IDW’s Transformers x Back To The Future: Issue #3 iTunes Preview

Transformers #28 has been out for a bit and #29 is coming on Wednesday 21st so i thought i'd talk about one page and the process behind it, Swindle's jaibreak! To start off: @Brian_Ruckley writing is incredibly vivd and I always see the scenes play out in front of my inner eye
So thumbnails have been done in one pass, there's a corridor, there's cells and there's incredibly smug Swindle browsing through his jailmates like at the grocery store, and it'd be so easy to just, make one angle for all these panels but, nah, that'd be boring!
Aftee thumbs i had a thought: i'd probably spend too much time and energy recreating the same place in various angles so, here comes old trusty friend – SketchUp! I often do location blocking like this to make things look consistent through the issues
I never use 3d for the inks, it's too bland, i tend to deform camera angles to push the volume and draw it all with extra details, & I find 3d unsuitable for characters at all since i try to bake as much body language in them as possible, but, as a location ref it's a life saver!
And here's the final page! @DdGarciaCruz colors are always phenomenal and the contrast here really makes it pop and @jakemwood does the letters so the reading flow is incredibly organic. The entire team has been working so hard on this run and I cant wait for y'all to read #29!

I ordered it through ShowZ Store, and while it took a couple of weeks to get here it was packed very nicely, so I would recommend buying from them. Although, I have heard other stories about the quality of the pack job done by ShowZ in the forum for the figure… but as I said in my personal case it was a very secure package, and arrived in great shape.

Well I can't say that I have the Takara version on hand to compare it to, but actually my initial analysis of the quality of the plastic may have been a bit premature, as I think really only the head/faceplates and a few of the accessories feel cheapish, as the rest of the body feels pretty solid. Again, at about $100 price point, it really isn't something I can gripe about, as it still looks and feels pretty amazing.

So that's a no on that one?

Well I can't say that I have the Takara version on hand to compare it to, but actually my initial analysis of the quality of the plastic may have been a bit premature, as I think really only the head/faceplates and a few of the accessories feel cheapish, as the rest of the body feels pretty solid. Again, at about $100 price point, it really isn't something I can gripe about, as it still looks and feels pretty amazing.

Reporting back in almost a month later to say I just got my copy, and honestly it's pretty good! Obviously the plastic quality feels cheapish, but when the figure cost only a third of the authentic one I can't really fuss over it too much. I was correct in my assuming that the light up features would not work out of the package, although for some reason only the light up effect for the blast piece works just fine. Joints feel very nice and sturdy, as do pretty much all the points of articulation on the piece, and a majority of the paint apps are solid. Definitely recommend it if you're like me and are just aching to get a fantastic looking Beast Wars Megatron on the shelf.

Yes please, do let us know once you get it.

I'm very curious.

I don't care for voice chips so that's not a deal breaker for me.

What counts most is : good quality plastics and paint apps, tight joints and low price.

If your copy aces all that, then we're in business :) 

P.S. I wonder if recent batches of MetailBeast-01 have better QC ?

Has anyone heard any rumours about a Shattered Glass series? I only ask as the new upcoming 'Capsule Collection' that's due to be revealed at Pulse Con in conjunction with IDW is alleged to be an SG one, yet we haven't actually had an SG comic from them yet…

So what is the consensus on the BTTF crossover? Any good? And thoughts on the My little pony crossover?

I quit the IDW mainline, because it took TF too seriously.

they push back the trade paper back to june now. but the 3rd isue is sopose to be March 17th out.
