Paramount and Hasbro has tapped Steven Caple Jr. to direct the next Transformers Live Action Movie.
“After meeting with several top execs including Paramount Motion Picture President Emma Watts, the studio saw Caple as the best fit for the franchise that the studio chose to revamp at the top of the year.” states Deadline.
The article denotes that Bumblebee Universe Movie has triumphed over the Beast Wars script; to be the next movie in line.
“In January, the studio made the decision to give the entire franchise a revamp by having two simultaneous scripts that are in active development: one by James Vanderbilt and one by Joby Harold. Harold’s film eventually would be chosen as the next installment in the franchise, and once he had given his final touches on the script at the end of the summer, the studio began taking director pitches on the next film.”
Mr. Caple is best known for directing Creed 2 starring Michael B. Jordan.
The new movie is set to release in Summer 2022.

I actually enjoyed Live Free or Die Hard and it was seen as a good movie by critics. So I don’t understand the perception of that movie being bad.

Neither was christina hodson as a script writer and look how that turned out. It's two things that are beneficial 1 patience 2 experience

More pessimistic for the TF property. Idk tho, I am starting to be more hopeful for the next one. Especially if the transformers are given more character.
Christiano
Because even if the guy isn't officially working on the movie, I found it curious that you didn't like even a single movie on the list, given how diverse of an array of films it is. Figured I'd ask if you actually think that Seven was a bad movie or if you were just being pessimistic about the new Transformers property.

I remember on the Illumanerdi article it said that they were going to start filming around this time.
octobotimus
Exactly. No idea why I was even quoted after that
BigRed
The point is moot since the guy isn't working in the movie anyway, but even if he were, "production designer" doesn't mean the guy would personally sit down and redesign things to his liking, specially not in an on-going franchise sequel like Transformers, so it was weird to get mad at him preemtively anyway.
Music
All of this is a moot point as he confirmed he wasn't even involved with the filming. It was an incorrect report.
octobotimus
Alien/robot/visual design wise, yeah, none of those were good.

Did I do anything to deserve that aggression?
Galvatron1998
Intriguing. I don't believe they're supposed to start filming until June (at least that's what I recall hearing) so they might be scouting out additional locations right now. Regardless, it's exciting that we're almost at the filming stage of a new Transformers movie!
Music
I see Caple but who is the other guy?

Lol, are you fucking kidding me? They were posted 20 minutes apart, champ. I'm not going back to edit previous posts to 'save space.' Thanks.
Scarlet knight
Use multiquote, please.
Christiano
Why? Like you said, he handles visuals and production design. He worked on Stuart Little, Pitch Black, Stargate, Independence Day, Live Free or Die Hard, Seven, The Doors, etc. At the very least, your opinions on what is good and what aren't are going to be unorthodox if you disliked every one of those movies.
Christiano
Because MICHAEL BAY BABY!!! MOVE ASIDE, NERDS WE'RE TAKING THIS STRIPPER BY THE TITS AND PUTTIN' HER ON THE POLE WHETHER SHE LIKES IT OR NOT PEW PEW PEW PEW!!!! TRANSFORMERS!!!
I'm not kidding when I say that I think this is his inner-monologue.
