Virtual Running Club website have announced a new Transformers VRC: Officially Licensed Virtual Run featuring several official goods and merchandising for all participants.
ROLL OUT OR RISE UP CHALLENGE – AUTOBOTS VS. DECEPTICONS • DECLARE YOUR ALLEGIANCE
Within each of us is greatness waiting to rise, waiting to break through the surface. We all have the power to become something more than others expect.
It’s your choice to be brave, to be strong, to be adventurous or daring. It’s your choice to be more tomorrow than what you are today.
Earth is under siege and you are needed! With the Roll Out or Rise Up Challenge, you have a choice to make: Are you part of the conquerors or among the ranks of those fighting back? In the Roll Out or Rise Up Challenge, choose your allegiance as an Autobot or Decepticon and take on the mission to complete this 300-mile journey in 2022.
Just like the Transformers, you are More Than Meets The Eye.
This mission will be at your HQ and welcomes beings of all abilities. You can run, walk, roll, swim, or hike to complete this challenge. As you fight to complete this mission, you will earn 6 collectible pins all while working towards a stunning 4″ medal. Other swag options can also be added to your registration.
If you are interested in register your miles and be part of this event, you can register on this link. Don’t forget to chose Autobot or Decepticon side! Click on the bar to see the images of the T-shirts, pins, medals and more. Let us know your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

600?! NICE!! Congrats.
Rookbartley
My gear came today but I haven’t opened it. Counting my cycling miles since first of the year and right now I’m just shy of 600. Keep up the good work everyone!

I forgot to sign up!

I'm at 78 miles right now since the start of the year. How is everyone else doing?

Got my shirt today!

If you do this, you will need to have the "Accountability Package" to enter your mileage. I did the lower cost option, which is why I couldn't. This is something that'll keep me good to go. Besides, I plan to do a couple races this year, so I can get down with this.
. . . won't do it again especially at that price though.

Have you never done an event like this? $85 is a steal for all that swag.

As a runner this leaves a lot to be desired for me.
For $85, I don\'t see the value. I\'ve gotten more swag from other events that were in-person and provided experiences like live music and photo ops, AND were benefitting a charity. Who does this benefit? Is VRC just charging for their app and the creation of the swag?
Manually entering my info is really weak. I already use runkeeper for GPS tracking, other people use strava and nike, etc. Can\'t it just import that? At least that way there\'s a nice digital record that people can\'t fake? Is that app really worth the extra cost?
Cardion
Turns out it actually does have an app; search for Virtual Running Club VRC on Google Play store. It is super-easy to use. I like it a lot better than reporting mileage through the website. I'm already at 6 miles. Great start to the year.View attachment 29351100

Signed up. I'm trying to report mileage and seems like the site doesn't have all the info sorted out. I'll try again in a couple of days.

So I have to pay 85 dollars to get some pins and a lanyard and walk 300 miles? I'd do this if I could afford it, but I don't even have 30 dollars, and I can't wear the merch to school. Not right now, not for that price.

Holy crap, $130 for an accountability package? Wow they really want to get money of the people who want to complete this challenge legitimately (which I would be one, any job worth doing is worth doing right as my father always said).
Still, at least they offer a self-serve package to those who either just want the pins, lanyard, and medal (I actually don't mind the Evergreen designs, they've kinda grown on me) or want to hold themselves accountable.
Might join this, I needed an excuse to burn some fat. Decepticons, transform and rise up!
Cyber Silver
I was really excited about this until I saw it\'s $85 minimum to participate. Like, what?
I could buy a fistful of pins and a few t-shirts for that money without leaving my bed, why the heck do I have to run/whatever 300 miles for a bunch of evergreen designs? You\'d have to pay me at that point.
I think I\'m still going to walk the distance out of spite. Hasbro could\'ve covered the production cost, especially considering there isn\'t any event cost being paid. I\'m not paying for the licensing.
I\'m happy for those hyped for this, but holy crap this seems backwards to me.
Mako Crab
Love this idea. Great way to kick off the new year!

My daily farmwork routine should earn me a WRECKERS medal.

Signed up for the Autobot plan myself, and I'll see about getting the wife to be on the Decepticon plan. Not only will it be something we can do together, but the factions can be a fun rivalry as we go and award pins to each other once they're earned. Very cool idea.
Scypris
Sweet I signed up. Need an excuse to hit the gym again. It's been about 9 months since I last went. Gotta get moving again

Oh wait 20-*23*?!
Oh yeah do the honor system to save money but 300 miles in a year…most people will be able to do that just in their regular day-to-day walking.
Which counts for this.
I also understand why they have the accountability package. Some people aren't as fortunate to have someone to help them on a journey like this.
Dr Tommy
From their website, it says June 2023 (in the FAQ section) , so you have time to get through the 300 miles.
Honor system is good enough to motivate me, and just what I was looking for in 2022! For the previous poster, they offer a "all at once" goodie pack for $85 instead of $130, so people don't have to bother doing any kind of fake miles.
