Takara Tomy Mall Twitter have shared some new additional stock images of the new Transformers Masterpiece MP-55 Nightbird.
MP-55 Nightbird is a retool and redeco of the MP-51 Arcee mold inspired by the G1 robotic ninja warrior as seen in the G1 episode “Enter The Nightbird”. The new images focus on the new weapons included with this new Masterpiece release. As a curious thing, the original tweet mentions that Nightbird will also be part of the new Transformers Rise Of The Beasts film.
You can still pre-order Nightbird via our sponsors links below. See the new images after the break and then sound off your impressions on the 2005 Board!

Got around to making her nunchucks today & by making I mean using the chain sickle weapon from the old FP Insecticons. I somehow had the weapon in a junk bin but no FP Insects. Literally a perfect fit. The 2 hand held sickles could be plugged or unplugged from the chain ports on the FP bug. NB's saber hilts happen 2 fit perfectly. Even better than the sickles. Her main weapon in the toon is nunchucks. In her very 1st reveal in the cartoon it's her standing w/ chucks. She needed them imho.
My backpack now holds everything too. Even the small gun & the blast effects. She's done.

Beautiful photos but if I gotta be honest, I couldn't stop staring at that OP-1 that's trying to get it's way into the shots LMAO

I wish they had gone with a transluscent purple for the windshield like the windows on Loud Pedal and Rodimus. The neon yellow sort of sticks out like a sore thumb!

Added some weapon storage. Got her backpack holding both sabers & mini-pistol. She now can store everything but the 2 big blades. I don't plan to use those. I do still plan to make nunchucks & tidy up the backpack more.

This looks REALLY good imho.
I most definitely will be making the backpack mod, but will wait for the inevitable KO for parts swaps where possible. That way, I can keep the official parts in one piece.
I modded my MP03 Starscream waaay back, and now I regret it. I couldn't sell him off to help pay for V3 SScream! I switched it up when it came to modifying Hotrod's knees; I just modded and swapped out leg parts from a KO.

It doesn't need forcing, just a bit of finesse to layer the backpack just right. The gap under the hinge arm should be almost perfectly filled by that white piece underneath it.

I am not forcing anything

You haven't clicked Arcee's neck in as it seems, and her backpack much more. There shouldn't be an opening visible underneath that top pink hinge.

Fun

I took her backpack off. The small piece that once made the rear, middle of the car is my new backpack. It was the piece that the taillights tabbed into in vehicle mode. I had the same idea as the guy above me originally. I ended up rotating that part upside down to build a fairly g1 backpack. I tried various ideas until settling w/ what you see. I'm going to do some paint touch-up next weekend & maybe drill some holes to store her lightsabers. I'm also thinking about turning the saber hilts into nunchucks using a metal chain from Michael's/etc. Can I do that & still have the option to use the hilt's yellow beams if desired? We'll see. Taking off her entire car really improves her balance 10 fold & unlocks her waist movement (particularly side to side.) As you can see 1 legged posing is effortless. She now has an SH Figuarts vibe.
Pros:
– Better appearance overall.
– Better articulation.
– Better balance.
– New backpack paint/material match perfectly.
Cons:
– Loss of car mode which kills the fig's value.
– Weapon storage (which I loved) suffers greatly.
– Figure looks even more out of MP scale imo & is further undersized to me now.
Conclusion:
I'm glad I did it. It really unlocks her action figure element & she didn't need an alt mode imo. The figure seemed too small for an MP Nightbird to begin with so, it didn't help to further slim her down. It's not a deal breaker imo. Until I further mod the backpack or somebody 3d prints something better the loss of weapon storage is a bummer.
The procedure to consider & a caution to anybody thinking of any type of car removal:
It is supremely difficult to remove all the pins needed & will require heat/proper tools. It can be done. TM reviews said he did it & can go back to stock. He said he's making a video. I'd wait for that vid if you care about reverting. I could have gone back but, I decided to bond my backpack permanently after seeing the results. I don't care to go back. I highly stressed out the middle hinge to near breakage even being ultra careful. That part (which holds the whole car) is riged plastic w/ 0 flex. I ended up cutting/filing it down in the end & lost the ability to reattach the car. Be very careful or just accept removal as a permanent solution. I have Arcee if I ever want to flip the mold so I'm satisfied. Also yes, I took her into the bathroom.
