bumblebee, only happened because the Paramount 'big boys' went AWOL after the TLK disaster, has me wary about something like this.
But now the Paramount big boys are back (Bumblebee didn't die off like they'd expected it to, and actually brought back some of the fan goodwill they'd destroyed), and seeing what happened with the Snake Eyes movie – they clearly still hadn't learned their lesson (they seemed to have pretty much stomped the nails into the live action GI Joe coffin with that one) – it looks like we're probably in for more of the same old same old.
In any case, if Rise of the Beasts turns out to be more Bayverse style c***, I'm done with the live action films.
And if Paramount can't even do the Transformers movies properly (except when the folks at the top do a runner, leaving someone who actually cared about Transformers and was an actual legit fan, in charge) , can they really be trusted with a TV series?

Both Transformers and Godzilla are getting live-action shows. Those are cool ideas I would love live-action shows for both. But I feel both are just pipe dreams I think the budget is not going to work well and a lot of human drama or bad CGI.
I could be surprised since some streaming services are giving shows bigger budgets than the regular network shows still I don't have high hopes.

someone better make a "live: Elita-1 reaction" webm

Do you think they'll do a '98 Godzilla and make sure the only time the Transformers appear in robot mode is at night when it's raining to hide the CG imperfections? Or maybe season 4 Airwolf where they couldn't use the actual Airwolf helicopter so they have to keep reusing the same handful of pre-rendered stock footage?
Midas
So now it'll be 100% about the human characters rather than just 99%?

If an advertisement brings in a couple minutes of CG, then they're gonna need a whole lotta product placement.

I would be excited, but Paramount just recently shit all over Halo and made a terrible show out of it…
Shizuka
I hope it's set in the Bayverse. I'd like either a series about Lockdown. Quintessa played by Gemma Chan or a buddy series staring Glenn and an Autobot.
I'd be worried about the quality of the CG too, but Transformers have always seemed to look good in TV adverts, so I imagine that sporadic use can help. AoE and TLK so had characters talk in alt mode so there's also that.
Optimus in the recent Direct Line advert.

Interesting

There’s been plenty of stories and shows where Cybertron is not just a boring metallic sphere. Cyberverse recently gave us cyberfauna and plants and it was awesome. Alien worlds are far more interesting than earth to me.

Paramount+ Transformers series….? :/ I just hope Optimus doesn\'t bang a Decepticon prisoner of war.
