Third party company Magic Square Toys have uploaded, via their Weibo account, the first color image of their Legends Scale Devastator and a gallery of their Legends scale Mixmaster.
This figure was teased while back in January 2019 but Magic Square surprised us now with a cartoon accurate rendition of Devastator for the competitive Legends scale market. To top it all, they have also shared images of the first prototype of their Mixmaster figure in robot, vehicle and combiner mode. This is sure a great mold noyh in detail and poseability considering the scale. About the leg combiner mode, Magic Square added the option to display it with a cartoon-accurate toe or in a toy-accurate style with no toe.
We still have no additional information on price or release date, but stay tuned with TFW2005 for more updates! See all the mirrored gallery on this news post and then share your impressions on the 2005 Board!

They never have 1:1 rereleases, they always have some minor changes. As seen with the A rerelease of Devastator, the plastic hues are slightly different, all of the gray paint has been replaced with silver and some painted detail on the original is absent on this one.

I recently purchased Magic Square for the first time (the entire combaticons) so I don’t know what MS’s reissue policy is. Do they reissue past releases? I ask because I want to get MS Devy in original color but I noticed that b37 and b 38 set is sold out every where. The other two sets are available widely.

I think it was only included as a bonus part with the first run. I remember they marketed it as a perk for those that preordered.

If you do end up wanting MS Menasor, be sure to get it from Magic Square’s website or a retailer with good after sales support so that if the leg breaks you can get a replacement part.
MS Menasor is shorter than MS Devy, same height as NA Devy. The KO is taller than Dev. Not sure about Rising Force.
Someone will get you pics, but none of the MS combiners are the exact same height, just ballpark

Does anyone have a size comparison of this set vs. the MS Menasor sets including the KOs? I just want to see my options if I'm looking for one that is as close as possible to Devy's height. I found a local retailer selling the original box set for $160 but I heard stories of breakages. That leaves the 2 KOs. I believe there's the MHZ and the BW?

I've got a set I'm not using. LMK if you're interested.

i got mine second-hand. i asked my seller about it, and they said it wasn't there when they got it brand new. is the missing hip skirt a common occurence? don't think i would have used mine very much if i had it, but it's still a bummer that it's missing
Wh1tebase
Did you get yours brand new? You might've received one without any. It should be in the same set that came with the legs.
SushiEat
does anyone know where the original version's (green and lighter purple) alternate hip skirts are? i can't find them in my set
Stardiver
Yeah I would have much prefered the A set over the original, but I'm not bothered enough to have to fight through selling the OG at a loos to replace them. Shame…

MAN! that new purple is so glorious!

Thanks for that Scrapper tip! Fixed him now.

I got the entire A set recently and I really like them. They're not perfect but they're quite fun.
I think Long Haul is my favourite by far, with the arms last (Bonecrusher being dead last). They're all pretty fun though, and the transformations seem almost entirely intuitive.
There are a few problems I might post more about later but mainly just the aforementioned Mixmaster issue, Scrapper's loose ab crunch (though if you tab the waist plate into the side pieces, it will hold it okay), and Bonecrusher's totally useless neck (the ball-joint is way too big and nylon doesn't sand very well, but I'll try it again later).
I'm definitely going to put some floor polish on Mixmaster, though he really should have had a proper locking mechanism in the chest (the leg mode is only held in place by the wheels, after all).
Bonecrusher seems a bit out of place with his limited arms and less intuitive transformation compared to the others, but he's grown on me.
Oh, and the ABS parts on Hook just seem like a poor decision. They're toleranced poorly (way too tight without lubrication, still quite tight with) and painted green so they don't 100% match.
I've spent time working through cleaning all the mould flash. Only got one and a bit figures done.
It's not perfect since you're cutting soft plastic so there's room for error, but I think with enough time and care, it improves the figures overall by just cleaning up the little imperfections (and I'm OCD enough to bother with even the small stuff).
I've ordered the waterslide decals, so I guess I'll post photos when I've had a chance to apply them all (probably sometime in late December at this point).
Aaaaaaaaaaaaand they don't ship to New Zealand. Oh well…
I don't have both but honestly, it doesn't seem very grainy to me at all. Maybe on the toy waist piece for Devastator but that's it.
There's a post earlier in this thread showing all the steps for transforming Scrapper. If you lock ALL of those parts in correctly, he should be the right length in leg mode. The only one I missed is the waist piece I mentioned before, but there's quite a bit going on. His chest doesn't slide too far and you shouldn't have to put too much pressure on it.
silverej
Yeah I think I've checked everything you mentioned. I've fully compressed both knees, the hips, I've tried alternating between Mixmaster being fully extended and compressed as well. He's just never level with Scrapper for some reason. I'll take pictures once I get home.
Edit: I hope it's my Scrapper's chest just not fully extended but I remember pulling it as hard as I could without breaking it and it just would not extend further.
Curium
I'm aware of Mixmaster being shorter because he isn't fully extended, but I'm struggling to picture how Scrapper could be shorter. Without seeing anything the idea that makes the most sense to me is either the drop down in the knee joint or at the waist (both on the 'pants' part) being lower than on the Mixmaster side. It drops at the knee to allow a part to be pegged in there, and at the waist for forward leg movement.

I just recently completed this set. I got the 'A' repaint. Is it just me or is Scrapper shorter than Mixmaster when in leg mode? My Devastator seem to always be leaning slightly to his right. I don't have pics right now and I'm sorry if this has already been brought up.

I posted some comparisons of Scrapper/Mixmaster with the original set here: Magic Square Devastator
And a comparison of Devastator here: Magic Square Devastator

Could anyone post the original and anime color constructicons side by side for me? Trying to decide if the silver paint is too grainy and if I should try and scrounge for the original, or if it's not as big a deal as I think it is.
lord ginrai
I did the same on my first release Mixmaster and it’s held up well since.
