If the G1 guys are all standard vehicle size then "mass-shifting" could explain all of it.
It also looks like the plot is that the All Spark arrived on Earth ahead of the Cybertronians and formatted a handful of lifeforms.

I think the trailer showcases how the series is playing fast and loose with scale in regards to the BW cast.

Also, the climax is absolutely the Ark's bot mode.

Looks like we got a full trailer: Here
Judging from the clips, the Maximals and Predacons may mass shift to some extent to stay on even playing ground with the Autobots and Decepticons. Airazor is shown roughly bird sized and Megatron in dino mode towers over the Decepticons. But both appear eye to eye with most of the G1 guys when in bot mode.
Except for Rattrap, who's a giant rat and is getting his ass kicked by Nemesis Prime.
Nova Maximus
It's obviously because the Transformers here are human sized explaining why they seem relatively small compared to previous incarnations as they don't scale with anything. So in a post credit scene taking place many millennia later Prime and Spike are going to be playing Mortal Kombat in Spike's living room.
T-Hybrid
Because in this continuity they can. Though it's possible that's not going to hold true for everyone. I believe one of the promo stills showed Airazor in a chase with Laserbeak where they were the same size.
ShakesDaKlown
My biggest gripe with this is the scale. How are Maximals and Predacons able to stand shoulder to shoulder with Autobots and Decepticons? Why am I even bothering to ask? I know there\'s not going to be a reason.
Pteraxadon
Hey you stole my joke!

Hey, ol' bots get Sciatica too…
Nova Maximus
He's trying to pull of his best Dreamwave pose.

Story telling purposes.
It's simply more convenient to have everybody at approximately the same siza.
Of course there won't be an on screen explanation.
With only a limited number of episodes to tell your stories, you need to get to the primary plot.
This is probably a different time-line/universe the G1/BW one.
Scale is different.
Necromaster
Everyone's talking about BW Megs' ridiculous moobs, but what about his face? His head looks way too squat, like someone took the transform tool on it and squashed it down.
Also what the hell is G1 Megatron's pose supposed to signify, anyways? That he's about to take a dump?
T-Hybrid
In the original series, sure. But the toys are already the same size so why not? It'll probably be the same way in the upcoming movie.

To much talking politics in this series I’m still fighting get through first season all they do is talk transformers energon cybertron armada has more action scenes compared this politics show if season two and three are same I will be disappointed if action doesn’t pick up soon it’s boring so far
Gumblor Gimbles
This show looks very, very bad. If that means i hate transformers then yes, i do!
BB Shockwave
I see that Rooster Teeth had to go its own way and not use the toy models again. That BW Megs model is ugly and blocky.
And why is he as tall as G1 Megatron? Beasts should be a lot smaller.
Cliffjumper
Anyways I'm a fan of Transformers, how about you?
