Transformers Rescue Bots Optimus Prime Jumbo Jet Wing Racer In-Hand Images

Courtesy of 2005 Board member and Australian resident griffin-of-oz we can share for you our first in-hand images of the new Transformers Rescue Bots Optimus Prime Jumbo Jet Wing Racer.

This big figure was revealed while back in February this year, ad now we have a closer look a  new incarnation of Optimus Prime for the Rescue Bots line. While planned to feature a car-carrying gimmick , the ramps and storage spaces are compatible only with the small and simple Bumblebee figure included and not with regular Rescue Bots Rescan cars. It’s good to notice that while we can clearly recognize this toy as part of the Rescue Bots line, the box doesn’t have any logo or indication of the aforementioned line, and it’s more like a generic Authentics packaging. Event the Optimus Prime art shows clearly a regular truck Optimus Prime instead of the new toy’s design.

I’d chuck this out of a window if I were a child and given this as a present… utter trash.

I've tried out some more of the Rescan toys, and only the cars fit, but most only just squeeze into the wing compartments… but the tail compartment just wont fit two Rescan toys of any size.
Those Flip Racers are a lot smaller, so you'd be able to fit several of them in the three compartments.

Also here is the transformation, which is close to what you'd call a 1-step changer – by folding up the chest/nosecone (which swings up the arms as they are fixed to the main body) and then straightening out the wings.

I forgot to include the photo of the box back, so have added it here too.

These would be for my kids' Flipbot Racers so I want this. Hope it's for sale online soon.

I mean this has as much play value as Titan Metroplex!

(yeah I'm still bitter that ramp can't touch the ground by default…..)

With all the ramps and such it feels like there is some failed attempt at a Star Convoy like base mode in there somewhere as well? Why would all those ramps be in there otherwise if it's also not a carrier toy as it can't hold anything?

The nose of the plane being a removed piece seems an odd choice for this age group of toys.

I would have preferred Hasbro make a Decepticon Undersea Base playset. I'd be all over that.

This one… not so much. It was on sale $49 (save $20) at BigW in Australia & still shelf warmed.

aw, we could've gotten an adorable rescue bots stratosphere :( 

5 months later i'm still bummed this wasn't stratosphere or some new plane guy. a giant rescuebots ramp-plane is awesome, but doing it as an ill-fitting optimus dilutes optimus and the potential the idea has.

Can someone explain the play pattern of this to me? OP transforms. You can store cars in his wings and tail. But that seem like it. I guess you could make 'tracks' for the cars out of his wings?

He just looks bulky and awkward for no reason. It seems like a design that had planned features cut halfway though and the result lost out on whatever it was originally going for. It reminds me of gravity racers where you push a button to unleash them and they zoom down the track. But the pics make it seem like the car would just fall out before you pull the yellow tab out.

I like my bots g1 accurate, but I love the freedom the rescuebots line has to do random stuff. It\'s just about fun.

movies do same thing wings look terrible good fun toy for kids

My local Walmart had a lot of these Rescue bots on deep clearance price.  Those deluxe? figures were $2.50 and that large bank looking Optimus was $5.  I think they are ready for a reset so I would suggest look at your Walmarts for clearance prices.

Breaking new ground on kibble. Car carrier wings. Tiny propellers.

The only positive I see is, yes I'm now ready for CHUG Seaplane Optimus Prime.
