Coming from Planet Iacon’s Facebook page, we might have our first look at the next MPM figure, Optimus Prime from Bumblebee. No official word on the validity of the figure. With New York Toy Fair originally being this weekend, hopefully Hasbro will do a digital event for Transformers soon.

Man, this looks like someone jammed SS 38 onto WJ's Fire Scorpion. I also am not a fan of the tactical photos they are using: hiding the longer than usual back end, square back panel (not pack but panel), and no showing the back. Does MPM 12 have feature the Cybertronian spinal design?
I don't like this at all but might buy this just to see what HasTak came up with.

Probably because there is no official design for the matrix yet, so both this, and the yolopark version are just kind of "best guess" situations. I really would not be surprised if a slightly modded version of this figure is released some time down the road with a new matrix and chest cavity (and probably alt mode given how paramount likes changing them between movies).

the whole cat ears thing reminds me of the colored maw debacle in the haslab unicron thread: hasbro gets so close, but decides to go “fuck it” during the last stretch on what would be an outstanding release. i don’t see why they couldn’t hahah have a hinge there to collapse that panel in half and fold down towards the cab.
as others have mentioned, the fixed shoulder is a huge oversight imo. but i’ve seen gundam models where the arms can move out independent of the shoulder pads, so i wonder if they felt like that would be ok here? nonetheless, prime’s design has his shoulders connected to his arm rather than its own, so i don’t think that works for prime.
lastly, the pegs on his inner leg is really an eyesore. they could’ve used some shorter t-shaped clips (not sure what they’re called) and have it hold the same as these longer pegs.
i hope these trivial nuances don’t become a recurring theme with their otherwise excellent releases

I did have that thought, and it makes sense enough I suppose, just personally I felt like it coulda been better. Oh well, I really enjoy the look of the rest of the figure… even if it has cat ears in truck mode… I think that I can forgive it

I wish that this was the Matrix they had decided to give MP-12. Even though this one is from the Yolopark model, it's just stylized so much better and fits the movies aesthetic better than the generic design we actually got. Besides that, isn't the Yolopark model officially licensed? So I wonder why this isn't what we got.

I'm assuming someone out there enjoys light piping on Transformer heads but I really don't like it. It causes the eyes to look dead and dull most of the time because the light piping isn't done well or I don't have enough light on my shelf to make it work. Painted eyes are so much better for me. This is my only complaint on the bot mode of this figure.
Kingdom Cyclonus has light piping that works very well and it looked great when I had him on my desk with my monitor behind him. The eyes glowed very well. But then I moved him to my display shelves and the eyes are dead.
MPM-3 Bee and MPM-8 Megatron both have light piping for the eyes. It works very well on the TT version of Bee but on my copy of Megs only one eye works so he looks like he's missing an eye most of the time.

Yo man thanks for recording that (I love the screen grabs coming off the page, too! lol). I think it always makes a huge difference seeing things in motion compared to just a image. And if those awesome hip ratchets and diecast feet/parts (like gas tanks & possibly chest pieces) have anything to say for this piece then it's definitely got a good build behind it. Even if the arms and cat ears are the only way to transform it looking like trash in certain shots. I'm stoked and I'll be keeping my eyes open if it's a worthy purchase. Thing is Optimus Prime's I usually always like lol.

I don’t own any MP styled BBM Prime so except Lemon Tree one so I keep bringing him up but yeah, it seems Lemon Tree takes some artistic liberties like the headsculpt and being bit more boxy than the movie
