Thanks to The Geeky Wolf on YouTube we have our first in-hand images of the recently revealed Transformers Studio Series SS-87 Dark of the Moon Bumblebee.
As it was mentioned by Hasbro designer Sam Smith, this mold features several new parts to match the new Camaro alt mode used in the movie, plus extra modifications in the robot chest. We have now images of this new Studio Series Bumblebee mold next to the previous Studio Series Bumblebee movie figures for you to spot all the changes.
You can already pre-order Studio Series DOTM Bumblebee as well as the rest of the new Studio Series reveals via our sponsors links below. Let us know your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

Since you’re not the only one who’s asked about it and it’s a good mod to do: JAKEEJUNG on Instagram: "Here is how I did this. You just do simple ‘L’ shape cutting at the fender part of Bumblebee. This goes back to the original position, so this doesn’t ruin transformation at all. Please be careful not to cut your hand or break your toy. Do with proper tools. Thanks. Have a nice day #bumblebee #transformers #studioseries #transformersstudioseries #studioseriesbumblebee #deluxebumblebee #custombumblebee #bumblebeecustom #autobots"

Please elaborate ….I'd LOVE to do it to my DOTM Bee I just got.

It's a mod I found on instagram. I've done it to every ss bee since ss49. It requires an L-shaped cut by the hinge.

How did you get the wheel chunks in bot mode to flare open/back more? …it seems like they are in your photo.
Do tell.

The added yellow to the middle chest really makes a huge difference.

I hope this is the last time we get this head sculpt from Bumblebee. At least the eyes need some serious remolding.

Since you're looking for the gray plastic to not be too light I'd say that rules out the ROTF version of the SS Modern Camaro mold.
The 07 version and upcoming DOTM version are similar color wise. The 07 has the masked head while the DOTM is unmasked, although the 07 probably has a bit better paint job overall. Between those two it's largely up to personal preference!
octobotimus
sounds like most of that is up to personal preference. doubt you'd get any set answer.

The only modern Camaro Bee I own is the concept one from 2007 which of course towers over the modern figures. Can anyone give a quick breakdown of the pros and cons of all Studio Series versions (including exclusives if there are any) so I can decide which to get? Things I'm primarily looking for: gray plastic should not be too light, yellow plastic/paint should not be too light (and plastic should match paint), wheels should be painted, head should be reasonably well sculpted and with painted details.

Ironhide is probably the biggest offender due to his rarity, but considering how many WFC Trilogy figures have been repacked in the following line over the past few years, I'm shocked it hasn't happened more often for Studio Series given how long the line has gone on and how many "major" characters have been done.
The last time an original design Optimus Prime has been available was summer 2019 with Leader DOTM Optimus Prime, which was 3 years ago now! It's slightly mitigated by the upcoming PF (although it's the outdated mold), but the you'd think that's a character/design they'd want to have regularly available as the line goes on.
Reissuing major characters like Prime, Ironhide, and Starscream could help support the more obscure characters like Hatchet or Onslaught while also helping people who may be interested in jumping into the line now complete their casts.

That sure is movie Bumblebee.

I know I would lol. Much better than drop $200+ on the aftermarket lol.

100% I even own the original release and would still buy a re-release that has no changes both cause I painted mine a little bit and would like an un-painted/modified copy and because he's my favorite Bayverse character.
At some point, I want to ask Samlock either why he hasn't and others haven't been rereleased that are hard to find or if it's possible. But they really should do at the least a DOTM version cause I'm pretty sure he and Que are the only Autobots left to be done from DOTM.

At this point, I'd pay a premium for a PF version…

Agreed, and even that seem to be hard for Hasbro. There are so many things Hasbro can do with this character and mold.
They can re-release SS14 with Dark Blue (2007 Allspark off-road Ironhide), ROTF NEST Alliance gray version, and even G1 Red would work.

Hand to God: until more accurate toys started coming out and I watched reviews of them, I had zero idea that Optimus, Ironhide, or Bumblebee changed at all in the first 3 movies.
octobotimus
They legit could re-release him with 0 changes under the rotf name too and people would buy it up.
