I discovered this issue thanks to this thread. Just ordered it from Raygun Comics.
I probably enjoyed the comics the most in the middle of MTMTE before it got weird at the end of Lost Light.
This looks like a return to form, especially with Alex drawing again!
Any other hidden gems I should look at?

So many new releases which ones are you picking up this week?

I may be a pain in the rear for some but I'm always civil with those who disagree, even when they're insulting me.
I'm no Gunnery Sergeant Hartman but my harsh criticism may be akin to this famous line : "Because I am hard, you will not like me. But the more you hate me, the more you will learn. I am hard but I am fair."
In other words, I'm often harsh on the stuff I dislike but when I like something, I do say it too. It's just less apparent somehow.
I would replace the word "learn" in Hartman's line by "think". As in, "Do you (all readers) think IDW is producing material that will be considered collectible in 20 years? Much like the Marvel run? Or is this just disposable the second you're done with?"
"Do you think Hasbro is producing (via the licensee) cartoons that will be regarded as well as G1, Beast Wars, Animated and Prime were? Or are these shows just place holders between movies to keep the spotlight on the franchise?"
"Do you think these very light, small and hollow toys will stand the test of time like those who were better made up until a few years ago?"
This is what I would hope my criticism incites by making some fans "think" about it all.
And I return the compliment to you as well.
Civil discussions are seldom found on the web these days.
No apologies needed as you didn't offend me at all
Cheers!

I believe I understand, Apologies for the inconvenience! Thank you for being civil, you are certainly no troll.

No worries but thanks.
I don't post very often. I never did actually. I'm at 18.75 post per year on average (16 years member with 300 posts)
Hardly a troll by any measures.
And some of my posts are positive. For example, I commented that the TFTM86 toys are quite nice.
I'm also quite excited about the new 4K TFTM transfer.
However, about the cartoons and comics, I'm HYPER critical because I know how much better it was not that long ago.
It's not a Geewun thing either. Or nostalgia.
This art, the comic related to this thread, is laughably bad, by ANY measures.
It's not a question of taste. You can see how cheap the page rate is by looking at it 2 seconds.
It's painfully clear that IDW has to produce a LOT of cheaply produced TFs comics to break even.
Finally, in every fandom there's always a few a**holes being hyper critical.
I guess I'm one of the last.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I don't want to bust my yearly post average.
Above 20/year, Tony might boot me out

Er. Yeah. Not to come across the wrong way.. Some of your criticisms are valid: IDW 2 has started slow and it has fairly simple art currently Its obvious it doesnt have the same breadth as IDW 1 currently.
and yeah; the wfc trilogy has had some duds. But for the most part this has been a really good past few years. But maybe it's time to take a break from the fandom and find some new stuff to enjoy? I lurk and I've noticed how bitter and borderline nihilistic you have been and it kind of concerns me personally. I had this when it came to bionicle on a private forum a long time ago and I needed a break. There's nothing wrong with putting some distance.
Don't take this with offense, please? i'm just worried.

oh
Mattymo
that’s sad and says more about what you’re actually like then the people you blatantly look down upon

Wasting time and being jaded brings me joy.
You don't want me to be happy?
P.S. I'm still passionate about TFs but I'm old enough to remember when the fandom didn't sit idly by and fangush over every little mediocre thing. This is crap and you know it. Hasbro licensing dep just approves whatever passes their desk it seems.
Leo Primal-2
Where are you placing Heart of Darkness?
And what about New Avengers / Transformers?
LegoTFGuy
Vinyl, Octavia, the Student Six and Soundwave all starting in the same story? It's like they're cherry picking the best of both franchises!
Rojixus
I loved the crossover, but hated the art.
Mattymo
maybe it’s time to move on then so you don’t waste your time being so jaded against something you’re no longer passionate about, yeah?
Greenspan
Easily the second worst TFs art EVER
The first being Tom Scioli\'s TFs VS G.I. Joe (what a crap fest that was)
Kudos to IDW for breaking records in mediocrity.
The trifecta is complete : crap comics, crap cartoons, crap toys.

It wasn't bad, but it really was not worth the wait.

I don't think that's right. Other RI covers haven't followed story beats so this could be another example.
Airazor first would be a heck of a change.
omegafix
Wow TF/BTTF actualy came out, Only 5 months late
SPLIT LIP
Airazor's joining in already? We haven't even developed the Maximals we have.
Also that cover art is gorgeous.
