We have new images of the color prototype of Fans Toys FT-48 Jive (Masterpiece Scaled G1 Jazz) for your viewing pleasure.
Fans Toys is bringing an impressive new mold of G1 Jazz which really catches the original animation design of the Autobot warrior. The images show the high level of poseability in robot mode which even features ab-crunch articulation. Alt mode is also very faithful to the animation design and it will include Jazz’s rear speakers.
See all the mirrored images after the jump and then let us know your impressions on Fans Toys rendition of Jazz on the 2005 Boards!

I actually added a drop of gel super glue on each side to mine and it worked perfectly.

This is the most logical thing to do and something Fanstoys should have done to begin with. I've checked and small size taps like M1.6 or M2 are easy and cheap to get and the best sizes to use with the size of the die cast part. I've also checked and found a number of shoulder bolts/screws (pic is for reference) but I haven't pulled mine apart yet to get the exact dimensions, but this solution is very feasible and practical

I do not recommend this because of where you'd have to solder would be a high to definite risk of melting/damaging plastic parts. The fact that the plastic rail has to be in place first before pressing a pin or fastener makes the area obstructed, unless you'd be willing to flex the track and pop the plastic rail on after the fact.
Criggity
I haven't had any breakages on mine, but if they're metal could a little soldering and grinding solve the problem?
Opticaloptics
I haven't had mine do this yet. But is it possible to tap threads into the die cast and install a matching screw ourselves?

Has anyone successfully repaired this issue with AB glue?
My copy just failed as well. I’ve had it since release and I’ve transformed it several times, but it finally gave out.
So I’m curious if anyone has truly succeeded.
TCJJ
Definitely didn't work for me.
Just seems like a bad idea, if you ask me. Steve is right, it'll probably hold it if you can pull it off, but it also depends on how it sticks to the diecast metal and if there is enough space to get a strong enough bond there.
Maybe FansToys should just redesign it for the reissue then send out replacement parts. Wouldn't be the first time a company has had to do that, but I bet they won't do it.

When glueing in small areas I generally apply the glue to a piece of spare cardboard and use a toothpick to apply the glue to where it needs to go.
MV Steve
They are recommending a two part epoxy?
I mean most are kind of thick for use in such an intricate area, but are very strong and would likely hold if you can apply it clean. Maybe if you can take it apart and glue the pin in and fully let cure, then pop the plastic tracks over the heads if they flex enough to allow it.

Ok so Fanstoys replied to me and said to use AB glue instead; you guys all seem pretty well versed on this issue so would that actually work or are they just trying to stall?
MV Steve
Yeah, die cast kinda sucks like that. I knew when fixing mine that if there was enough material for it to bite and hold solid, it would be a one shot thing. Hopefully they change the design to screws and can send you some with the replacement panel.
Primal Suit
I did, but I guess over pushing the pin can warp the diecast strut because it was at a point where the pin just wouldn't stay in no matter how much I pushed. And the glue just wasn't stable enough to keep the pin in the hole during Transformation. The bendy wire, while extremely loose so far, actually held up and I managed to get him into car mode.
MV Steve
Did you try pressing the pin back in all the way? That pin should press through the entirety of the die cast part. When mine came apart I noticed it wasn't pressed all the way and managed to open him up enough to get pliers over the pin without messing up plastic, then squeezed til they stopped. The hole in the die cast is a through hole so it should press to the point that the jaws of the pliers are touching both ends of the pin. I noticed the clearance of the sliding track was better after and not sloppy anymore. The design is poor and I'm sure this can't be applied to every case of this figure coming apart, but this worked in my case.
Primal Suit
You were right, the glue just didn't hold when I tried to move it around… However, I'm trying a new solution; I cut open a spare mask I had lying around and used the bendy wire as a connector between the two pieces. Let's see if that can do anything.
My theory is that the reissue will probably just end up using screws instead of pins.
TCJJ
I think you'll find glue won't work. You should just tell them you've already tried.
Typical FansToys, trying to brush their terrible designs onto customers to fix…
Really quite disappointing for such a fan-favourite character…
Primal Suit
Customer sevice told me to just try gluing the pins in. I'm going to leave it for 24 hours and see what happens. They actually offered to provide a replacement part for the chipped car roof when the reissue comes out, so that was nice of them. Thanks for the help
TCJJ
Once or twice. I THINK it might have been twice, meaning this was the third time I went to transform it, but it might have only been the second time.
It's definitely a ticking time bomb. One thing I regret is trying to do the upper half first. Always do the lower half first, else the top is just flailing around on those tiny pins until you're ready to tab everything together.
They're pins, not screws, and yes, several of us have had it happen.
It's a bad design. There's nothing that can be done short of replacing it and never transforming it again. Once they've worked themselves out, they won't stay in again. I managed to get them back in several times but they just popped straight back out.
You could use some glue or threadlocker (e.g. Loctite) or even floor polish, but ultimately, it's had it.
The paint could be fixed with a matching blue but good luck painting that area cleanly to blend in. Maybe you're good at painting – some people around here are -, but if you have to ask about fixing a paint chip, I doubt you'll have much luck making it look nice.
Here's hoping FansToys will fix it. I haven't emailed them myself yet. I probably should.
Primal Suit
Hey yall, I'm not really too familiar with this thread but has THIS happened to anyone yet?View attachment 30089572

The screw on both sides fell out; one side I half fixed but I doubt it'll hold, and it led to that paint chip. The other side isn't working at all. I've already contacted Fanstoys but in case they can't help, is there anything I can do both about the paint chip and mainly the screws?

Just crossing my fingers that FT have removed the 'self-destructing' aspects of this figure for the re-releases.
BrutiKing
Man, I'm glad FT Priced me out of this one… Seeing these issues is pretty worrying. I'm still in for the combiners, so I hope the 400 usd for those won't have issues like this.
Wh33ls
As I read that, I was envisioning your face just like that as your profile pic. Lol.
On a more serious note, how many times did you transform it before the failure, and breakage occurred. I ask this because I was considering transformering it into vehicle mode and leaving it in that mode, and if it's like a ticking time bomb, I would like a rough estimate before it explodes.
