And it didn’t take long after our first US sighting of Transformers Kingdom Voyager Rhinox and now we can share for you our first in-hand images of this figure.
2005 Board member GAUGE has just posted fresh out-of-the-box pics of the latest incarnation of the Maximal warrior and scientist. As we can see from the images, Rhinox looks pretty close to his Beast Wars cartoon design with a nice range of poseability (including butterfly joints) in some parts and a bit limited in some parts due to the rhino kibble. We have robot mode images at the moment, but be sure we will update the post once they are available. Rhino mode is realistic rather than cartoon accurate but with a lot of details and an opening mouth and with no other real articulation on this mode. We also have a closer look at the instructions which reveal a quite interesting transformation sequence.
Update: Additional images including group shots with other Kingdom Maximals thanks to TheDKOPC
See all the images after the break and then let us know your impressions on the 2005 Board!

I’ve had this figure for almost three years, but never thought to do the following until now. I also looked back to see if this has been mentioned before. It goes against the official instructions, but for a more cartoon accurate Rhinox, I maneuvered his two mid-section panels to the following position, giving him the more pronounced hip skirt seen in the cartoon:

Here is the before:

And after:

It makes a big difference in person, and helps to give him more accurate proportions to the show. Plus it doesn’t hamper his poseability much, since the mid-section pieces aren’t attached to his waist.

Yep, you summed up my feelings better than I could.

It just fails to live up to the character in so many ways compared to the rest of kingdom and Legacy BW updates. Feels like it came from another line or designed by a totally different team with different rules. Scorponok is another dud but not as bad as Rhinox imo.

Agreed… at least he didn’t have that growling/constipated mouth though! Y’mean?

It just blows my mind that Hasbro went with a toy like head over the animation one. Especially since the rest of the recent BW stuff has show accurate heads.

I agree. It was a lot more fun than I'd thought it'd be. Plus, the blast effects on his machine gun is hella fun.
Cool Hand Lube
I would rate Rhinox (I have both Kingdom and BWVS) as fine. Not great, not piss poor, just… fine. That leg transformation is ridiculously stupid.

I just got this mold via the takara tomy beast wars again two pack and don’t understand the hate this mold gets. Sure the legs transformation is kind a scary but other than that it’s a fantastic figure.

Yeah on my son's you can only tab in one because trying to do the other will cause the first to pop out.

They're not ruined. They work perfectly. And they're more colorful. Plus, I don't want them combined and stored in the floppy thrilling 30 figure. I gave that to my little nephew. He loves it.
Because now they can spin and can have the blast effects. Double the power.
AndreyOfDoom
Looks good but you ruined thrilling 30 weapons and now they can't combine and store in the superior thrilling 30 figure.
Why not just give kingdom those weapons instead of modifying them?

This figure is easy to transform when you just follow some basic steps or watch Emgo videos.
Rhino mode is bad because it is just a brick and the silhouette+color are just boring compared to T30.
Robot mode is good just need the bulkiness of the T30 version to standout just a bit.
Weapons are so weak compared to those included with T30.

I wanna like this figure but it's the biggest piece of cow manuer shit I've had in a while. I've never wanted to stomp the crap outta a toy so bad. Why is this thing so hard to transform??? I hope the new ROTB one blows this one out of the water.

I think Kingdom Rhinox is an ok figure, it really would have benefited from being a leader class, filling in the gaps, adding mass and heft, more paint apps, better head, bigger guns etc but as it is, it is still a serviceable Rhinox.
TyrantGalvatron
As with Kingdom Waspinator, I really don't understand all of the hate towards Kingdom Rhinox.
Sure he's not as screen accurate as he should be. Sure the chain guns aren't as big (size matters!) as they should be.
The guns are more than fine.
This is a really nice looking, fun figure that has really good articulation and is just flat-out fun to mess with.
And you know what, it may not be perfect but it does a really good job of pulling off the look of the character especially in a group Beast Wars/Maximals display and also especially if you don't already have a figure of Rhinox in your collection.
I'd give this figure a solid C+ or B-.
Preach Starscream
I'm not sure what the problem is honestly. What's wrong with it?
Sprocket
Wh…why would you do that?

Way late to the game…I know. I have a back log of figures to get through.
Wow. This figure is awful to transform. I seriously want to know if someone from Hasbro actually took a product sample and a copy of the instructions and gave it to a child. Then watched the child successfully transform the thing. I'm 43. I wanted to throw it. Those back legs were horrible. Both modes are fine on their own once you get them there but, the transformation…..that transformation…blows.

Alright I’ve gotten two of this figure and both have misaligned pins for the rhino head. Is it really that common of an issue or am I just unlucky. Much like the rhino heads, I am tilted

Originally passed on this, but picked it up today at target cause it was 8.99 lol. One question: Has anyone figured out how to get the two panels that fold in to create the majority of the top of the alt to sit totally flush? I can get them about as good as emgo does in his review for reference.
Read through some of this thread but didn't find anything. I like the figure though; I just prefer clean looking alt modes.
