So, you're leaving because I don't want to hear your tale of woe and betrayal?
That was easy.
Oniconvoy
Thank God.
Goodbye.
Hicks_Royel
No, you're banging a drum no one cares about anymore and being contrary for the sake of garnering attention. You quoted me to go, "nuh-uh… you're wrong because…" and I am telling you this is the last time I am interested in interacting on the topic.
You want to discuss Unicron, great, let's talk about how you're going to display it with you season three bots and how you plan to place it among them. I am tired of hearing you tell me "the maw could be orange and here's why…" unless you were on the floor in the factory, in which case, prove it then explain how they screwed up.

Stop getting so triggered by simple discussion on whether painting something is possible or not. It’s a discussion board, I’m discussing.
Hicks_Royel
Dude, give it up.
When you get it, prove us all wrong by painting it and showing us Hasbro ruined the figure through sheer greed and laziness but you made it better by doing what they would not.
That'll fix our wagons but right.

I’m taking the word of the guy who actually has it in hand and actually knows how much clearance there is. Doubt they’d layer on half an inch of paint.
Besides, clearance and rubbing never stopped MP-44 now did it?

Here's another not painted only the red and silverView attachment 28990182

Those gears in the teeth interact with something.
Plus layers of paint add to the dimension of a part. A few passes of orange to the surface of the blue will make the clearance tighter between any two pieces. Could be microns, could be millimeters but it does add to the surface.

Paint makes things thicker. Ask any customizer.

"Heh, good luck newbie."

As @Monari has already said because they have it in hand, no rubbing happens on that piece. It’s been ruled out as a reason already.

They didn't show the deviation because it probably wasn't something they even considered in the early promotion of the campaign. It was most likely a necessary compromise determined by production and/or parts interaction.
There's an image in the instructions that shows the majority of the piece being orange in only the inner most part being slate colored. It's reasonable to figure that the intent was to paint one over the other. Given that the pieces were likely part of a larger die set, the blue won because the rest of the pieces in the die were intended to be blue.
Painting may've been nixed for as simple an issue as paint wear between the moving parts of the mechanism.
People are moaning now because of the blue, imagine if they owned it for a few months and the same color started showing up under the orange coat due to paint wear. You wouldn't be able to shut of the complaints anymore than you can those most vocal about the final color choices as they are.
People want to compare this to the sail barge but the sail barge is essentially a doll house shaped like a big skiff. It's entire job is to give you a place sit your Jabba and handful of extras and have a few interactive gimmicks to make it a playset. It doesn't need to be a complex two in one construction that also turns into Jabba the Hutt.
Honestly, not even the Sentinel has the same complexity in its design as all of its play features are pop and swap in nature. And all of the coupling pieces should be hidden to avoid needing special attention to such things as surface paint applications.

If this WFC representation of Unicron was supposed to deviate from the 86 movie version in its deco, why didn't they show the intended deviations from the very start?
Why show it with a yellow/orange maw up until update 3? Why mention the movie as inspiration at all during the campaign?
I always knew it was a WFC toy due to the blast effect ports and the extra little details all over the figure, but that doesn't mean the last minute changes had anything to do with it being in the WFC line.
I still believe the maw coloring (and some of the other issues mentioned), came up during production and were not a visual design decision.
That being said, I'm still eagerly awaiting him and have a nice little nook set up for him in planet mode.
I've taken a, wait and see, approach when it comes to customizing him, as I want to give Toyhax some time to come up with decals, before I break out the paint.

yeah i still dont get what the hell youre tryna say, just sounds to me like you dont understand why a wfc toy has the same design style as other wfc toys
there aint any inaccuracies, cause this fig aint tryin to be the 86 model but as a toy. its more than just the paint, the whole design is diff, just look at the head alone

^This right here. I think the sheer shock value this figure is going to bring to peoples' collections is going to, quite literally, overshadow the non-ideal color choices they might have made. I'm not saying people aren't justified in being disappointed by the color changes to a degree…I just think that's all going to fade as soon as they start playing with it.

Ah fair enough

I'm not even talking about Studio Cell, which is probably part of the confusion. I'm comparing WFC figures to Studio Series, another Hasbro line. The idea I'm arguing against is that Hasbro was able to take more liberties with HasLab Unicron because they put it in the WFC line instead of either Studio Series or Masterpiece.
I'm not really trying to say that HasLab Unicron is as accurate as it's possible for a Unicron toy to be. I'm suggesting that putting it in WFC isn't the reason for any inaccuracies.

discussions is fine, but this has been hundreds of pages of back and forth of the same complaints, which should be taken to Hasbro customer service, Hasbro social media pages, or a Hasbro forum. Maybe ask them to do a pre-order prepaid only re-release with the fixes and correct paint apps.

That Hot Rod looks soooooo dope in that pose under Unicron. Like a movie poster. The size difference is amazing.

In case it had not been posted I have gone through ten pages saw no posting of this video here it is

The point is for people to discuss Unicron, which will continue the need for this thread as most people haven't gotten their's yet.
