Third party company NewAge have revealed, via their Weibo account, our first image of their upcoming Hephaestus (Legends Scale G1 Devastator).
This is another impressive Devastator for the competitive Legends scale market. According to the information shared in Weibo each Constructicon will stand 9.8 cm tall with die-cast metal parts, while the combiner mode will be about 25 cm tall. Different interchangeable faces for Devastator are included plus LED eyes. Devastator’s gun will feature sound and lights. To top it all, we also have an image of the gray prototype of NewAge Scavenger showing off his poseability.
A promising alternative to the recently revealed Magic Square Toys Legends Scale Devastator. Click on the bar to see the mirrored images and then join to the ongoing discussion on the 2005 Board!

There’s a lot of nice vehicle detail on the arms and legs, implying a nice real world vehicle alt mode. I still think they need to cut down the thigh length, he feels too lanky, and the head is odd right now. But it’s coming along, I suppose.

This makes me feel more.comfortable choosing it over magic square. The individual bots look so good

Toy and Toon for this guy…I just might bite. This is shaping up to be another awesome NA release.

Yes they will hear all the screams of magicsquare fans for how perfect their version is

I think that’s just all the polygons from his nose and face are showing so they look like a big mouth.
Also NA is probably going for both Toy and Toon like they do for their other figures. Since the first reveal is a very obviously toon based head. I don’t think that implies they’ve changed designs either. I think this is just confirming they are doing both designs.

Reminds me a lot of the G1 toy with CrazyDevy upgrade parts. Has that same lanky feel in combined mode.
Colors and individual head sculpt are very toy accurate as well!
It's cool that NA is homaging the original toy more while MS is straight up cartoon goodness.

why does it look like devastator has a mouth like jaws?

Yeah or the balljoint elbows on Longhaul. Two steps back there IMO. Scrapper looks aces though!

If this is all they have to show, it looks like it's still a ways off. Which gives them time to hear what people say about the Magic Square version, and make design adjustments, hopefully.

Don’t like the hollow feet/shins on Hook.

Devastator was one of the G1 Transformers that, unlike Prime or Megatron or Skids, I thought looked worse with the yellow eyes. Obviously this guy will have the red eyes but it's just something I noticed.

Honestly, this will come down to the combiner head. If it looks right, I’m in.

Times like this, I think Newage might have been onto something going with their own scale. Harder for a MS-curious NA collector to bite when the figures in question aren't the "right" size.
Digger
Oh well I’m not big into Newage so I kinda forgot that. But yeah i guess this would be more of an exception.

Yeah I dunno, for awhile, I thought NA was kicking ass, now they seem woefully behind since the vast majority of what they’ve shown is still only renders.
Now I’m starting to think NA is setting themselves up to fail by constantly trying to put out the same characters, since MS will have already released theirs by the time NA do. It can’t be good always putting out the same characters late since a lot of folks don’t like to double dip.
Curium
They did do a render on Breakdown only for announcing their Stunticon set. Same with Ultra Magnus and Shockwave. Having a physical figure for their counter-announcement is more of an exception.
Digger
Except they showed a prototype of a figure in the team first, not just a fender or a silhouette.
