Fans Toys is being pretty active with updates recently. Following the new images of their new FT-48 Jive (Masterpiece Scaled G1 Jazz), now they are treating fans with images of the color prototype of their FT-49 Phantasm (Masterpiece Scaled G1 Mirage).
Once again, Fans Toys is bringing a very cartoon-accurate design for the Masterpiece scale. Phantasm/Mirage will include 2 interchangeable faces (cartoon and toy inspired) and a detailed and realistic alt mode. We also have comparison shots next to other Fans Toys Autobot cars for you to see how the scale works between them.
Check all the images after the break and then share your impressions about this figure on the 2005 Boards!

Nothing announced yet. But there's a Con in a couple of weeks, so maybe something will be revealed then.
tabtiurf
Yeah he does that. It's annoying.
Sammael
I may have asked already, but will there be an X version at some point?
Pinkmyfloyd
I think mine does too but can’t confirm until Monday
Tacohouse
mine has the same issue. I have not been able to fix it.

Hey Mirage fans. Just transformed this guy for the first time. Fun!! Much better transformation than Transform Element. So I have a gap that I can’t get closed. The instructions show the front section snapping in but mine doesn’t snap/tab in. Anybody else have this gap?

yeah, tell me about it, i feel Variator at 110 USD was expensive too. That said, after Variator, Phantasm and Tube are the only other FT figures i would have really wanted in 2023, but my focus was legends, so only got Variator.

Well, that’s a better “glass half full” way of looking at things. I do think Phantasm looks a bit small, but maybe it’s the character. This is my first G1 Mirage ever.

Or make yourself feel better by thinking Powerglide is carbot-sized and was a bargain (that’s how I look at it anyway).
Grimlock212
I had moved mine to display next to Powerglide/Warthog, and both are virtually identically the same height. The fingers on Phantasm are not individually articulated similar to a minibot (Jive too). So it’s just interesting to me that Phantasm carries a lot of the characteristics of a FT minibot, yet costs significantly more than one. It’s not a big deal. I’m happy with my purchase, but I find it curious that it’s significantly more expensive than Warthog. I feel like FT just thinks they can charge more because it’s a car bot and not a minibot…and I guess they’re right.
Redferno97
It’s obvious isn’t it? He’s a carbot sized minibot of a carbot character that has never been a minibot… right?

BTW, I read on Facebook that a Phantasm X was coming in 2024. Can anyone confirm this?
Grimlock212
I was moving some stuff around in my display and I realized Mirage is basically a FT minibot, so it sucks he costs so much. He even has minibot hands!

Just got this guy in! In case anyone is still looking for him I got him at Oh My Primus. Only $124 USD but $150 USD shipped to the US. Not bad considering he is $175-$200 anywhere that still has him in stock. I still have the bottom half of my original 1984 G1. I think most of the originals broke in half at the waist swivel.
Anyway, I passed on him when he was first available because I have TE Mirage who looks good but feels just ok. Not bad but not as good as this. Phantasm is nicer in person than than the photos convey. Especially the face which is more cartoon accurate in person too. TE Mirage has better feet; Phantasm has duck feet. The hollow forearms don’t bother me. You mostly can’t see them because they are hidden by the angle of the arms or by the hands. If you are thinking about getting him but on the fence because you have TE Mirage I say “Do it!” If you are a Mirage fan or a FanToys fan you won’t regret it.

Heh, it’s always funny when there is a scene in a cartoon series where first something breaks, for example, and then we move on to the next scene and surprise, surprise, the thing that was broken before is suddenly back intact.
I think, though, that this scene in question, where Ironhide shoots a rocket at Skywarp’s vertical stabilizer and then it repairs itself during teleportation, is the only error in the entire The Transformers cartoon series. Or have you heard or seen any other errors in The Transformers cartoon series?, I haven't. Not even the character size difference errors that you would think there would be.
The Transformers cartoon series is a strange exception in the sense that it is so consistent.

These were such great figures!

This is a Hotrod thread now.

Yep, TFCon MMC Sphinx (exclusive Chicago and Toronto? versions) has the right idea.

Yeah, MP11 has seen some better days I haven't ever laid hands on any MP52 or KO of it. I wonder why TT hasn't done a transparent MP52 since they did do a ghost MP03/11. I didn't like the clear KO with the odd choice to leave some markings *shrug*
I don't think FT would be as outside the box, but MMC sphinx cloak/decloak exclusive idea would translate well to Skywarp
