Super 7 have dropped a new repaint of their Super Cyborg Optimus Prime – this time in Shattered Glass deco. The purple and green get up comes with the removable front plate showing Optimus’ inner workings, and even has the shattered window glass SG Prime is known for. At 11 inches tall, the retro inspired sculpt is non-transforming and meant to be a collector’s piece which stands outside of a traditional Transformers toy display. Retail is $85 USD and he’s up for order now. Check out our sponsors below to grab your copies!

Transformers Super Cyborg – Optimus Prime (Shattered Glass Purple)
This is not the Cybertron you remember! In the “Shattered Glass” Transformers universe, Optimus Prime is a deranged, evil warrior bent on conquest. This 11” tall Transformers Super Cyborg Optimus Prime pays homage to the “Shattered Glass” universe, featuring purple paint deco and shattered windshield effect, as well as a removable chestplate and Ion Blaster accessory. With the chestplate removed, you can see Optimus Prime’s inner workings and maybe figure out what makes this version stray from the heroic path of his other incarnations. Such investigations are going to require extensive hands-on time, so you’d better add the Transformers Super Cyborg Shattered Glass Optimus Prime to your collection if you’re ever going to hope to get to the bottom of this mystery!

Thinking about getting this and it did occur to me that the colors are reminiscent of Eva mode. That’s why I want it. Frankly I wish they went all in on that.

At least the ER mold has the more angular torso similar to the classics mold, so it looks better as SG Optimus than most other G1 Optimus molds, though I agree that no SG Optimus has topped that original classics one…besides maybe the text on the windvane gun and oversized slanted autobrand, I can do without those tbh
Novaburnhilde
While these things tend to be a bit overly pricey, I really like how they look. Also that SG Prime G1-style box-art is super charming.
Furnace
The ER Prime mold is excellent, and the SG repaint is quite good. But there's just something about the bulk and the glaring eyes of the Classics mold that conveys the menace of the character in a unique way. That's my opinion, at any rate.
Shepard Prime
RED figs aren't dumb.
VVa
No.

Why? I will never understand people buying non transforming transformers. At least action masters had transforming accessories. These are as dumb as the pop ones and RED.
Nova Maximus
It's the first Shattered Glass Optimus toy as a repaint of Classics Optimus back in 2008.
Final Knight
Hey what figure is this? It looks AMAZING
VVa
Having him in my hand again, I think I agree. ER Prime is very G1, and very nice looking, but Classics Prime just looks cooler. And very solid.
Arm kibble be damned.
Nova Maximus
Not even the ER mold.
Just have to give Classics Prime that ankle tilt and he'd be king again.
VVa
Not even the ER Prime mold?
Furnace
I agree and would add that none of the recent SG Optimus Prime designs have managed to match the sheer presence of the original Classics mold.
protohuman
This is Super7 creative!
Shepard Prime
Funny you mention that because I did mix them up early on but no, I am talking about the Ultimates. ;D I didn't know they were 7-9inches until recently tho' so I at least get the price hike.
Purple Heart
This figure has brought us this, and I love it for that.

My dream of getting a G1 Optimus re-issue in SG colors is one step closer.
Bass X0
No golden spatula on the modern toys.
magicube
Definitely agree. The original color scheme was unique and really stood out. Now he just looks like regular Optimus with a grape filter applied.
SG Unicron
I've moreso noticed it myself with the blues, but I gotta agree I'm not a fan of how they've been steering his colors. Chips away at the charm of his original palette if ya ask me.
But no, you ain't the only one who's cared.
