Via Facebook user 草泥馬遊玩趣 Nimama’s Transformers we have our first in-package images of the new Transformers R.E.D. G1 Thundercracker and Transformers Prime Optimus Prime & Megatron.
These new non-transforming action figure were just found at a Toys”R”Us store in Taiwan. The images reveal an important packaging change in the R.E.D. line since the three figures are now packaged in closed windowless boxes featuring the character’s art in the front and images of the accessories in one side of the box. The back of the boxes show images of the figures which show the usual cartoon-accurate design of the R.E.D. line.
See all the images after the jump plus one extra out-of-the-package Transformers Prime Megatron pic. Let us know your impressions about these new R.E.D. figures on the 2005 Boards!

I like the Megatron figure. But Prime l do not know.

Loved this series and the figures look great.

I'll agree there. Prime has very memorable portrayals of the characters and great designs for them.
Animation was great as well.
Though it's a bit weird they advertised the show as dark and when a character dies, they stay dead. But only characters that die are ones we barely even know. And even then , when more characters die it's because the actors are expensive.
Shizuka
The storytelling got repetitive towards the end, but it had good characterization and was entertaining. It's better than most Transformers series. At least it did something new and interesting with classic characters which is lacking today.

I haven't really liked any of the RED so far, but Megatron looks really good. Since his model doesn't have much kibble, it makes sense to do him in a non-transforming line. I wish he came with the Dark Star Saber though.
VVa
Good enough to get overhyped, but it actually not being that great.
Raiyuki
Not gonna get em most likely but the sculpting on these looks great. I am questioning Optimus's swords though. This is the same gripe I've had with movie Optimus toys for years but it feels lazy for them to just have them on the sides instead of covering the hand like they're supposed to. And it's worse knowing that Prime Optimus actually DID have the first edition to AND the arms micron (well, Nemesis Prime's micron but still) correctly cover the hand (and with matching detail between both of those). If they could do it with the gun why not the sword? Odd choice there.

A lot of complaints about the paint job, but I\'ve bought a good amount of transformers and they always have crappy paint compared to their on screen appearances, this is literally nothing new. I enjoy giving my transformers new paint jobs anyways, so this makes me wanna but the megatron since I love him in that show, and I\'ll paint him up, no problem for me.
Shizuka
We really need a new series that has the same quality of Prime.
Jakedc1997
The sculpt isn\'t bad, but those colors and plastic makes them look like happy meal toys
BlaminisPrime
They literally dunk the figures in bleach and stuff them in a tissue lmao

These really make me appreciate how good the First Edition figures were back in 2012 (an entire decade ago!!). The FE figures' bot modes look pretty much as good as this (with better paint detail and sharper sculpts in some areas; FE Megatron's head sculpt is a work of art), while still being able to transform.

Tried fixing up the colors a bit on these two because of course this line can't be bothered to finish the damn things properly
Really not sure how they messed up Optimus' legs. He has too much silver on his inner calves and the wrong part of his shins got the silver paint. I'm willing to let the hands and feet slide whether it's due to lack of budget for black paint or different source material (promo renders gave Optimus silver hands and feet while in the show they were black)
Megatron's unpainted cannon is frankly inexcusable. He's missing a few other purple paint apps but otherwise is pretty much perfect.

Megatron looks the worst of these. It looks dull and washed out. Maybe different in hand. For the most part, RED figures are shelf warmers. In my area, most of the Transformer toys are starting to shelf warm. The Cyberverse toys are good sellers, but I think mostly because they are cheaper.
Omegaclaw2
Honestly, these don\'t look too bad. I think they need more articulation, but they look great!

The Man likes big…..
Transformers.
Legion9186
These are missing a lot of paint to look decent, the swords and guns in plain gray plastic look just bad in my opinion
SpaceWarp
In my opinion they should made R.E.D all Prime, and other things, sinced Chug got ya' when it comes fto G1 and Beast Wars, while Prime fans is left with "what if it's G1" even tho i kinda like the redesigns : >
VVa
Right because there aren't TF series other than G1 with large followings.
Ambrojh
Surprised that Skywrap and the other seekers have not been issued yet. It's the mold Hasbro easily can release at least nine repaints. Also, RED needs to release more G1 characters, Beast Wars look good and probably sell well, but everything else in my opinion are probably peg warmers.
