Here we go folks! Coming to us from PrimeVsPrime on Youtube we have our first batch of mainline Transformers Legacy in-hand photos, starting off with Deluxe Skids!
Skids is displayed here in his robot and vehicle modes, as well as with his accessories which can combine into a single weapon and can also be attached in alt mode. In addition he’s compared with some other Generations figures as well as his Masterpiece version.
You can check out the images as well as the review after the break, and let us know what you think on the boards!
Rocka5438
has anyone had the issue with skids where his roof doesnt fully sit flush with his legs in car mode?
Satomiblood
He does look good. Maybe I’ll pick this one up so that I can keep the MP in Honda City mode.

Gears is the Mech Fans Toys Mechanic Studio MS-16 Rocke:

That Powerglide is a Takara Adventures Powerglide, but I did swap out his chest for the Hasbro Combiner Wars Powerglide (the Takara one had an indentation in his chest for a sticker I didn't like).

Which versions of Gears and Powerglide are those?
OptionZero
Generations skids is too narrow
Legacy is too wide, although the shoulder joint gives some adjustment range
Man, what were they thinking with these
a smaller or longer torso would have mase legacy do much better
and generations…so much work to do so little. Dude couldnt stand or move his arms

Love the new Skids!

Man, am I ever glad I don't give two shits about how things are "supposed" to be and I can just appreciate a fun toy.
ScorponokIsHere
dang you are exhausting
WishfulThinking
I thought you were talking about the line art. Even then, it only shows one single gun on top. One gun can go up there. His other guns are side guns.
ScorponokIsHere
are you serious
That's Skids from "Quest for Survival," about to utter one of his two lines from the cartoon: "Robotic Insecticide?"
minute 3:14, hasbro's official upload to youtube
unless this also isn't a cartoon episode, somehow

You win. Close the thread. We’re done here.

Man, I wish that was an option on the newer toys. I had Dirge as a kid and he looked stupid if you put the nosecone up so I never did. I got used to it. I don’t feel G2 Ramjet should either so he could match the commercial he was in.
WishfulThinking
That's not a screen cap.
But it wasn't used as such in the cartoon.
That's a mistransformation of the toy. Everything else gets it right.
The conehead transformation was only done to distinguish the new Seekers from the old ones. For Skids, every other media gets it right. Even IDW gets it right with their redesign.
But canonically, in every other instance besides the comics (because the cartoon doesn't show it), the guns (except for the rifle) are on the side. So Legacy is only correct to Marvel and practically nothing else. Not to mention you can't even place the side weapons on top of the arm without breaking the weapons on the original toy.
Conversely, the coneheads have been rather consistent in all their media, sans toy packaging art. The ratio of conehead to non-conehead in media is probably about 75/25. And putting up the cone on the toy doesn't risk severe mistransformation nor breaking it.

I do wish the Generations/MP coneheads could fold back, if only as an option, to homage the G1 toy feature. I don't care that it's a faux cone.
Vanya
Looks like an exception to the rule to me.

Dirge's air guitar will always be canon.
ProfessionalIcee
This must be canon as well.

I literally just posted a cartoon screencap with his weapons on.
Marvel and the cartoon used the same character model linework.
The cartoon/comic model was based on photos of a toy with the arms transformed with the arms hanging down at the sides, which is why the wheels are at a different angle versus the torso, and why the shoulders start at, like, the abs. Thus Skids properly has weapons on the top of his forearms for the same reason the Coneheads have cones on their heads instead of all looking like Starscream.
And since that's how they've always been treated in media, that's just how the character looks now. And it's why the Masterpiece toy has places for the guns to attach to the tops of the forearms, as well as that being the singular placement on the Legacy toy.
