Celebrating 25 years of Beast Wars! The Maximals, led by Optimus Primal, and the Predacons, led by Megatron, have crashed on a strange new world and they are not alone. To survive the planet, much less each other, they’ll have to explore their surroundings and their new bestial alt-modes in search of an advantage. The Beast Wars begin here!
Blitz.
I feel bad for CJ fans. Little dudes gimmick used to be having a giant cannon now it's being killed off at the start.

Its my opinion, which I am not alone
I agree

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
The art is so freakin' horrible it's almost unbelievable they'd print such crap.
DAAAAYUM it's ugly.
GONE are the wonderful days of Don Figueroa.
He knew and, best of all, CARED about Beast Wars.
This crap is proof that IDW doesn't care AT ALL about creating something special.
I feel bad for those who pay to own this.
P.S. Is Hasbro's licensing department sleeping on the approvals? Who approved this crap?
Iacon Studios
I wish the Beast Wars art looked like the C cover.
Instead it looks like a sketchy, lazy version of TF Animated. I just don't understand the artist choice here. We had a chance to get lush, organic art but it looks like an up and coming 17 year old drew it.
So disappointing.
Starscream Gaga
I’m sorry for your poor taste.

Hmm.
Mattymo
well not everyone just wants their toys being smashed together going POW POW in fiction
Rojixus
We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I believe the JJ Abrams Mystery Box writing approach is bullshit and Beast Wars does not now or ever need that type of crutch. I will not be convinced otherwise.

I heard they were good people, the Vok.
Mattymo
they didn’t get to flesh them out much because they didn’t know show was wrapping up honesty. They thought they were getting a fourth season at one point. They left a couple things out there because they anticipated it would continue. A lot shows did that. Beast machines did that. Hasbro even offer Skir the chance to do a 3rd season but he declined. Animated was a big one, prime left spent some things hanging, RID did too. Doesn’t mean it’s badly written. If anything it’s a realistic way of handling certain things. You don’t always get the answers in the real world. Gotta remember also that hasbro also steps in and will can an idea or a plot element. Look how badly Tigerhawk was handled. That was bob Forward that was hasbro stepping in and saying “add this character. No wait don’t we’re not gonna release it. Okay nevermind put him in. Okay now kill him off”
Rojixus
Yes, that was plot contrivance after plot contrivance. The Vok were only used to drum up plot developments. What were their motives? What was their reasoning? We don't know because the writers themselves didn't know. That's why I say it's bad writing and that's why I'm glad the Vok are getting fleshed out now.
Mattymo
they don’t know who unicron is because they scanned optimus primals memories which leads to believe primal himself doesn’t know who unicron really was because as beast wars established a lot of their history was considered classified and sealed up. Remember primal is not a high ranking member of the maximals. He’s a captain of an exploration vessel. He’s a ciitizen. Hell our own history is a example of this. There’s entire parts of humanity that people just don’t believe happened

We\'re talking about the Vok?
Eh, not fond of the Vok. For highly advanced multidimension aliens or whatever, they sure were dumb. Idiots didn\'t even understand what Unicron actually is. I hope he eats them.
Oh, this issue… Man Megatron just continues to ruin everything with his actions doesn\'t he? It\'s kinda nice seeing Cybertron going from a flawed, but overall functioning, and decent society to… Well I can guess what the planet\'s gonna look like in a few cycles, all because Megatron\'s ambitions, and how they seem to as we get more and more into them, be more and more selfish with a veneer of \"But we could be MORE!\". And we\'ve never really seen this play out in real time as it happens before.
Mattymo
you need look what a Deus ex machina is because that’s not even remotely what were or portrayed in the series. Their involvement is very plot driven in the series even if they didn’t appear episodes. primals death and return?Transmetals? Fuzors? The quantum surge that alerted the predacons everyone was alive which lead to ravage appearing and the reveal that Megatron was acting upon one of G1 Megatrons back up plans in case he lost the war and the reveal of the ark? They all stem from involvements with the Vok. They are just as important to beast wars as anyone else in the beast wars lore and have every right to be in the comics instead of just creating something that is their rightful role and place in it
Rojixus
I fail to see why the Vok had to be a giant Mystery Box to do what they did, they come off as a Deus ex Machina that existed just to enable plot contrivances. That is just bad writing that Beast Wars would have been better off without.
Mattymo
wrong. The Vok and their mystery was something that impacted a lot of the show. You need to remember that their machinations and mystery caused long term events in the show. The big one is Dinobot. Due to their messing with the natural events of earth it lead to Dinobot believing Megatron failed in bringing them to earth which lead Dinobot to defect from the predacons and join the maximals. Then in season two when the planet buster was destroyed revealing they are in fact on earth leading Dinobot down a dark path which lead him to believe everything he’s done was a mistake and against his predacon heritage. The Vok and their mysteries lead to some huge events with characters in the show.
Rojixus
No they weren't, the Vok nonsense was a side-plot at best that was only occasionally visited and ended up going absolutely nowhere.
Mattymo
but they did because they were the building blocks of the series. The premier even asks the question “who built these structures?” It’s literally in the first episodes when they seen the standing stones on the way back to their base. The series started with mysteries
Rojixus
Typical IDW
I didn't say it didn't have them, I said Beast Wars didn't need them.
