Via Chinese platform Bilibili we have our first images of the color prototype of the new Transformers Prime Airachnid made by third party company APC Toys.
This figure is a new mold which features a very cartoon-accurate robot mode with a solid alt mode. A very great improvement over the original Deluxe Airachnid figure for sure. To top it all, the figure seems to be able to transform into Airachnid’s spider mode as seen in the Transformers Prime cartoon. We are sure Transformers Prime fans should be really pleased with the images we are sharing today.
There’s still no concrete information about price or release day, but stay tuned with TFW2005 for more updates. See all the images after the jump and then join to the ongoing discussion on the 2005 Boards!

There is a good amount of balancing needing to be done with her. Also, use the spider legs to help with that. If you look in my picture you can see that she is standing more on them than anything else. The problem I had with her spider legs was that they didn't bend as much as I would have liked and the whole thing would slide out of the peg in the back a little too easily.

I need to spend a bit more time with it probably.

I didn't find getting her on the legs that bad, personally?

I know it would be asking a lot, but some swivels would've gone a long way in helping articulation of the legs.

It took some work for me.

I just got mine yesterday. Only briefly played around with it, and didn't even get a chance to transform. She's nice, but I couldn't get her to stand with the spider legs. And God damn, are her edges sharp!

I've had this figure for a few months but never bothered posting here about it. My personal experience and views are, it's a good quality figure, easy to transform for the most part and well designed. Unfortunately it's one of my purchase regrets. Nothing against the figure it self, just bought it when I wasn't sure what direction I wanted to go with my collection. I have since determined that I prefer bayverse characters and figures and I like MP and MPM level. I like how they could pass as models of real vehicles and this one doesn't do that in any way. So, she is packed away in her box with 3 other regret figures and current collection rejects until my son gets old enough for them.
That said, it's not just a Prime thing, I actually have APC's Arcee and Soundwave and they both are on display because they look good in both modes to me. Airachnid would have stayed up if she was based on a real helicopter and at least was somewhat passing on it (yes I am aware that Arcee doesn't appear to be based on a specific real motorcycle, but the figure passes as one to me).
Anyway, that's my $0.02

Sorry to necro. I finally decided I couldn't live without this bad b***h. She is not on ShowZ or SirToys or any reliable retailers, but she's all over eBay for about 50$. Has anyone bought one successfully from an eBay seller? Does she have a KO I don't know about?

To be completely honest, this might be a one-off third party purchase. We do not have any other Airachnid figure worth buying so far, the hasbro release isn't that great
Thanks mate, appreciate the advice. I do not collect masterpiece at the moment, all of my figures are the mainline/movie-line/studio series so far, this figure doesn't seem too scale to bad with those and does look to fit in with the mainline stuff.
I will keep that in mind, thanks

I actually forgot this thing existed. I was tempted on her, but also not sure if I liked Prime enough to bother.

I'd agree with what most people are saying – it's a good figure and the only decent to-scale Airachnid so by all means get it if you like it, but as an Intro to Third Party it'll probably be a bit lackluster. This one's more of a 'making a good toy that fits in with the rest of the toys' kind of thing than a fancy-pants 'oh wow Third Party' kind of thing.
If you want to try a more typical 3P offering then the best thing to do is to think about what you like and try to find something that fits that.
My first 3rd Party toy was the Perfect Effect Legends-scale Reflector set and they were pretty cool, though they show their age a bit now.

It's a bit of a mixed point.. I've seen (and have) some 3rd party stuff that isn't has high in quality that one might think and why my post is to offer that perspective, which is it's not because it's 3rd party that it's going to be that different that what we get with Hasbro at times. I see too many post about expensive and fancy figures that end up high on quality issues. And that's including some that are supposed to be higher tier.
For the price, this figure is absolutely amazing as it doesn't really have anything bad… As stated, the spider legs are scary to handle but have been sturdy regardless. So as an intro it does work, as long as you aren't overthinking that 3rd party means a gift from gods. They are just alternatives to Hasbro.
To me, it turns into the value for money spent and I've been picky with what I've purchased and most offer value for the general quality and such, but while different from Hasbro in terms of quality, some do end up feeling that I did overpay as they are still plastic toys but I made the conscious choice because I did want it.
It's why I did a thread about budget 3rd/4th parties.
Best budget 3rd / 4th party figures

I think the discrepancy comes from the question of would this be a good intro to third party figures. It's totally acceptable for what it's trying to be, but it's mid-tier in terms of how good third party figures can go, even when excluding the Masterpiece style ones and just looking at things with a comparable price point.
imfallenangel
Compare it to an Hasbro Deluxe/Voyager.
Not sure why the negative toward her whatsoever as I consider her a great figure. The transformation is average in complexity as any similar figure.
You have to consider that it's meant to be a "Prime" compatible figure and NOT meant as a masterpiece type.
The spider legs are thin due to their nature but I don't recall a single mention of breakage.
I absolutely love mine, even got an extra in case.
I would recommend it for certain, but again it is meant as a Prime figure and is not a fancy masterpiece type one.
So it depends what you are looking for when it comes to a 3rd party.
Expect that many aren't anything that much different that Hasbro stuff, just different, while others will show a higher quality, some are very overpriced. The best thing is for you to look at the pictures, video reviews and take what's said with a grain a salt. I've ended up loving some figures that people whined about, and didn't like some that some raved about.
And more importantly, go within your budget and go for what really appeals to you. Lots of decent figures out there, it really depends on your goal for the figure.

I love 3p toys but I sold my copy. She's fiddly and thin and not terribly fun, IMO. So, no.
