Third party company Magic Square Toys have shared, via their Weibo account, images of the color prototype of their upcoming Legends Scale Ironhide.
The Legends scale market is sure very competitive, and Magic Square is taking another classic G1 character into a pretty small scale: G1 Ironhide. The figure has a great cartoon-accurate design and proportions, showing an impressive range of poseability for its size and packed with several G1 cartoon accessories. We are sure your optics will be really pleased with the promotional images.

Yeah got the EX today too and love the finish. Had the A before which I'll sell on as I'm content with just the EX. Tolerances are very tight in places and there was minor paint chipping near the rear of the van, but agree with you zfarsh he really does look the biz. NA's ones are in the sale pile too.

Got the EX, and REALLY love the mold. Transformation back and forth was interesting, and so are all the accessories.
Something about this particular mold, just fun. In fact, so much so I may consider buying another of this same mold, even non-painted. Great job MS on this one.
Oh, and the paint is really beautiful, just silver face isnt my super cup of tea, but i still love this figure. Real masterpiece looking.
Mine does NOT have this, and is in pristine condition at this specific point. Not sure what can be done personally in your case, but hopefully your supplier can help a bit…
Mine is missing red paint at the back of the truck on one end that transforms to the bottom of the feet in bot mode. I may apply some clear coat or red clear paint, if i find time for it.
I dont have Original, just the EX. Looks great to my eyes in none directly led illuminated lighting, but not sure i would call this toon accurate… i feel probably the original version would be Toon accurate, or if they had done the EX version with light grey paint (or gray plastic) instead of silver. That said, the red paint and the coated window and even the dark gray is really beautiful…

i have the A version ans tempted by the ex or original which is £10 more but cant decide which one be best for a toon accurate version

Just got my EX Ken.
the finish has some flaws in it, most notably on the pelvis. Anyone experienced this on the silver on MS figures, and know if there’s anything I can do to fix it?

I just got this in and holy hell the paintjob on this really elevates this figure. It does not look like nylon being used.

MSEX Ironhide reflects the light off it about the same way the NA version does.
Really, really nice work from MS.
Now bring on Ratchet!

I've got standard Ratchet and A Ironhide, like em well enough and they look the part, but I don't find them super fun to transform. Hoping NA's will tick that box and I'll move the MS' on; I've got the MP shelves for best looks anyway so really want something fun to mess with all the time- kinda what I do with NA Octavian right now.
Just had NA's Brawn and Outback arrive today and while they look hella dated, they pose well and are fun to transform so I'm happy with them. But that might be a spot where I pick up MS as well, assuming they don't make them super panelly.
RameezTheElite
the NA one is sweet for what it is. the MS is overall the superior figure in every aspect except the cleanliness of the alt mode. That chibi Newage alt mode looks killer next to Bumblebee, but it's apples and oranges. All depends on what you're looking for!
Stardiver
Yeah this annoyed me enough that I bought NA's instead
RameezTheElite
Definitely looks better than the A version! If they had this version released when I decided to buy mine then I definitely would have kept it
deaculpa
tempting but not tempting enough for a double dip. you know what you did, MS.
Memo224
I hope this helps!

Magic Square MS-B44EX Ken is gully painted and beautifully done!

Pretty annoyed to have bought the A towards the end of 2023, for a better version to be announced now. Hopefully I can recoup what I paid for the A, or close to it at least…

I strongly disliked the A version, right out of the box I was pretty unimpressed. I then got a great deal on the original and it looks a lot better compared to the A. The shoulders on the A are painted black…yet the rest of the greys are unpainted light grey e.g. the hands. The shiny silver painted face also just doesn't do it for me. It takes away from the look of the character, it's almost too metallic in that regard.
I'm thinking this version corrects those mistakes and gripes I had with the A, but a review and in hand pics will be the best way to figure out for sure.

So I just bought a half painted version?

I like the V1 transformation, but conversions are very subjective. Because I favor a certain style of transformation (minimal panels and faux parts) and prioritize alt mode over robot mode, MST generally falls to the bottom of my 3PL list. Sometimes these “A” repaints tempt me in, but not this time.

I find it funny that the Newage v1 does have the best alt mode. And the bot reminds me of the MP. I like it too. I usually tend to get any Ironhide that comes out…still don't have a "perfect" legend scale version, though. I will say that the MS Ironhide bot mode articulation is really nice and outshines every other Ironhide I have in that particular category. For that reason I am happy I have it. I truly dislike the transformation, though.
Zentropy
Honestly, I think happy with NA V1. The alt mode is absolutely perfect and the robot mode suits me fine. The V2 chest is wonky and a little too faux for my liking, and the van pales in comparison to V1.
I just sometimes like to sample different molds for the same character model, and MST is at least affordable. The cardboard-mockup van mode and panel-tastic transformation eliminate it as a potential option for me, though. I think I would have serious buyer’s remorse.
fschuler
Take a look at Newage v2. I know the alt mode is a silly looking little shitbox, but it's fun, and the bot is pretty solid.
