Japanese company Cutie 1 Toys have revealed, via their social media channels, images of their new officially licensed Cutie1 G1 Transformers figures.
These representations of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron are stylized as button-eyed dolls. They are made of soft vinyl and each figure stands about 4.5 inches/12.00 cm. They are part of the Cutie 1 line which has worked with several other franchises before. A very original and unique design for sure.
Pricing and release date are yet to be revealed, but you can click on the bar now to see the mirrored images on this news post. Let us know your impressions on the 2005 Board!

Those things are adorable! They'd look great as actual plushes.
protohuman
Too appear to be unique, desirable and hand crafted.

Megatron has a chin like a Bob\'s Burgers character…

What disappointment I look at pictures expecting what’s inside megatron mouth eyes weird looking someone can use these make transformers horror movie out of them got eyes right for it

This is an…odd product lol. I\'m sure someone\'s excited by this, but I even like the pop style and this weirds me out haha. The premium company and price tag coupled with this cutesie button style mixed with the TF brand genuinely makes me wonder what market this is for. Hey, more options is better I guess.
jackgaughan
Because that's the artstyle they're going for?

Some of you was scarred by Coraline and it shows

Why do they have button eyes and sewing lines? Megatron also has a face that is like as if he has seen some weird shit in his life…

Probably vinyl made to look like they are stitched would be my guess.
primalxconvoy
I'm sorry, but I didn't understand anything you wrote just there.
protohuman
Are these actually sewn and stitched? Or just chunks of plastic?
The former makes them cool and desirable, the latter means they are… well… more funko pops.
dragon

Maybe, who can say when it comes to such nick-nac novelty collector items that certainly have become rather oversaturated ever since the rise of pop vinyl.
Although I get the feeling that all this really just hinges on the fact you personally don't like them. Me, I could take or leave em, but I acknowledge there's at least an appeal for this aesthetic that exists. That's pretty much the only thing I was ever saying.

That doesn't mean that the manufacturers intended for their products to be sold outside their target market. BBTS might be getting them from an alt source.
It's a similar to how although TT TFs can be bought outside Japan, their official "target market" is Japan, and thus caters to what they believe it's popular there.
As such, I don't think these figures will be that popular.

You know online stores are a thing, right?
I just checked and Bigbad has a whole slew of Cutie1 stuff up for preorder, and two of the one's based off of Berserk are apparently sold out.

I'm not so sure about the non-Japanese market. Many Japanese companies don't sell official 3P TF products products outside Japan. It's the same with official 3P TF merch in the US; they're not sold in Japan.
