Attention Legacy collectors! Via In Demand Toys Facebook we have our first look at the new Transformers Legacy Voyager Armada Starscream & Beast Wars Inferno.
We have images of the front and back of the packaging as well as stock images of robot and alt/beast mode of each character. Armada Starscream is a very faithful representation of the character in both modes. He comes with his iconic sword (it seems it doesn’t transform from the wing, but a separate weapon) and a blue Star Saber sword.
Beast Wars Inferno is a cartoon-accurate rendition of the loyal Predacon with a good range of posability, including an opening jaw. He also comes with a missile launcher. The ant mode looks pretty realistic and detailed too.We are sure your optics will be really pleased with the images of both toys!
See the new images after the break and then sound off on the 2005 Boards!

Looks like more Starscreams and Infernos have arrived in port.. Hopefully that means stores will be getting them soon.

Aside from the less-than-stellar bug leg management, I really love this new Inferno mold. Best release is defintely still Tarantulas, though.

i wouldn't say it is an epic fail BUT i do get some of chefatron's complaints
Robogeek28
Exactly.

If you see ‘Epic FAIL’ in the title you know it’s going to be dumb. There’s a lot of valid criticism for this figure, but hyperbole like that is just juvenile.
BlackHawkOmega
i have my problems with the figure which i've stated ad nauseum but i wouldn't call it a 'epic fail'

All this guy does anymore is bitch.

Definitely. The “unified scale” stuff has always been a selling point/marketing fluff to please fans that get uptight about that stuff online. They said the same thing with Prime Wars. I maintain that Hasbro chooses a figure’s size class and size within that class based on what feels right, not some holy scale chart they’re constantly referencing.
As long as the scale is sort of there based on most of a characters’ appearances, I’m not gonna lose sleep over a figure being a head shorter or taller than it has to. I am willing to believe the designers do not give a crap about scale the way some people harp on about it, moreso what they can get out of a parts count and plastic mass.
It’s also good to have options, the T30 Rattrap, Waspinator and Rhinox seemed to sell poorly, but now that we have gotten them again with Kingdom, fans can make a choice based on what size they prefer and the stylistic things that are important to them.

I think it’s interesting to see how characters from different lines are rejiggered to fit into this “unified” line. Even though scale is not perfectly adhered, you still generally get stuff in “sorta scale”. Seekers and faction leaders remain voyager sized. Carbots are deluxes.
Armada Starscream looks good next to Siege and ER ‘Screams. Hot Shot will scale well with G1 carbots. Jihaxus looks good next to other faction leaders. Dragon Megs looks good next to Dino Megs.
I’m personally pleased. I really like seeing characters from drastically different lines fit together.

Seriously. The whole "in scale going forward" crap became nothing more than a guideline Hasbro broke regularly. And each year the figures do lose out via hollowness. Nothing to do with wrist cavities for the transforming hands, everything to do with things like tiny-deluxe Arcee with hollow inner legs versus her prior renditions, etc. (Keeping my modded T30 in that particular case, but for multiple reasons)
Edit: ironically enough, I like Kickback at his height. But that's how tall I always wanted the insecticons to be.
RodimusRex
That pivot hasn't been maintained except with some American G1 characters.
Galaxy Shuttle is not in scale. Neither is Minerva. Neither is Elita-1.
Insecticons? Not in scale.

Predacon Rhinox is all I want. I dream about him every night.
Tetratron
My fingers still have nightmares over transforming his back half.
Airrazor with the black coloring of the feathers from show for me.

Hasbro is a multi billion dollar company that makes most of their money in other segments, such as Magic the Gathering. It's not like Transformers itself is raking in those billions of dollars. Transformers gets the budget it gets because of its present level of success.
AlphaCentauri
There’s still seasons 2 and 3 to be included along with trans metal versions of existing cast members aside from TM2 Megs.
And then the anime counterparts. And then there’s Beast Machines. Hasbro ain’t done with them yet.

Regarding Polar Claw: I personally would rather wait for a new mold or better retool option then try to shoehorn the character out of Rhinox or someone else.
I think Hasbro has drastically improved the way they choose what to repaint, retool or simply hold off on. Don’t encourage them to get lazy/greedy again with crappy choices.
I’m even optimistic/hopeful Hasbro will continue to sprinkle 1-2 BW updates going forward. Kinda like we just got Tarantulas, Inferno and Dragon Megs this year.
This is fun! Some Beast Wars, sone Armada, some Prime, sone JG1. Keep up the potpourri the Hasbro. A little bit of everything
