Thanks to 2005 Boards member Paladin for giving us the heads up of his sighting of the new Transformers Cyberverse Ultimate Class Volcanicus at US retail.
This figure is the combined form of the new Cyberverse Dinobots which we are supposed to see in the new Cyberverse season. Since this is an Ultimate class toy, it is focused on its Energon Armor gimmick and it is just a single robot, not a combiner. In any case, Volcanicus can transform into a beast mode to add playability as seen in the first stock images of this figure. This new Volcanicus figure was found at Target in Wixom, Michigan.
Update: Some in-hand images of the toy thanks to 2005 Boards member T-Hybrid
Happy hunting!

Happy to saw the auto-transform gimmick works perfectly on my copy. I can imagine this not being the case for many, as the tolerances have to turn out just perfect in assembly.
Still, ton of fun when you get a good copy. My daughter has been having a blast with him and her friends.

Just picked one up finally thx to @zeros prime

Volcunicus is the most jovial combiner I've ever watched. And completely not-Dinobot-like at all – he's more like a giant Cheetor in personality and voice.

I’m really tempted to pick this up, I mean sure it can’t move it’s legs but like still, I can totally see this as it’s own character and not as a Dinobot combiner lol

The auto-transform spring gimmicks are the worst on pretty much all of the Cyberverse toys. Iaconus suffers from it as well. Ramjet's back barely stays closed as the armor tries to push out and Skullcruncher's armor comes flying out if you look at him funny. On the latter two, there's probably a way to disarm the spring mechanism. But I fear the auto-transforming gimmicks are probably more challenging.

I've taken to using a binder clip on the neck to keep it extended.

My favorite part about Slug is his chest transformation rotates the entire assembly 180 degrees for no reason other than to give him a slimmer profile in dino mode (similar to how the 86 version narrows his chest in beast mode). Then the shoulders and beast head swivel as well to get back in position to where they'd be if he just laid down on all fours.
Yes. To such an extent that I opened a second that had come in the mail to see if it was just mine. But it's an issue in general. If you pull the head out you can see the two tabs that are supposed to hold the neck in place, but they don't seem to want to pinch closed enough to hold it in place.
On mine, I've found once I get his hips/legs transformed in to beast mode, I can wiggle them gently to get one of the two pegs to support the beast neck while it's fully extended. Once I get there, it holds for the most part. But not enough that I'd swoosh him around like the Ark or Sky Lynx.
It works enough for a $25 toy (got mine on sale) but is a bummer on an otherwise fun figure. And unfortunately since i opened the second one I can only return it as "defective" to the store which means it won't go back on the shelf.

I regret nothing.

You’d prefer a $600 3P collectors item over a $30 child’s toy? That comparing apples and some really damn expensive some oranges.

In-hand pictures really don’t do this figure any Justice for me either. I’d still prefer GCreations’ Masterpiece Volcanicus over it

I think it depends on the toy, there's some VERY sensitive tolerances there. It's snapped back down a few times for me, but as long as I don't specifically move it and play with the rest of the toy it's usually fine.

Hey @T-Hybrid, did you have any problems getting the Dino-Griffin head to stay extended. I had to use a binder to keep mine in place. Maybe I'm missing something.

The Energon armor is cute. I love it. I just wish the auto-transform worked as well as the armor gimmick.

I'm done posting pictures. In-Hand Final Analysis: Fun and would be solid if not for that Auto-Transform. The robot mode is fine and the Energon armor works well. Just expect to get a headache trying to keep him in Dino-Griffin mode.
Rating: 6 out of 10 Energon Cubes.

The Bad News: However, don't look at him from overhead.

Even worse, the auto-transform gimmick (which I want to love) makes transformation a complete hassle. I wound up using a binder clip to keep Volcanicus from tripping the hair-trigger on his neck.

First the good news, once you finally get Volcanicus into his Dino-Griffin form, he takes great pictures from certain angles.

A few more photos here before I try to transform him. Pretty cool so far. Be back with more photos in a bit.

I feel Cyberverse deluxe Slug might very well be my favorite TF released this year (at least that's not 3rd-party). Soooo great in both modes, very satisfying transformation, no loose joints.
